All joking aside, the Pirates movies started declining with the idea of Jack as the main character.

Ok look here's the deal for me. I like Orlando Bloom, and I'm glad that he's back for this movie. And I think that it's a mistake to make Jack THE focus of these films. He's A lead, but works best as a foil to a more "straight" character.

BUT, he is the face of this franchise. And trying to get rid of him entirely, or minimize him, would also not work out very well imo.

No Johny Depp would be a terrible decision, they would lose a lot of money without his character here. I thought they had already filmed most of the film by now.

I doubt this movie makes anywhere near 1 billion. 500-600 worldwide is my bet.

I know the franchise isn't nearly as big in the United Stated, but worldwide, it is. This ain't an Alice in Wonderland case, a whole generation grew up with these films, and for around 6 years, it was one of the biggest franchises around. With China's expansion in the past few years, the film is most certainly going to reach a Billion...Unless these rumors about Orlando Bloom are true, because without Jack Sparrow i agree that a Pirates of the Caribbean film isn't going to get to a billion easily.

So would I TBH. But then again I just love Geoffrey Rush in general. And he and Keira played off of each other pretty well in the previous films, so there's that as well.

Depp seems to be headed down the same late career path as Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen so I can totally see Disney looking to get out of the "Johnny Depp business". Especially after Lone Ranger flopped and Alice Through the Looking Glass outright bombed amidst the Amber Heard allegations.

I thought they already filmed the whole movie? And while I would watch a Will Turner-focused movie, Jack Sparrow is a modern day icon of cinema. He has transcended Depp. I say keep him in.

This is clearly not about that. There is an obvious reason why this may be a thing. I don't think it is right now, but if this somehow turned out to be true. I doubt Disney is excited by the prospect of an addict who beats women promoting a movie for them.

Depp better hope that happens. He seems to be skating on thin ice with Disney as it is right now. He needs all the box office hits he can get right now.

No one is untouchable. Mel Gibson was just as big a superstar in his day as Depp is now and he wasn't untouchable.

It doesn't matter how much money this movie makes. If it is proven that Depp did these things, he is done with Disney. They are a "family" organization.
