You can't live life hating a whole group of people, its unfounded and it'll rot you from the inside out... Guess what...no joke, I'm serious...I'm 36 and consider most 20-Somethings to be "kids". I know plenty of people who made stupid decisions in their 20's and 30's. Personally I have honestly noticed a gigantic difference in my reasoning since I've been 36 years old.
Perhaps no one should be allowed to buy a gun, go to war, choose to work in the pornography industry, drink alcohol, procreate, get a tattoo or smoke until they are 36 years old.

Maybe creating restrictions based on age is arbitrary, but it serves a purpose.
I'm not the biggest advocate of government control yet I realize that sometimes a line must be drawn.
There isn't much difference between a 16 year old and an 18 year old either, but most of us would be ****ting bricks if a law was passed today allowing them to be in porn.
I was suggesting something within a preexisting framework, I looked at the legal age of drinking and compared the consequences of drinking with my perceptions of consequences of appearing in porn at a young age, and couldn't image why porn was considered any more acceptable then getting trashed.

You said that all avenues for success are closed off. That is not the case. You also said that their families will ostracize them. That would be the problem of the unloving, prudish family, not the porn performer.....and, don't you think people are aware of these possibilities when they decide to go and be filmed having sex with people for money?
Do you think there is some 18 year old girl out there with a hot body who is skilled at ******io whose family is strongly opposed to pornography...who comes home and goes, "Guess what Mom and Dad!! I got this great job screwing strangers for MONEY! "...and then is completely taken aback when they get mad?

Thinking of it, maybe in a lot of the cases these people aren't coming from the most stable of families, then you have a bunch coming from apparently normal families... I'll admit I didn't know, and still don't know enough about the dynamics of a porn persons family and social life to know how it all pans out for them in the long run, I was just making what I believed to be an educated guess.

Some of these people do it as a means to lash out at their families, and for other such bad reasons, and sometimes their just quite ****ty with Hollywood aspirations and I contend that maybe a few years would make a difference.

I look at the porn industry the same way I look at the cigarette, gambling or alcohol industry.

People who make and produce porn, as well as the sites that host it, are providing a service that isn't necessarily a positive influence on society in general, but it's an in-demand form of entertainment and distraction that should exist as a choice (within legal limitations of course).

I think we still have to look at this in relative terms, though. The problem is how do we define what's right for society in general? It's very vague. Obviously, there are countless people who could argue how porn might affect society positively, even people in organized religion. I'd probably be far more insecure about sex and my own sexuality without porn. My parents never told me ANYTHING about sex. Contrary to family sitcoms and drama shows, I was never sat down and given "The Talk". And this applies to a lot of stuff parents should be talking to their children about.
