Please, Pull My Thing... HARDER! (+first 3pgs of Kieron and Laura's art for THING#6)!

In my opinion,I think the book will suffer without DiVito on art.I mean the book is selling poorly and editorial decides to pull the artist in favor of a new artist whose style is different.I can just see people beginning to pick up Thing after seeing DiVito's art and being disappointed when they see the guy isn't doing art chores anymore.

Could be Marvel is trying to kill off any chance of it surviving.

I get this weird feeling Joey Q has it out for Dan Slott, call me paranoid if you will. Yet it seems Dan can't catch a break and especially when he seems most suited to write a book like Thing and Spider-man.

It's like they (Joey Q and JMS and others) realize Dan is a true Marvel guy, he's old school and they are reminded of what it means to be a true Marvelite in the Stan Lee tradition and they are afraid of him breaking out with a major hit, which would be the end of their snarky/hollywood schemes if Fandom embraces a guy like Slott.

I mean he wrote one of the coolest Spidey stories in a long time with Spidey/Torch and pretty much made JMS and 'Sins Totem Other' look like the crap it is.

Even guys like Whedon seem leary of Joey Q and his Bendis Brigade. Notice in all the interviews with Whedon theres this sense of 'I'm only here for the X-men' vibe and he seems to distance himself from whatever Joe and Bendis crew got going on. He makes a point to give props to Morrison's X-men and has a soft spot for the Kirkmans and Slotts at Marvel, rarliy does he praise Bendis and never JMS to my knowledge.

Anyone notice this?

No i think you're imagining it.

And whedon has given plenty of props to morrisons xmen in story.

In other news I think the new artist on the thing is an improvement.

He did give him the job, didn't he?

How can you guys, on one hand, say that JQ is some kind of a power-mad, money-****e, and then turn around and say that he gives DS an ongoing of one of Marvel's premiere characters, but is only doing it to see it fail???? It makes no sense.

And you can't blame advertising on this one. They were running ads in every one of Marvel's comics before this one started. And I haven't seen this widespread word-of-mouth campaigns ever. Even for Runaways or Spider-Girl. You want to assign blame, look to fandom, who absolutely refuse to buy anything out of their comfort zone.

Yeah, Joss doesn't seem to be that apart of the "bullpen" as it stands. From his interveiws, it seems that he stops by the offices for buisness, occasionally overhears some story ideas, but really doesn't seem apart of it.

Please do not cancel The Thing by Dan Slott. I know this book isn't doing well and is on the verge of being cancelled. But please lt this book have a fighting chance. Let it at least get one Trade Paperback ot before you make the decision.

And should the book get cancelled please don't let that reflect on Mr. Slott. He is the best writer you guys have over at marvel, and The Thing really showcases that.

I know that more and more people are picking up The Thing everymonth and all the comic stored I visit say that it sells really well, so please give it a little more time.

Maybe put a little more advertising behind it for the next couple months. If you guys could keep Spider-girl going then why cant The Thing have it's chance too?

Thank you for your consideration.

Mark Dunville

Send your words to Marvel People. We love this book and therefore we NEED it.

Save it Dammit.

i'm gonna buy #6 i gotta see that spiderman thing

If anyone hasn't bought #6, the joke Ben makes to Spidey concerning his involvement in the "New FF" of old and the "New Avengers" makes it worth the price alone. Of course, the rest of the book is great too. This is what comics should be- it's fun, true to the characters, and full of adventure at the same time. It's what the Human Torch's series should have been too.

I think issue #6 was a not as good in quality as the previous issues. Perhaps I should look closer.

You mean the Spider-Man Human Torch series?

It was Slott who wrote it.

Yes I know that. a few posts up Spiderwasp mentioned the human Torch series. I was wondering who wrote that.

Dear Mr. Slott,

If the Thing does end up getting canceled, can you find a way to replace JMS in Amazing Spider-Man?

Love,
Jesse White, the hippie_hunter

I'm pretty positive that Spidey had four robo-arms in the end of "The Other". What is up with that? When did it get reduced to three? I think the three-arm thing is stupid as hell.

Karl Kesel wrote the Human Torch solo series that was part of the Tsunami wave in 2003

It's Pronoounced LYGE.

Liige.

Emphasis on the I. Like luge only Lij.

Damage Control.

#6 was a great read, mostly thanks to Slott's writing.I want to keep reading this book,it's just that Dwyer's uneven, sketchy, and unfinished looking art is a bigtime drawback. It's really hard to not notice the skimping on background figures and even some close-ups.If this wasn't a 2 parter,I wouldn't have picked it up.Hercules looked really sloppy in my opinion.

I like Dwyer's art for the most part, but he did have several pages that were really lacking in detail. It looked a little rushed.

This book is just....... Great

For some reason, I was sceptical about this book, (I don't know why, his She-Hulk is sound,) but every issue has made me want to read this more.

At 1st, I fouind this book one of the last ones to read on my weekly pull list. Now it's one of the 1st. I was also sceptical about Spidey's appearance in this issue, as he, (like Wolvie,) are used to just make sales. This REALLY gets on me wick as Spidey is my fave charachter, (Wolvie's up there too,) and all sortsa of people writing them nowadays have no idea about how to write him.

Well, Slott managed to use Spidey in a VERY effective manner, and the way Spidey SHOULD be. I loved that he didn't take over the book, and Slott made the appearance perfectly reasonable. And more than anything, it was SO MUCH FUN! Loved the remarks about the new costume too. Can't have Dwyer drawing this without Spidey in his classic togs!

I'm loving this book so much, and the fact that he gets The Thing, and he loved continuity, and uses the MU as a whole, makes me very happy.

I've always had a great appreciation for The Thing as a charachter, (maybe that's what made me worried when I 1st heard of this book,) and I'm SO GLAD Slott has brought him so much more to life than ever

Everyone should be reading this book, and he's managed to make it enjoyable for kids, which is great, seeing as there's more than enough for adults to sink their teeth into. It takes a lot of talent to do that, most writers can't. The reason for me saying this IS NOT that I prefer books for kids, on the contrary, I'll always prefer the darker edgier stuff, but Slott has managed for me to LOVE a truly all ages book! That's a serious feat, and I also have something to show my younger cousins! Without worrying whether The Thing will ever bite off one of his villains heads!

I'm going to buy a second copy if this ish, and the next, unti this book is out of trouble

Great work Slott! Thanks for the fun!

if that dc logo wasnt taken directly from a cover of a comic book and pasted on the guys chest, then i will quit all comics
