Animation Pixar's Coco

I know it was the day after Christmas and a somewhat smaller theater, but it was really full today. It's been out a month

I went and saw it at a theater with reclining seats, I fell right to sleep. Before falling asleep I was adoring Miguel, once I woke up I was pretty in to it and and my tissue ready for the waterfall coming from my eye sockets.

Note: Book of Life put me straight to sleep too. Pretty look at and I hope to give it another try.

I've also noticed fans complaining about a distinct lack of Coco merchandise. We went into a Disney store and there was nothing but some mugs and a few other things in one tiny display towards the back.

The same thing happened with Wreck It Ralph - the Disney store had nothing on it. It was like it wasn't even a Disney movie.

It's not, it's Pixar :cwink:

It's not as marketable for obvious reasons. Same with Ralph. Niche subject matter.

Yeah I loved it. Definitely darker than Pixar is usually. I definitely wouldn't take my three year old niece to see it. But I loved it. Just the real level of sentimental

Gonna go this coming weekend to see it. Really looking forward to it, Pixar for me, have made very few mis-steps and from trailers & reviews this looks magical.

Saw this a second time yesterday. Ugh, my heart.

I watched it a couple of weeks ago... it's not great, but it's enjoyable and very pretty to look at. Unlike some previous Pixar flicks, this one doesn't really have much to offer to an adult viewer, but it's definitely still worth a watch.

I saw this the other day, wonderful film, yet another winner from Pixar and among their best to date IMO.

It's creative, vibrant and crafts a visually imaginative world, then it catches you off guard with quite a dark twist, and then in the end when Miguel sang the song to Coco to try and help her remember I welled up as it just hit home for me, I can't remember the last time a movie effected me like that.

9/10

The deleted scenes sound very interesting. I'm especially keen to see "The Way of the Riveras", the song in which Miguel learns about the family's traditions, which ironically include their complete abstention from music. I'm surprised it got as far as it did in production before they realized that a song about how they avoid music really didn't make sense...

How the **** was this movie not nominated for Production Design at the Oscar ? It would be a 100% winner

I don't know if animated features qualify for that award, unless it is something like Nightmare Before Christmas

Watched Coco this past week and I absolutely loved it :hrt:

I hope the movie is a big success on home video. It doesn't seem like it made very much at the box office, certainly not as much as it deserved to make.

Seems to me Coco is doing fine. Around $740 million worldwide (and it has still to open in Japan) certainly isn't bad for an original non-franchise movie. Sure, it isn't Frozen or Zootopia but it probably would be silly to expect every animated movie from Disney to make that kind of numbers.

My 6th fave movie of 2017! who thinks this movie is like a homage to Spirited Away and quite emotional at the end?

Disney CEO Bob Iger just revealed during the studio’s annual shareholder meeting that Coco 2 is happening. A 2029 release has been set.

It was going to be either that , or the "live action" remake.
They out of ideas, if forced to pick one. I guess I'd rather the sequel. :funny:

Dead Again
Dia De Los Muert'Dos!

Well luckily Pixar has yet to do the live-action remake route (most likely cause their films are so specific to animation). I hope they get to keep more integrity than Disney at that.
