Okay, so based on the teaser, I think it's safe to assume that the mob hires the Joker. My assumption is that he starts as a small time crook (a la the bank robbery/double homicide) The mob takes notice, likes his work, so they hire him to take out bats. At this point he's just a guy wearing a mask.

But here's what happens, he turns on them and starts knocking them off. In their frustration and anger, they try to take him out, scarring him and dunking his head in chemicals. Problem is, it doesn't kill him. He also now conveniently looks like the mask he used to wear. A little make up on the lips and eyes and voila! You have the Joker.

I like the sound of that

Can I post my idea here, or should I make my own thread about it?

if that were how simple the movie is, I'd be incredibly disappointed...no offense tho

In the knife holding pic you can clearly see that he is wearing makeup and does not have white skin. It's also Post-scar, so I'm havind doubts about the acid/chemical bath origin. I think Nolan is going to leave that out.

K.I.S.S.

That sounds like a pretty good guess.

Are we going to see an origin?

All the rumors say no, and I hope not. Not a bad idea in the OP, but not sure how well it fits with the facts. We know he's wearing the same makeup during the bank robbery as the latest shot. Although I suppose he could have normal skin there, and white skin later, doubt it though

would be cool if the joker just wears all the make-up as an act, but then something happens (chemicals) and now the make-up is his face forever.

I think the movie might span some period of time. Early on Batman cleans up the streets. Probably includes the bank robbery stuff, the tumbler getting blown up,his suit destroyed etc... Still he catches the Joker gang but not the Joker himself. Joker is injured int he escape and Batman may even think him dead. Dent is doing a good job putting the old mob bosses in jail. After this perhaps Bruce decides to hang it up for a bit?

He starts getting some down time and he and Rachael start seeing each other again. He starts thinking about retiring. About what he's sacrificing and missing out on.

The mobs during this time start to regroup and also the crazies have entered the game along with copy cat vigilantes and vigilante groups like the sons of Batman etc. The media is asking where is Batman? They show the vigilantes in street interviews saying they will keep the streets safe until Batman returns etc.. Dent who came in as the new D.A. sometime just after the first movie starts on a political campaign. His success working with Batman has gained him a lot of public support.

Then the Joker returns to the scene again. In the meanwhile we probably see shots of him recuperating from his wounds he got escaping Batman. Growing more and more deranged.
Perhaps he's recruited by or he's assembled himself ,the leadership of the Gotham criminal community in an attempt to unify their efforts. Perhaps he says he has a plan to rid the city of Batman and Dent forever? They give him financial support. Using this money he gets his hands on some nasty stuff.

I think there's going to be something go down between Dent and Joker. Joker starts messing with his campaign. maybe Joker attempts to blackmail Dent?
Somewhere along the line Rachael gets her throat slit.
Probably just as Bruce and her are starting to get serious.
Dent probably gets the acid around this time. Goes to the hospital etc..

This inspires Bruce to retaliate. he realizes his quest is never over. he starts rebuilding the suit and hits the streets again with new gadgets just as the Joker starts with the big scheme with the ferrys.

After saving the ferrys. Bats chases Joker to his hideout in the amusement park where we're given an epic mind farking battle between Joker and Bats in Joker's funhouse full of surprises.

last scene is Harvey. Only now He's Twoface now. He escapes from the hospital and from reports he shoots a guy in a bar. This I suppose is the setup for the next film.

Haha, I'm hoping so.

God, I'd take that over him being some guy who just loves to play dress up and pretends he's a clown, waltzing around town as some freakish anarchist.

I don't feel like the Joker is driven by the idea of money or any kind of common motives, so I don't see him doing any work for anyone, that is- unless it directly benefits him. I could see him going in on... lets say a bank robbery... with the mob and as soon as the goons get the goods, Joker knocks em off, the guy's in it for himself- he owes nothing to no anyone and I don't see him trying to make friends and play nice...

the Joker just needs the money so he can finance the plan to destroy Gotham. The mob just wanted him to take out Dent and Batman.
The money is just to buy his WMD

Well here is where I think they are going.

The film starts with Batman having spent months, years possibly attempting to finally capture the Joker. He and the police are frustrated and annoyed. The bank robbery is in progress and half way through it the Joker's gang chickout and leave their boss for dead. Joker is captured and taken to prison.

