For this kind of movie, everything above 60% on RT will be good.

I am hoping for Jurassic World kind of reviews at best.

Good reviews or not, it's probably still going to make a ton overseas. The 4th one didn't do very well domesticaly, but still reached 1 billion worldwide. With the rise of the chinese market i wonder how much that one will boost it's overall grossing.

Seems to me like the USA market is realy tired of this franchise though. OST was a slam dunk at the box-office in pretty much every country it was released in aside from the USA.

I think if she has a cameo it will be the size of Barbossa's cameo in DMC. Maybe Will returns to land at the end and Elizabeth is waiting for him.

On another note, I was watching AWE yesterday and in the parlay scene Jones is standing in a bucket of water and it got me thinking why didn't Jack, Will, Barbossa, or Elizabeth just knock Jones over onto the beach? They could have knocked him out of his small bucket, rendering him dead or helpless, then killed Mercer, and taken Beckett hostage. Then if the EIC doesn't cooperate blow Beckett's head off and then fight the EIC.

Elizabeth and Will seeing each other again is probably the most interesting thing about a Pirates film to me. I still remember how angry I was during Pirates 3 when he got stuck being Davey Jones. I never did see 4 because I was still pissed about that.

Still says nothing about their opinions of the previous films. Because we have a fair number of people stating how much they enjoy the previous ones, even the fourth one which I found to be a cure for insomnia. For all we know, these two people at rival studios chose to see an early cut because they were fans of the franchise, even the lesser installments. Opinions of the franchise are all over the place. I enjoy the 2nd and 3rd more than most people while the 4th one puts me to sleep. I've seen some others say the 4th is the most watchable of the sequels.

I mean them saying it's the best in the franchise, even better than the first? How do you get those who have grown tired of Jack Sparrow to believe that?

When it comes to Depp, domestic box office of his recent movies proves people are tired of him.

Remember what Barbossa said when Bo'sun slapped Elizabeth in The Curse of the Black Pearl. "And ye not lay a hand on those under the protection of parley." It is considered heinous to harm a foe during a parley.

Remember what Barbossa said to Elizabeth in COTBP.

First, your return to shore was not part of our negotiations nor our agreement so I must do nothing. And secondly, you must be a pirate for the pirate's code to apply and you're not. And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. Welcome aboard the Black Pearl, Miss Turner .

Jones, Beckett, and Mercer aren't pirates, and given the situation ignoring the guidelines, including the parlay, would have been the smart move. They were willing to set free a pissed off god to help them destroy the enemy, but aren't willing to violate a parlay...I just don't buy it.

Jones can teleport. That's probably how he got into that island in the first place. If they attacked, he would just teleport away and the terms of parlay would end right there.
