Plot holes/poor storytelling discussion

I'd give it a 7. It is disappointing because with the cast and crew involved, it should of been soooo much better.

But I still think it is a good fun movie that you can see striving to be more, but is held back by something, or someone... *cough*Rothman*cough*

But it is far from a bad movie IMO. The people saying this is worse than the likes of Elektra, X-3 and the FFs are, well, I don't wanna get in trouble
:D

k. my only complaint is the runtime...hopefully XMOW 2 is longer. and - to the words in bold.

1. I think it's safe to say that the age suppression kicked in later than the bone claws and healing.

2. We are not supposed to care about the team getting killed off. That was just used as a way to try and get Logan back on board.

3. So a Wolverine origin movie should just skip out the experiment scene? Riiiiiiiight.

4. Sabertooth did recognize him. Well at least was familiar with him. Why do you think he was so obsessive over Logan's dog tags?

5. Again, you are not supposed to care for her. You are supposed to care for Logan. It's pretty messed up. You think the love of your life has been killed by your brother. When in fact it was all a set up to turn you into a lab rat, and the women you loved was in on it the whole time.

And that would make a crap movie. Why do you need to be told about his powers? He is a mutant. His mutant powers are healing and bone claws, the latter of which became apparent after a traumatic event. Simple as that.

Do you need your hand held or to be spoon fed about this stuff?

right there i have to disagree with you. apparently this movie to you is the same as spiderman 3 is too me. were both blinded for our love of the character to the point where we miss the flaws all together.

you argument on sabretooth is flawed because how do you know that sabretooth in X1 just doesnt like shinny things?

on the girlfriend yes what you say is true about the "death of her" and the betrayel but you know what i didnt care and neither did anyone else because you know why? she wasnt established long enough. she just comes out of nowhere. its like were in the thick of it and all of a sudden heres this chick and your suppose to care for her. *cough* spoon fed garbadge *cough*

I dont mind the experiment scene which is fine but we already know what happens thorugh flashbacks. there was no surprise, all we saw was a few needles go into him. they didnt cut him open, they didnt rip his skin apart. all he did was have a few needles. why not mix it up and do some horrible stuffto him? you know throw us off alittle.

I always thought Singer was trying to make the scene more brutally realistic. Of course he had the needles too in the flashback, but I always thought part of the adamantium was really surgically applied to his bones. Which means cutting him open again and again.

exactly my point.

Hey I'm not blinded to the flaws. I definitely see the flaws in this movie. I'm not even that big a fan of Wolverine, to be honest he does my head in with this over exposure.

But no Sabertooth CLEARLY has some familiarity with Logan in X-1. Because he likes shiney things? :hehe: C'mon man that's just stupid.

And anyway, **** X-1. The Sabertooth in that was crap. The Sabertooth in this was 100000X better. I'd sacrifice a little bit of continuity to have a better villain in my film 100%.

We are not supposed to care for Kayla. Quite the contrary I think. The woman stitched Logan up, she set him up to be turned into a lab rat. Why should we feel for her? The only sympathetic part of her character is that her sister is being held captive to make her stitch Logan up. But we don't find that out til later.

But yes the experiment scene and escape definitely should of been more brutal. That is one of my biggest problems with the movie.

That would've really been a traumatic experience. Instead he gets his adamantium in a couple minutes and only needs seconds to escape the complex.

"This is gonna hurt worst than anything you ever felt."
it was over in a few minutes?????

for a guy who goes thru his life having his hands ripped open by bone claws???
the process didnt look more painful than a root canal.

Hmmm I doubt that. He had a load of tubes stuck in him which were pumping molten metal into his body. Na, not painful at all. Ever had molten metal injected into your body? :hehe:

But saying all that it should of been more brutal, visually.

I can believe getting hot liquid metal injected must hurt like hell, but it didn't look worse than a visit at the dentist.

I understand that it would be painful...but it didnt look painful

Well, that scene did remind me of when I had my wisdom teeth pulled out last summer...and that sucked.

I wished they had matched them up closer to the X2 flashbacks, although I have a feeling what they showed in X2 could only be shown in flashes like that for the sake of the PG-13 rating. It was pretty brutal, even if we only saw a few seconds of it.

Yea I don't think we would be able to get extended scenes like the X2 flashback in a pg-13. Maybe quick glimpses, but not the full operation.

Why don't you Americans have something in between pg-13 and rated r like us!?!?!?!!? Would make things sooo much better.

yea I SERIOUSLY hope that Wolverine 2 gets new writers and Director!

you know i think the Dr Oct hospital scene in SM2 is way more visual and graphic than the Adamantium operation.. so it is possible to execute a scene with violence for PG-13, just not possible with a fresh out of school film director.. smh..

Gavid Hood is a oscar winning director, what are you talking about? You can attribute the best parts of the movie to him. The worst parts of the movie are down to the writers and the execs.

And no, the Doc Ock scene was no where near as graphic as the flashback in X2. No where near. There is no way an extended version of that X2 flashback could make it into a pg-13/12a movie.

Really? where was all that Oscar magic for this movie?? Gavin lost all points with me for this farse lol
and sorry Ace, I was referring to XMO:W with regards to the graphic scenes.. but really? whats so graphic about the flashbacks in X2? the Dr Oct scene has way more suspense and drama not to mention leaves alot to the imagination.. not tryna take anything away from X2's flashbacks cuz i loved it! but IMO i just think the SM2 Dr Oct scene came off as more impressive in terms of visually gruesome lol

The experiment wouldn't need to look graphic at all. You show a scientist with a scalpel, but not the incision. The water would turn red and Logan would be wringing in pain. You can leave a lot to imagination and still have a pretty gruesome effect.

Well I don't see how you can blame Hood for this to be honest. It's his very first action movie but still, the best parts of the movie are down to him. You can see it striving to be more, but something is holding it back. I wonder what that is...

The flashbacks in X2 were like a scene out of a horror movie. Covered in claret, with tubes sticking out of him. A look of complete horror and confusion on his face.

The Doc Ock scene was great and very visceral. But there wasn't a drop of blood in it. If they took that flashback from X2, and accurately extended it, there is no way in hell it would get into a pg-13 movie.

the problem im getting at with this chick kayla is evrything with her happened so fast including finding out about her sister that we as an audience dont care.

I would too but come on if this gavin hood is so good then he should have been able to do both.

Im glad we see eye to eye about the experiment scene. I think the generall feeling was it should have been more brutal but hey that is what you get with a pg-13 rating.

the asian nurse who scratched her nails into the floor looked more in pain than wolverine

exactly. Its been a while since i left a theater feeling empty and mad about a picture. its sucks these studios dont have the balls to go through r rated comic book movies. thank god for watchmen.

yea im not a Watchman fan but I respect them for making a "COMIC BOOK" movie! lol

The popular rumor going around a few months ago was that Fox wanted to keep the movie as bloodless as possible, and kept interfering in what Hood envisioned for the film (there's a story that Rothman even had a set repainted a lighter color). Then there's that other rumor that he was even replaced at one point.

It's all internet rumor, who knows what's true and what's not...but going from the interviews I've seen with Gavin Hood, I liked his take on the character. And I loved Tsotsi - the film he won the Oscar for - so I know he's capable. He was just up against Fox, unfortunately. :down
