Been chatting with Paul Hepker (above) regarding the potential for him getting the gig on Wolverine. He does not have the job but he obviously wants it. He worked with Gavin on both Rendition and Tsotsi. He's a very cool guy and welcomes the fans to chat with him at his myspace page about his work. Check it out!

This could be good. It's always nice when directors are able to work with people they're familiar with.

I'm hoping he'll join up here and talk about his work or link us to his works. :) Hey Paul are you reading this? ;)

Nice find AD. Just like the director i'm not familar with this man's work so this leaves neither warm nor cold.
This could be good. It's always nice when directors are able to work with people they're familiar with.
That's very true but sometimes directors don't get to choose who they work with. For example....how else could it be explained that David Julyan isn't scoring the new Batman movies? Not that i'm not happy with what Hans Zimmer and James Newton-Howard's work. It's just that one can't help but wonder why he's scored all of Nolan's movie except the Batman ones (incl The Prestige).

Well then Retro it's your mission to hunt down some samples of his work and post it here or watch Rendition and Tsotsi. :)

^ Good idea. I'm gonna rent Tsotsi after I get back from the con. I saw some snippets on youtube but the scenes were not using any score at all and I'm not sure if the trailers would be using the same composer as the film or not.

It looks like this guy Mark Kilian also works along with Paul and Gavin. His site has some music samples. :) He did work on some mainstream films including Elektra. I hated Elektra as a film...but the score was great.

There's a jukebox on his site with his work. :)

I had messaged both on MySpace last week about if they were working on Wolverine, but have not heard from either one of them. Maybe someone else should try :p

I'm not really familiar with their work, but like said above, it's good when the director can work with those he's familiar with.

I chatted with Paul but obviously he's not gonna reveal anything he's not supposed to right now about a project that is not his. I just started this thread because these guys have worked with Gavin quite a bit already.

matrix addtional music.... sounds good.

not thrilled... but not bothered

Hi AD (and Superherohypers)-
Thanks for starting this thread. Sorry it took a while to get here - but things are pretty crazy on Rendition right now. In the final throes of post-production: orchestral session on Aug 1, mixing and final dub through to the end of August...
Regarding Tsotsi and Rendition: I worked with fellow South African (and friend) Mark Kilian. If Wolverine were to come our way we would both do it. (As co-composers).
I'm afraid I didn't get a1ant's message on myspace. (Unless he used the alias hot'n'horny...) I will certainly attempt to reply to any messages I receive.
There are some examples of my work on the iPod on my myspace page. I'd say Tsotsi and Rendition would give a better idea of what I (we) do..
I'd be happy to share what I know about working with Gavin - obviously the Wolverine gig is not ours yet, and, should it become ours, there will be non-disclosure agreements to sign... :(
Look forward to connecting with you.
Peace,
Paul

Thanks for taking the time to join the Hype. Good luck with the rest of Rendition and hopefully we'll be able to hear more from you regarding Wolverine.

Well the more I see of your work the better I feel about you hopefully being part of it. It gets tiring when they recycle the same big composers over and over. Good luck and thanks for coming.

Thanks. We hope we get the job too. But more than anything - hope we can live up to the high expectations of the Wolverine fans.

If you have any tips for Gavin that you want passed on - I'd be happy to be the conduit. I'm trying to get him onto myspace so people can IM him directly.

Just so you know: he visited this site a couple of times before and after signing on for the movie. He is heartened by the positive response from you all. So thanks!

Enjoy comic-con this weekend. I'll be working. :-(

Could be worse, though!

Peace!

Nice to see you around, Paul! I really hope you and Mark get the gig! :)
It´s also great to know that Gavin has visited the Hype. Maybe he'll join too. I'm glad that he's the director who'll be responsible for this project that is so dear to my heart.
Thanks, man...cheers! :D

Hey Paul any updates you can share??? Let us know I'm pulling for your group to all stay together. :)

He said they'd hopefully find out by October, but that things are looking good
