Possible movement on Black Widow spin-off?

Hey wouldn't it be fun if they included Monica Chang in this movie? I mean, they're obviously getting ready for miles so there's no reason the ultimate u and 616 can't meld in the MCU. I wonder who could play her?

I think there's a lot of room for all sorts of more obscure Marvel characters here, from the UU included. Isn't Helen Cho basically Monica Chang though?

Not really, the only thing they had in common was that they're both Asian women.

In the Ultimate Comics, Monica Chang became the second Black Widow and was Ultimate Nick Fury's ex-wife. She later on became Director of SHIELD. In the 616 universe, she's the head of SHIELD's AI Division.

So no, she's nothing like Helen Cho aside from being Asian.

So, for me, I associated Cho being a resident expert on AI-related tech with the 616 resident AI expert. Them having the same "Ch" sound for the last name seemed like a dead giveway at the time that this was Korean MCU Monica Chang. I get that could be a bit of a stretch, as their job descriptions are different, but they seem nearly identical in terms of story role. But hey, that may just be me, and I definitely forgot how different the UU version was, which is definitely who I thought I was talking about.

Regardless of my weirdness, it may indeed be interesting to have the UU Monica Chang, and in fact, a whole Chinese plotline involving her and Jimmy Woo wouldn't go amiss.

“I think that there is a…(laughs) it’s such a loaded question. Yes, I would want to in the right context and for the film to fit where I’m at, where I am in my life. I mean I’ve played this character for a long time. It’s been probably like 8 years or more, and so much has happened in my life, my life as a performer and happened in my life personally

Where I’m at in life makes me think maybe widow as a mum? That would be interesting. Maybe they would alter things a bit and have yelena as her daughter?

Maybe she has a gamma baby with Hulk. MCU's Carmilla Black

It's there man, burned into the cinemantic history of the character. Canker scar that won't heal.

I didn't think the Banner/Natasha romance in AoU was bad. But, I hope they don't continue it. Time has passed between films, just let that flame die. I am sure they will mention it to some degree though.

Black Widow does she deserve her own solo film? I say hell yeah but then who would be the villain or villains for her franchise?

Ideally it would have to tie into her past somehow. Maybe someone like Viper/Madame Hydra? I know they used the Madame Hydra name in AoS, but they always can use just not call her that.

Probably Yelena Belova. Not as the main villain, but as the dragon. Who would be the main villain? How about Aleksander Lukin. He appeared in the Winter Soldier arc in Captain America, but he could fit well in a Black Widow movie. A corrupt CEO of a company, like Justin Hammer, looking to restart the Black Widow program, with Belova as his right hand and Natasha has to stop him from succeeding.

If it is about restarting the Black Widow program, maybe Taskmaster?

That would be cool and you can even add Clint/Hawkeye in her solo film or have Bucky or Steve show up

I always like to go to the original source on quotes to get the full story. Here's what she immediately follows the line that screenrant stops with in the full interview:

"I think that there's definitely an opportunity to explore Widow as a woman who has come into her own and is making independent and active choices for herself, probably for once in her life. She hasn't always had that possibility. So, if it fit those criteria, then, yes, I do want to do it."

Whereas when she was younger she was tossed around a bit, now she, both professionally and personally, has more agency, takes more initiative, something that neither she, nor Natasha could do ten or even five years ago. Those are her criteria, so if someone comes to her with a story about a Widow who isn't independent, but has a baby, it won't fit her criteria, and she's not interested.

There's lots of options

Yelena Belova - Black Widow II, could be a lot of fun, and fits the Marvel evil version of self first villain trope
Red Guardian - Ex Husband Super Soldier, could be a ton of fun emotionally and physically
The Whole Winter Guard Honestly - A Russian Avengers for her to interact with that I'm sure will go south
Thunderbolts - She infiltrated them in the comics, she'd be great for introducing them in the MCU
AIM - Bring 'em back with Beekeeper suits and MODOK and you will win the world, again, another great thing for her to infiltrate
Serpent Society - Was the original plan for Cap 3, might as well give it to Widow.
Any evil MCU organization not tied to a specific Avenger honestly - You could do ZODIAC, or The Maggia or the Femizons, you've got OPTIONS.
Taskmaster - Long overdue for the MCU, would make a great foe for Black Widow
Black Lotus - Totally D-lister, but she keeps coming up on Black Widow villain lists, so hey, put 'er in there.

Those are all the best ones, I think, no disrepsect to Lukin but -YAWN-. I suspect what we end up with will be combinations of things, just as Ego and Hela were combinations of villains or story specific pieces of things, just as Vulture and Zemo were only the things the story needed of them and not their full background/abilities from comics.

If it is a Black Widow trilogy of films my picks for villains would be:

First film- Yelena Belova (Black Widow II)
Sequel- Serpent Society
Threequel- Taskmaster

I think the best idea from the list is Taskmaster with Yelena Belova as one of his prized assassins. Maybe she even turns on him. Heck, with Taskmaster, we could insert others like Red Guardian into the film. Many possibilities.

Yes but if any of the Avengers show up in her film it would take the focus off of her unless they put in someone like Clint or even Nick Fury then she would be the main focus

I think Clint being in Black Widow is likely. Could also see Bucky. No other Avengers, though.

If I remember correctly, Taskmaster has been on their radar for a while, and he seems to me like the best fit for a villain here.

I hope this film happens. And it would mean we get more of these lower powered original characters after Avengers 4 rather than all the originals being retired off.

Some rumors. Sounds pretty vague so I wouldn't put much stock into it (especially the Daredevil thing.)

The two time period setting is ok, but I don't like the idea of the entire film being set pre IM2. I'd much prefer seeing a retired BW getting back into the game like a teeny Liam Neeson. Hopefully whoever Feige hires to direct this thing gets this thing out of the past.

I cannot watch the video. What are the cliffnotes?
