Animation Pixar's Inside Out 2 (June 14, 2024)

I'm happy for Pixar. Even though this would mean more sequels in the future. The theater release of Turning Red, Luca and Soul this year was a complete flop. I didn't expect Lightyear to be grossing less than $150 million in North America. Elemental was just okay, but very far from Pixar's biggest films.

Though like I've said before, they should only release 1 film per year, so these feature films would feel more special when they come out. I'm interested to see how Elio will perform next year. Right now, I only expect it to do a bit better than Elemental.

Good to see something cleaning up at the box office. We haven't seen this level of mania since Barbenheimer a full year ago!

I'm curious to see what's going to happen next year, with both Disney's Elio and Universal's live-action How to Train Your Dragon on the schedule for the same weekend...

Of the two films, only Dragon has an already built-in audience so I'm wondering if Disney will be the first studio to flinch...

Elio is going to be a challenge.

Disney usually struggles with sci-fi films (Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Mars Needs Moms, etc.) - Strange World and Lightyear fared basically similarly to these.

It's hard to tell how original Pixar movies will do at the box office these days and the decision to drop Soul, Luca and Turning Red directly to streaming didn't help. Elemental turned out to be a sleeper success but their last big hit that wasn't a sequel was Coco and that was almost seven years ago.

All I heard was let's make Coco 2. :awesome:

I hold out hope that the only (?) financially successful animated sci-fi film is Pixar’s own Wall-E.

Not before Rata2ille: Rise of the Rat King. :o

Come on. The 2 that really deserves it by now.

I think the only reason why there isn't a Bug's Life 2 is because they weren't really interested in sequels back in the early days with the exception of Toy Story 2. By the time they were and started churning out Cars 2, Monsters University, Finding Dory, etc., A Bug's Life had already become their forgotten child.

I blame Woody Allen. :o

Ah, the Antz vs. A Bug's Life drama. I remember both movies being released within close proximity to each other as a kid and thinking, "That's a weird coincidence" but I didn't know the full extent of it until years later.
Katzenburg was a petty petty man.

That hold is amazing. I think it’s possible this thing hits a bill by next week definitely in the next two weeks.

Wasn’t she queen at the end of the film? Thought that’s what the queen tossing her crown to Ada meant. I’d love a sequel or even a show.
Flick is going to make her super prego then. :o

This was cute. A truly worthy sequel that deserves all the love its been getting from audiences.