The situation leads to heavy praise for Dent, Gordon and the Batman. Joker himself is in prison surrounded by criminals and cops alike that want him dead, waiting for his prosecution lead by Dawes and Dent.

Because their biggest threat is no longer a threat the three focus their powers on finally finishing off the mob. The war for control is made worse by Batman smashing their operations left and right. Seeing the Joker as their only option they fake his death and break him out of prison to get rid of Bats.

Leading to Joker's reign of terror. Backed by the mob he searches for the Bat murdering people left and right until Batman will reveal himself. The whole ship scene happens and Dent seeing this as dire pronounces himself Batman. From there the Joker focuses on him. He confronts his co-worker in Dawes. The mob is of course having second thoughts considering how out of control the Joker has become.

What happens after this point I have no idea. There will be acid, that will meet Dent's face, but who know.

^^
I don't like the idea of the joker getting captured so early. How about the the scar?

He should just kill random people at random times, not destroy the whole city at once...where's the fun in that? :woot:

I like this thread a lot, cause I kept waking up saying Dbl Homicide, Theatrics. (cause obviously the taste for theatrics are the viral ads)

So hes got dbl murder on him. Clown mask walks into the bank robs the bank with the goons trys to make an escape in grand style. I do think the zipwire will be used as his scaring. With that said. He goes into hiding for months trying to get rid of the scaring on his fast but learns to deal with it. Meanwhile Bats stuggling to put some of the big time crooks away. He does manager to grab one(anothy michael halls, Nygma) He uses bruce wayne to get out what he needs to maintain the streets of gotham.
Time has passed and joker goes back to his crooked games out of hiding and its up to gordon and bats to lock him away.

See I am not plot master writer uper thinker guyer or anything like that. But i see a lot of time passed maybe even a year, to where By the end of the film, we will learn that Rachel and Bruce Can never be, Wayne Manor is almost completely reconstructed, Dent has just become Two Face, Joker Still loose at the end of the film. (batman cant get his hands on his nemisis)

I really like that, and is fairly close to how I want to see it done on film.

I'm betting that no-one will guess the plot, you can't really tell anything from a few promo pics and a 30 second trailer with dialog that may or may not even be in the film.

I will take a shot at it:

Its been months after the League of Shadows incident. During that time, Batman has been getting reckless in his hide and seek game with the Joker. Taking down and bulling any underground mob and helpless crooks at his will. Man handling them at his own will and desire.

Leaving the whole Gotham criminals in FEAR of the Dark Knight, they turn to a man they didnt fully understand.

The large majority of the Gotham underground hunt down and leave pleading calls for the Joker to lead them out of the depression of crime.

In doing so, they find him but not as the scarred man we have seen him. Only a normal looking man with no gashes across his face. He agrees to lead them, but he want absolute power. As the mob, not knowing him well, they agree.

First hit, Gotham National Bank(or whatever it was called). They hold up the bank and the people get their first glance at THE JOKER. As some people not taking him seriously at first glance with a purple suit on, he shoots the first man who laughs at him at the bank. Then lets out his Iconic and frighting laugh.

Slapping and kicking the banks customers and tellers as they lay on the ground as he makes his way to the front desk.

Thugs, with clown masks on, armed with guns keeping everyone at bay. Joker, in his calm but yet serious voice ask for the young lady to quickly make his withdraw. As she goes to the vault with a thug to a gun at her back. Joker looks though the young ladies purse, which was behind the counter. Sitting on the counter with his legs crossed, looking very loose but at the same time his eyes watched everyone. Finding a red lipstick and white powder make up. Applying it to his face, while using a pocket mirror in the purse.

The thug returns to the front with the cash and blood on his hands and a dripping bloody knife on his hip.

Joker lowering the mirror, from his face, the thug gets startled from the first glance.

No time for looking at his bosses face, they quickly grabbed the money and left. Upon leaving the building, the enter the fan as quickly as possible but the cops are on their tail. Trying to lose them but the tumbler out of nowhere bowls the fans over. Joker tries to make an escape but batman throws a bat symbol at him, gashing him across the face.

Cops able to stop his running and trap him in a circle of cop cars.
------------------------------------------------------------------

later.

While, Jim Gordan, Harvey Dent, and Rachel Dawes are ready to take the Joker to court someone is planing to bust joker out.

Scarecrow.

Jut my little take. I know i went out of bound on stuff but hey its good fun.
