Austin Powers? XXX? Really..?

I'm trying to cover all my bases with reminders. I'm sure those films are somebody's favorites. They certainly weren't unpopular.

The key word there, I think, is "notable".

Got it. Still, it's quite a list.

There are basically three categories to the OTHER list. 1. Widely popular films i.e. Austin Powers, xXx, Ice Age, Star Wars, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Unfaithful, The Sum of All Fears; 2. Cult Films basically, Reign of Fire, Transporter, Death to Smoochy, and 3. Highly acclaimed films that I didn't think had backing enough to make the poll, basically everything else.

Hopefully, I did my job well enough that OTHER won't need to be used. And, of course, I'll be soliciting feedback in another thread for the 2003 poll choices.

Well I chose ''Gangs of New York'' because any film by Martin Scorsese is genius.

To be honest none of them really stand out to me as classics, so I'm going to vote for the pure spectacle. And for the pure spectacle, LOTR: The Two Towers wins.

Well, after checking the list.. it was a pretty weak year. I voted for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, just to vote for something. Many movies I liked, though (like The Pianist, The Bourne Identity, Bowling for Columbine, Adaptation, About Schmidt, Irreversible, Insomnia and Blade II)

Yeah, nothing jumps out for me either. I'm trying to decide between The Two Towers, Bloody Sunday, Adaptation, Spirited Away, and Y Tu Mama Tambien. All wildly different, which makes comparisons tough.

About Schmidt is a li'l fave of mine. Such a small movie.. Nicholson should've done more things like that -- instead of doing crap along s**t-master Sandler

Yeah, I'd like to see Nicholson do more along those lines too. Still, he has The Pledge, About Schmidt, and The Departed in his plus column for this decade. And, Something's Gotta Give and The Bucket List are harmless enough, especially considering how few high profile films there are that feature leads over 50.

Monte Cristo came out in 2001, didn't it??...the one with Guy Pearce and Caviezel

25th hour by a mile. A masterpiece. Amazing acting, brilliant dialouge and superb directing. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

Spider-Man. I remember seeing it, what an event it was.

I liked that movie. But I found the discussion about whether they headed to jail or not far more interesting :hehe:

*I'm afraid this post might is awfully redacted :o

I voted for Adaptation but really had a hard decision because of 28 Days Later, Solaris and Two Towers made it a hard pick. I would say 28 Days Later is my favorite zombie movie though...

It was a close call between adaptation and Two Towers, but Towers beat it out for me just by a little bit.
