After rewatching the MCU films, I'm shaking up my list a bit, and not for the first time either. Guardians Vol. 2, while fun and IMO still a good movie, starts to show its flaws more upon further viewings, much like Age of Ultron. So I decided to move it down in favor of films like Iron Man and Black Panther.

[Batmannerism]

I often change my views, but here goes:

1. Guardians of the Galaxy, a film that I could watch over and over and never get tired of.

2. Civil War, only comes second to Guardians because Guardians is funnier and has the best soundtrack of any cbm.

3. Iron Man, created the formula on which all MCU origin films were based. A truly great cbm. And ACDC !

4. Guardians of the Galaxy 2, unlike many I loved this film and laugh out loud every time I see it. "Mantis, look out !" ha ha ha, see I'm laughing now. And Kurt Russell, it's awesome.

5. Captain America TWS, amazing action, a strong story - it comes after CW, because CW manages to fit in more characters successfully. This movie made me start changing my mind about Cap, who previously I thought was Marvel's most boring character.


6. Black Panther - people will hate me for this, but as much as I liked it while I was watching it, it didn't really stay with me that long, really good movie though !
I liked the characterisation of T'Challa as a guy who forgives, and who tries to make the world better. Lots of familiar story points, but done in a fresh way - I believe it earns its hype, but personally I still prefer the above movies.


7. Thor: Ragnarok, hilarious and great action. A great fun film, and Thor v Hulk ? gotta love this one - and of course Led Zeppelin are my favorite band.


8. Homecoming, my fave Spidey film so far. Even though he was a major screw up I felt like they really captured the essential essence of Peter Parker as an awkward teen crime fighter.

9. Doctor Strange, yeah, it's Iron Man but with magic, but great fun and amazing visuals. Plus Tilda Swinton killed it as the ancient one, and Cumberbatch was note perfect as the lead.

10. Avengers Age of Ultron, I prefer this to the first one. Ultron was a bit of a letdown, and it was a bit long, but otherwise I enjoyed it a lot.


11. Avengers, great fun, for the first hour the heroes do a lot of standing around, but when it picks up speed it's great.



12. Thor TDW: unlike many I really enjoyed this movie. Hemsworth and Hiddleston and Hopkins were great. Eccleston and Portman were a bit disappointing, and no film is ever made better by more Kat Dennings - but the Dark Elves were sufficiently creepy and interesting.


13. Thor, formulaic, but a strong cast - and Hemsworth was born to play this role....just not any others. Some good homage to the comics.


14. Ant Man, another MCU formula origin story, but with a few neat twists on the tale.

And the rest are pretty much all the same to me.

I think Im nearing the point of BP oversaturation, it was good but not so amazing (imo) as to be topping the box office of nearly every other marvel film... that its so easily beating ragnarok and winter soldier, 2 imo superior films, is a bit of a bummer

Er idk, not a bummer i guess, im excited its making so much, i just wish audiences respond this way to every great marvel film equally I suppose

Nice to see Iron Man 3 on so many lists. It gets a foul rap from the fanboy community, but it's really pretty well-made, memorable, enjoyable and subversive in so many great ways.

The funny thing is that the worst part of that movie for me is the huge explosive climax with all the suits-- it should be the most fan-favorite part but it goes on way too long and is just so much noise.

Doctor Strange moves up to 7

Homecoming moves down to 9

Black Panther moves down to 8

Only saw BP once, and the more I thought about it, while it was a really good film, it didn't have the same interest level for me. Having said that, I still believe it has earned its success and my hat is off to Ryan Coogler for such an enjoyable film.

On the other hand, Ragnarok and Dr Strange I saw a couple of times and they really captured my interest - particularly Ragnarok.

Homecoming....well, I really enjoyed it, but I'm in no hurry to see it again.

I'm sure these views will change again - after Infinity War.
