He voiced him? Didn't know that.

He definitely did a fine job.

His voice was just so gruff.

That's how I want Gordon to be in these movies after Oldman's portrayal.
A Gordon's that's more old and tired than Batman is said to be.

Jeff Bridges or Bryan Cranston or fail

Jeff Bridges would be cool, but i don't agree with the "or fail" thing. The thing about Jim Gordon is that so many people could play him well.

Kurt Russell is probably my favorite for the role at the moment.

I was just joking with the fail thing :oldrazz:

William H. Macy has been a guy that been a lot of people's fan casts for Jim Gordon so it would definitely NOT be a left-field choice. That would be pretty awesome IMO.

You're all just picking old guys who look good with mustaches. It's too obvious. Look, they cast Ben Affleck as Batman. They cast Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. They obviously aren't going to go with what's obvious.

I'd say Aaron Paul as Commissioner Gordon would be some pretty inspired casting.

Yeah, but certainly not the only one there is, as this thread would make you believe.

I mean, was there anything particularly Gordon-like in any of his roles to explain this extent of interest in him to play this character, or is he just the "hot thing" right now after success of Breaking Bad?

I'm really not familiar with his body of work. And before someone asks, I didn't watch Breaking Bad, except for the first episode that is.

Besides the fact that he's an incredible actor with incredible range, he LOOKED a lot like Gordon from Year One in the first like 5 episodes of Breaking Bad and did a great job voicing him in Batman: Year One.

And they cast Jeremy Irons as Alfred so what's your point? Alfred and Gordon are about the only two roles that don't require a lot of out of the box thinking and it would still be inspired.

out of the box doesn't inherently mean better.

I was being mostly sardonic. I've seen Aaron mentioned what seems to be fifty or so times in the last few days and I felt his presence was being sorely missed in this thread as well.

Honestly I am a huge fan of the Jeff Bridges idea. I love Bryan Cranston and would support him being in almost any role they want to put him in. But I'm sure whoever they cast will be fine and I'm not too worried about it.

"Inspired" isn't the word I'd use.

As for William H. Macy, though he can be easily imagined as Gordon, I don't get much of badassness from him, it's not the old, gritty version of Gordon I'd like to see. Jeff Bridges would be perfect for that in my mind.

Maybe Gordon is DEAD is this time line, killed in the line of duty.
Since Snyder is using the DARK KNIGHT RETURNS for some inspiration maybe
Ellen Yindle is the Commissioner now.

I don't feel like snyder will skip out on using a classic batman staple like Gordon in favor of Ellen yendle.

I suppose its a possibility. But idk, if I were snyder I'd hate to give up the opportunity to film a classic batman/gordon rooftop scene.

I think Edward James Olmos could play an older Gordon. Great actor, great voice, and he wears a mustache and glasses pretty good too.

I want Bryan Cranston but I would be happy with the likes of Tom Selleck, Kurt Russell, William H. Macy, William Hurt, or Tom Skerritt taking a stab at Commissioner Gordon. Tom Hanks is an interesting choice.

I'll toss another name into the ring:
