So, I guess in this movie, Popeye eats some spinach, goes into a murderous rage and beats Bluto to death with his bare hands or something?

"The legend of Popeye haunts a group of councilors as they intend to open a summer camp."

So it's basically Friday the 13th with Popeye. How creative. :o

Why is it always the 1st place these go is horror? Why not like....a movie where Popeye moves into the big city and tries to be a lawyer? Why must it always be "Yeah and like, a bunch of stupid teenagers see Popeye or like The Cowardly Lion, and they like....brutally get slaughtered man!!!!!"

I'm not gonna lie, that image of Popeye is terrifying and the idea of making him a slasher villain is enough to get me at the theater.

I dont have a problem doing Horror first with these new Public Domain IPs and all, that is fine by me.
My problem is that its just done lazy to be the first who do it.

I do think a Popeye Horror movie is not a bad idea, but they will do nothing but the laziest Horror movie just so they can be the first who benefit from the Hype of these IPs.
And that sucks.

You can do Horror with these IPs, but make it interesting instead of the laziest cash grab.

Believe it or not, there is another Popeye movie coming 2025. Exciting times to live in. :o

****, at this point I'd welcome a shot-for-shot remake of Kramer vs. Kramer with Popeye and Olive Oyl because at least it wouldn't be another goddamn slasher movie.

A gory R-rated horror movie about a public domain children’s cartoon character?

That would probably be a much more interesting movies than...whatever this movie is going to be.

Okay, the Popeye movie already isnt the worst Popeye Horror movie coming out.
That looks worse than the first Winnie the Pooh horror movie.

I mean, it is a core of a lot of horror. Take something, and ask, but what if scary? And combine with how horror is able to have quick and cheap productions, yeah, they are likely going to be the first at bat for any public domain stuff.

It also is helpful in that making it horror helps avoid a lot of lingering copyright and trademark issues.

I think I'd like to see a straight-up Popeye action movie. Just a film about a grizzled badass sailor beating up bad guys. Possibly staring Jason Statham.
I burst out laughing at that. That would SO work! Staham already talks like Popeye a bit with that accent so wouldn't be much for him to do an action/comedy satire of Popeye!

Oh my god, that sounds like such a dumb fun idea i would love to see.
