Everything will bomb because everyone is more concerned on filling the gas tank and paying outrageous prices for food to bother with a $12 movie ticket.

People that pay $12 for a movie ticket don't need to see a movie.

The Love Guru is sheer bet. People keep saying Narnia may flop but Lewsi novels are teh second most read books behind Tolkien novels that is before Harry Potter came along. My point is i see no reason why it woul flop sure Indy opens the next weekend but Narnia is actually a good fantasy movei to fallow.

Speed Racer is such an obvious flop that it probably had 'flop' written on the script.

'SPEED RACER'
a flop written by Larry and Andy Wachowski

This'll be interesting summer indeed.

So we must give up on actors after one bad movie?
No, but I just find it strange that Will Smith hasn't lost steam yet. No one stays on top forever. Haven't, like, all of his movies since "Independence Day" opened at #1 at the box office? People can't seem to get enough of the guy. His movies aren't that great (except for "Pursuit of Happyness"), though I do like the concept of "Hancock".

If Thunderbirds lost about $50M, Speed Racer is guaranteed to lose about $75M. I don't see any other movie from that list achieving anywhere near that amount of ineptitude.

I think a sure hit will be Indy 4, TDK, Harry Potter 6, and Iron Man other then that i expect alot of low 185-216 million dollar movies i guess i predict alot of average domestic box office taking ins

Why does everyone think "Speed Racer" will fail? It's got cars raing in it, and that's all kids need to know. Not to mention many of their parents will want to take them because they loved the cartoon as kids. And you have to factor in all the 18-35 crowd who will see this movie while under the influence.

Out of the movies listed, definitely Meet Dave or The Love Guru.

But, in terms of the BIGGEST flop? Maybe X-Files 2. I dunno, but I don't think a lot of people are expecting much out of that movie and it hasn't received the sort of promotion that it should be getting.

I kinda agree. This year the box office has been affected by the recession. This time last year we already had like 3 or 4 movies that had made over 100 million at the box office. This year the only one has been Horton. Comes to show that less people are going to the theaters.

No, but I just find it strange that Will Smith hasn't lost steam yet.

It's only been 12 years. Mel Gibson was on from the first Mad Max in 1979 till 2004 with Passion of the Christ. And the only reason he lost steam was cause of his personal life. Thats ALSO what happened to Tom Cruise in `05 with the whole Oprah and Katie Holmes stuff. Will Smith still has a few years left in him.

Haven't, like, all of his movies since "Independence Day" opened at #1 at the box office?

No. He has had flops. Remember Bagger Vance or whatever. You know...that golf movie. And I don't recall Ali being a box office hit. It was critically acclaimed and Smith got an Oscar nod but I don't recall it being a money maker.

Yeah, but has there really been that movie everyone wanted to see out yet this year? The last movie I saw in the theater was I Am Legend, haven't even been interested in anything else. It's not the recession it's crappy movies.

Also, everyone stop talking about a movies lack of advertising if it's over a month away. All movies real advertising comes in the month before release, two weeks before being the biggest push. Every year it's the same thing, such and such movie isn't getting any advertising, the general public won't know about it, then we get 2-3 weeks before the release and it's everywhere. Once Iron Man opens, then Marvel will start promoting Hulk.

As for my pick of a flop, I think Narnia, it'll at least underperform compared to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. TLTWTW is the story everyone is familar with from the Narnia stories, Prince Caspien isn't nearly as well known of a story, it's being released in an already cluttered May and fantasy movies are more geared towards winter, Harry Potter 3 being the prime example (5's success doesn't count so much because it had the final book's hype).

That or Speed Racer, it's not gonna have the female audience to succeed, mainly just fathers and sons and the dads and kids might want to see Iron Man instead. I think it would've been better to release it later in the summer.

I forgot about The Mummy. That's gonna flop hard most likely.

Well...you had Sarah Marshall last week and today Harold and Kumar opened.

Oh yeah, wanna see Harold and Kumar, probably won't make it to that this weekend though. Will probably wait till Sarah Marshall hits video.

Well I simply voted for the closest one but I predict ALL OF THE FOLLOWING MOVIES (even a few I want to see) will flop.

-Speed Racer (I want to see this, but I think anyone can look around and see the words bomb on it coming from a mile off)

-The Incredible Hulk (there is literally no hype for this movie and the audience I saw the excellent Forgetting Sarah Marshall with laughed it off the screen)

-Wanted (looks horrible)

-The Mummy 3

-G.I. Joe

-Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

-Dragonball

And I have a feeling The Love Guru could flop as well, but that one I'm not so sure on.

If Zohan, The Love Guru and Meet Dave dont flop, I'll be shocked.

Another interesting question, what do y'all think will be the surprise hit of the summer?

I'm putting money on Mamma Mia! pulling a Devil Wears Prada/Hairspray number at the box office around TDK come July.

I also don't see why people think Will Smith's Hancock will flop. It is him returning to comedy in a summer blockbuster, won't happen. Audiences will eat that crap up.

Why isn't this on the list?
