Stan Lee DID want laser vision.....and he DID write that. There that part was simple.

P.S. "Force Beams", if that was his power, would be a horrible power lacking and real depth and would be more than easy for someone like Wolverine to survive thus making Cyclops no threat what so ever. Also, haven't you ever asked yourselves why victims of Cyclops' eye blasts are depicted as smoking, smoldering, or steaming after they have been hit??? Or perhaps why he has melted objects with it in various comics??? Guess you'll just have to have fun with "force beams" in your own world

You are WRONG. Concussive = force which I doubt you knew.

Because someone thinks that he has heat laser beams, that they have changed Scott's powers three times in the movieverse, and that they have changed his powers 5 times in the comics.

I would just laugh at him but I would rather educate.

I haven't watched the finished movie, but I doubt they changed a thing. Did you notice that when Scott uses his optic blasts, he's burning everything to the ground. But when Weapon XI uses them, they are the classic concussive force blasts. What the hell was up with that?

Bring on the Zombie fan boys, point is that Stan Lee.....the character's creator....has ALWAYS said they were lasers, and almost everyone who has written or drawn the beams has done so with heat properties. If that was Marvel's official word on it than they are as wrong now as they were 18 years ago when Wolverine "officially" had his claws implanted by Weapon X.

So why didn't Scott evaporate the train station roof when he unleashed his full powers? Also, the drawings of Scott in the comics have dust and debris in the air, not smoke and fire. The cartoon even showed him with concussive force beams. He has always had force beams.

How about a quote from Stan saying that Scott has heat laser beams? Otherwise, your argument has no merit as you have no proof.

He blasted the roof off of the Train station without causing a fire. His poweres aren't like any ordinary laser. He would be able to reduce a mountain to rubble, but not melt it in the process. Even in the 'making of' of X1 they explained how they compared his powers to the tremendous crushing power of rushing water, when they worked on the effects.

There was never to much detail shown after the roof was blown on the train station, but that was the first attempt at using Scott's powers in a movie, if they wanted to make them force blast and keep em that way they could have but they didn't, his power varied through ALL of the movies. But the main point of the argument was from a comic perspective in which he does NOT have force blasts. Plain an simple, in the comic....they....are....not....force blasts

So when he attacks...uh I donno Wolverine, Sinister, Magneto, Sabretooth, or hell ANYBODY in comic and TV history, why is it the wounds are shown to have a burning effect with smoke or steam emanating from their clothing or bodies??

Most of the time his power is restricted by his visor, which would lower the power and the heat. I don't think anyone without a healing factor has survived a raw blast, and when those with healing factors were hit it seared off their skin Aside from that......his powers are weak

The continuity between movies was flushed down the drain (and yes X2 was guilty in some aspects as well).

If Cyclops was shown with "laser beam" eyes in X1, X2 and X3 then them being the same way in Origins wouldn't bother me at all.

If Wolverines dog tag were US in all the X movies, them being US in Origins wouldn't bother me.

If any of the other inconsistencies that happened in Origins matched the Xmen movies I wouldn't be complaining. The writers chose not to honor the original series and added their own twist onto the movie which was really not needed.

Can there really be a good answer for making Cyclops' beams fire related?
Is there a good reason for the change in dog tags?
What about the escape from the Weapon X facility? They could have done a similar scene with little blood if they were worried about the PG-13 rating.

Ok, you say that his powers changed throughout the X Movies. Fine, then tell me what those changes were. Other than sound effects I can't think of anything. Origins is the only Movie that showed us a optic blast with heat properties.

As for your question why characters sometimes are drawn with steam emanating from them, call it inconsistencies. It happens. It's the same as Wolverine healing back from a skeleton even if it doesn't make a lick of sense. Some artists properly haven't done their homework and don't know what concussive force means. They see shiny, red beams and think "Ah, laser." As the majority would.

Im currently reading thru the classic Xmen and i havent run into any mention of lazers or anyone heating up from being hit by his optic blast

If you can't see that.....than I find cause to worry about you. I don't have to prove it because I know it and I don't care if you do or not, I'm not going to scower to find links to the quotes I've read or heard or to find scan pages of the comics I've read, the burden of proof is on you. I can't speak on behalf of Stan Lee, but he and the other writers appear fairly adament about Cyclops having force beams. I'm very familiar with the books, and I don't believe there is a single moment in which his powers are portrayed as anything other than force beams (or energy beams or power beams, as they're sometimes called) in at least the first 100 issues. Funny enough, the first panel featuring Cyclops using his optic blasts depicts Cyclops shattering, not melting (in any way), an ice block created by Iceman. Also, for those interested, X-Men #43 provides one in a series of segments detailing Cyclops' origin and the functionality of his mutant powers. I believe this origin series is also reprinted in Giant Size X-Men #1.

Okey, it doesn't generate HEAT, but it you hit something really hard for a prolonged time, it will heat up. Kinda makes a lil' tiny' bit sense with the Adamantium claws. Not so much with the tree.

I agree. It might make a bit of sense regarding the adamantium, although the scene is over-the-top in my opinion, but it doesn't make much sense otherwise. The tree should have simply been obliterated.

Here's a plot hole for Marvel in general. If Wolverine's aging is greatly slowed down, why doesn't he look younger in any of the wars he faught in? Shouldn't he be a teenager for several years? Just a thought.
