Possible movement on Black Widow spin-off?

I have to ask myself, where could direct that.
My first choice would -obviously- the Russos, but I think they will be done.
Thankful Whedon is TeamDC at the Moment, so I would give Dee Grees a try?

I'm happy the film's happening. Better late than never. Scarlet literally looks like she hasn't aged in the last 15 years. If they wanted, they could probably pick and choose what years to set it in (Infinity Formula).

Because when Kitty Pryde was announced some of the same people said how it doesn't make since to make it now but it does for this. There's some hypocrisy in that. I didn't even start anything people replied to me not the other way around. Just because I'm not as happy about this doesn't mean I don't want others to be.

There would hypocrisy if it wasn't for some fundamental differences. Context is everything.

^Yeah it would be off brand too much to go R-rated. Says the person who trolls the X-Men boards with your "MCU is better" remarks. Take your own advice.:whatever:

I'm a troll now?

If you search my posts, you'll see me saying Deadpool was the best film of 2016 and Logan being arguably the best CBM ever made....How does that factor into your "MCU is better" narrative about me? I've certainly critiqued Fox and definitely prefer the MCU in general, but it's not just simply a for or against scenario with me.

Look don't put words on my keyboard. I said you've trolled not that you were a troll. I didn't even have to look I am literally just posting the last two post I saw on the Dark Phoenix board.
In that case, expect to be miserable and find 'pure cinema' elsewhere.

Sounds harsh, but I truly think it'll be in your best interest.

And ours.

So from what I've seen online then, nobody actually likes the X-Men.

Anyway... I hope that Scarlett goes back to being a red head in the solo film because the blonde isn't working for me.

Eh, the first one was in response to a poster who has used the same 'anti-MCU' line for awhile. I said I respected his opinion, but disagree for the most part in a later post. I didn't enter the thread to antagonize.

Second was a response to a silly generalization about X-Men fans.

If that's trolling then I'm guilty, but I don't want to stir the pot.

Yes, redheads are kissed by fire.

I would have been fine with a BW movie after Avengers 1. I just don't have enough interest in her since then. I would see it because it is MCU and I have yet to be disappointed.

Unless it is a flashback origin I am not sure what mission she can do alone and not just call her powered friends for help. Unless everyone is a Skrull and she can't trust her closest friends.

Well she is a spy, that often requires subtlety. Like no flashy Avengers.

Yeah, she could play a wide variety of ages if they needed her too.

Maybe now we'll get...

SCARLET JOHANSSEN as NATASHA ROMANOV/BLACK WIDOW
SHAWN ASHMORE as BOBBY DRAKE/ICEMAN
BEN HARDY as WARREN WORTHINGTON/ANGEL
NICHOLAS CAGE as JOHNNY BLAZE/GHOST RIDER
& TATE DONOVAN as the voice of HERCULES

...in...

CHAMPIONS OF LOS ANGELES: THE MUSICAL

Most of her pals could be physically or mentally damaged, depowered, retired or dead. Or shes trying to protect them by leaving them out of her business.

The idea of Natasha having to get back into the ugly business of international intrigue after a prolonged absence is much more interesting to me than a prequel origin.

At last, Marvel is making the movie that everyone seems to has convinced themselves that they want. Okay.

This movie needs to 100% happen. I think it should somehow involve Natasha's past, and Hawkeye should co-star :)

Maybe a cameo by a certain Captain :oldrazz:

Honestly, this film is a long time coming. I think this should have happened in phase 3. Where they left off after Civil War would have been a good opportunity to have a movie about Black Widow after going on the run. Would have been cool. Never the less, I welcome this movie.

All of the above! Cameo only for Cap so he doesn't overshadow the film.

Agreed. I would not want him to overshadow the movie, either. But, I want proof of life beyond Avengers 4, LOL!!!

Cant say I been clamoring for a Black Widow film but if its Marvel Studios I likely will be seeing it. Sounds like it could be cool different concept.

2) If you think this will be a straight up espionage film than that's crazy

I really liked Waiti's comments.

“[I’d like to see] Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be,” he continued. “Because we know her story and it’s very sullen and very dark and her history is very dark. But! What’s the funny version of that? What’s the more entertaining version of that?”
I interpret that as a Black Widow movie that is far more like Kingsman than like Bourne. I think we've already seen the female Bourne in Atomic Blonde, and while it was cool, Bourne's latest entry itself isn't a blockbuster anymore, so how can aping Bourne lead to a blockbuster? Kingsman is a proven success, the nostalgic evolution of the spy genre AND has faltered, leaving it's 'space' open. Partnering up Widow with someone young, dumb and in need of mentorship could lead to a really cool arc and action set up and comedy. Leanng more into the out there 70's Bond/Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD comics gadgetry and conspiracy can only lead to cooler things.

I'm all for it including and alluding to and bringing up her past, but I'm not here for a 2 hour flashback. Budapest was a great gag, but it's only worth a ten minute scene to revisit, and we've already seen the Red Room.

Hmmmm?

Lol, don't hate. It's not our fault Marvel turned Black Widow into the most relevant superheroine on the planet. Blame Perlmutter for there not being a better candidate for a female led superhero film.

Honestly, I am not sure as far as tone what I would want, but I think this should land a female director. I love Taika, but female directors have had fewer chances with the MCU, I would like to see this as a stepping stone for some up and coming female talent.

I concur.

While Ava DuVernay or Katheryn Bigelow would be a dream, it might be more MCU-like and interesting to get someone like Susanne Bier from Night Manager or Lexi Alexander from Punisher: War Zone could be really great.
EDIT: I Wasn't suggesting Taika direct, only that he had a great angle that Feige should probably take into consideration, at least.

Yeah we need him to sign another 9 picture deal and keep his cameo streak going!

Somewhat of a pleasant surprise, actually. I know nothing about Black Widow outside of what's already been shown or alluded to in the MCU (and I probably wouldn't see this in theaters) so what if any stories does she have that could be solo movie fodder? And should we assume that this starts a new multi-film solo franchise? I can't quite see it, but it would be cool to have a familiar old face around for a while post-Infinity, particularly if some of the original six Avengers are dying or effectively not coming back after the Thanos clash.

Honestly, I'd bet it would be a new story, not necessarily "based" on an existing comics story. More Guardians of the Galaxy than Winter Soldier, or perhaps more like Winter Soldier, she'd be inserted into a comic book story that she wasn't in originally. If they do go with a comic storyline, The Champions, The Thunderbolts, The Winter Guard and The Initiative all make for interesting vectors for her to travel in, and there are some Avengers friends and villains who don't work for a team up movie, but could be interesting for her solo.

Done with the MCU? CBMs?

Nah. They don’t need to go (overly) comedic with this. The movie should be about as funny as WS.
