PlayStation VR/Project Morpheus Thread

I think I'm gonna try and get a pre-order in at Amazon Tuesday morning, then I can start putting some money to the side to save for it when it comes out. And I can still change my mind later on before it comes out.

I'm still not convinced the applications for this VR tech is ready. And the hardware IMHO is way too over-priced.

it's fairly priced for the strength of the hardware, I guess. it's also the cheapest option for vr.

Its fairly reasonable priced considering the manufacturing and R&D cost thrown into it.

I mean, honestly, anyone who thought this was going to be cheaper than $400 was crazy when you look at how much the alternatives cost. Sony's just not in the position at this point to bleed money on hardware, so it was bound to be somewhere in that range.

^^ that's the more expensive model. if you don't already have move I mean. here's the details on the stand alone VR

Pre-orders for standalone PlayStation VR units will begin Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET in North America, Sony Computer Entertainment announced.
The standalone bundle costs $399, in comparison to the previously announced Launch Bundle, which costs $499 and includes two PlayStation Move controllers, a PlayStation Camera, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds.
Sony previously said it wouldn’t take pre-orders for standalone PlayStation VR units, but changed its stance following feedback from the fans.

I have the camera, and I have one move controller. So if I get it I'll probably get the $400 version.

Anyone take the dive and pre-order? I got one in, now it's 7 months of me diving deeper into the headset to see if it's worth keeping ha. Too bad I didn't get to play one at PSX, I liked some of the games they showed though.

Pre-ordered, but I hope I'll be able to test one out at a store, before I commit to the purchase. Or maybe I'll try it out for a day or two, and if I'm not happy, return it. Amazon seems to be pretty cool about that kinda thing.

I'm jealous, I went for Amazon at first since I'm more comfortable with them. Although I kept refreshing the page it stayed the same as 'Currently Unavailable' and when I did see the tab to pre-order, clicking it gave me an error message and to try it again and eventually the page updated that the first batch of preorders was done with, probably 5 minutes after 7. I went with Best Buy so we'll see.

I would like to test one out in stores, but man, I'm not sure I would. I don't consider myself a big germaphobe per say, but god knows what would be lurking in a VR demo helmet. It's easy with controllers since you can just wash your hands or use some sanitize, but your whole head could get real yucky.

I was able to change my pre-order to Amazon today after they did a 2nd round of orders. Much more comfortable with their policies, now time to start saving ha

Does anyone know if the VR viewer can fold up? Or do you need to take the whole thing off when taking a break?

I'm pretty sure the viewer for this one doesn't fold up and I don't the other one's that are competing with it do ether.

twisted metal 2 was on PC and there was a gow game on mobile. not smartphone mobile tho, more like the 2000s ones
yeah well twisted metal always seem to be on almost all platform or any one that would take. It depends thoughI guess. this will be no different then the Sony head set's we use for just listing to games watch tc or video streams since was can use them for pc's as well.

um, what? that was the only time twisted metal was on a non-PlayStation platform

L.A. Noire or something like that would be perfect. That game's defining feature was its facial capture and how you have to pay attention to the character's expressions to tell if they were lying. Imagine if you could be planted into that city as a detective, going around looking for clues, interrogating and solving cases? I think it would be great.

I didn't really say it wasn't I just remember it being occasionally on another platform on and off like generational skipped. don't worry about it though I'm sure I'm just confusing the issue .

na you didn't say occasionally on another platform, you said always on another platform

edit: yeah no need in prolonging this issue though
