Portal 2

Here's the cover art, it's for the 360 but it's pretty much the same regardless on which platform.

ROBOTS! I love that they didn't bother to try and "humanize" the robots. They are literally just the personality cores and turrets from the first game with arms and legs. It kind of makes them cartoonish and fun without leaving the realistic visual style established in Portal and Half-Life.

I really love those robots. It's strange they didn't put Chell or Glados on the cover though.

I'm surprised they didn't go with another mock safety diagram, actually. Those diagrams with the guy falling into a portal or getting killed in gruesome ways were pretty prominent in Portal's visual style.

Some pretty awesome news for Portal 2. Valve just announced cross platform play between PS3 owners and PC/Mac. On top of that, if you buy the PS3 version of Portal 2, you get a free copy for your PC by tying your PSN account to your Steam account. Here's the link to the article:

I was going to buy the PC version when it came account, but now I'll definitely be picking up a copy for PS3. Very excited about this announcement, and can't wait to see what else comes out of this Sony/Valve "friendship".

If that's true, I suspected as much.

I would love to read that theory if you happen to find it.

I couldn't find the video but this guy more or less said the same thing.
It seems alot people think this.

This is my theory regarding Portal 2 and Halflife 2: Episode 3. I think the Portal may not only have been conceived within the Halflife 2 universe as reference, but a key component of the story itself.

In the Halflife 2 cannon we know the Borealis mysteriously disappeared and that it involved Apature scientists who made a critical error when competing with Black Mesa. It is mentioned in Episode 1/2 from a message sent via video from Judith Mossman's character. It explains that whatever is on the boat can either help or be used by the combine. In the ships schematics that can be found in the Episode 2 game files, we see Glados name within them.

In Halflife 2, we are given an indication in Halflife 2 that Gordon Freeman hasn't aged, perhaps alluding to a form of stasis. The Gman characters apparently has ability to manipulate time, this is indicated in several sequences during Halflife 2 and it's episodic content. In Episode 2 we are told of two warnings given by the Gmans character with the phrase prepare for unforeseen consequences given to Eli twice (one of which during the original Halflife which opened up a world to world portal) as well as Eli saying the more I think about it the more I think he's referring to the Borlalis i.e. not referring to getting killed... The Combine came to earth through a Portal and in Episode 1, the Combines Portal link to earth is closed. Logically in the story, the Combine need a Portal to succeed, a motivation. The link between time and portals is established in the main halflife 2 game. When Alyx Vance and your character, Gordon Freeman use the Combines teleportation device to escape in the later half of the game. They arrive, for what was them instantaneous, one week later.

Summed up

When the Borealis disappeared, it shifted in time to place in limbo back to it's current time due to events in Portal 2. Portal 2 will take place on the Borealis, concluding with the Borealis being returned out of that state of limbo to it's current time. The events in Portal 2 (whatever it is) play a key role in Halflife 2: Episode 3.

Valve has done alot of crossover stuff with there games, along with others.

Anybody else ever get dizzy when playing the first one too long? After a few hours of playing I always felt like I was going to vomit. Obviously if you play any game too long you usually feel this way, but with Portal it comes a lot faster. But it's hard to stop playing once you get on a roll.

I'm going to stop looking at new stuff, I think showing off abit too much could take away quite abit from the suprises of playing the game for the first time.

Yeah, same here. I've kind of been keeping my head in the sand with this game for a while now. I want it to feel as fresh as possible the first time I play it.

TV ad.

It just dawned on me that Portal 2 is less than a month away. :woot:

Ah, i'm so excited for this damn game. I wish it could come out tomorrow.

Well, I just pre-ordered off steam. Got a great deal! Two copies for $80. I can't wait!!

If you buy the PS3 version, you get two copies for $60. :oldrazz:

It's actually three. If you buy the pc version, you get two copies and Portal. Or depending how you look at it, one, as it's probably linked to a single account.
I bought one for myself amd my brother and now am stuck with two copies of Portal which I can't seem to get rid off as everybody already has it. If anyone wants a copy portal just ask, you will need a steam account.

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions, but that bathysphere has the same color scheme as the Kraken Base, an underwater lab that was cut from Half-Life 2 and was supposed to be in the same portion of the game as the Borealis.
