President Rudy create huge support for gay rights?

But do you respect the wishes of the pedophile? If not then by your own definition you are a bigot.

contrare. you can do whatever you want with your own life, but not the lives of others. There is no contradiction between that and opposing bigotry.

Completely agree. At any rate, I doubt Guliani being President would change many people's minds on this subject. Too many of the right-wingers are hardcore Bible Belters with some pretty narrow and staunch views on the topic.

Oh Contraire back to you...

YOUR definition of a "bigot" had nothing to do with the lives of others...

bigot means to be unaccepting or intolerant of another lifestyle, culture, tradition, or whatever.

I know what you meant though...but you should choose your definitions more carefully. :cwink:

well that culture, lifestyle, and traditions had to belong to somebody. Probably those others I was referring to.

Too many, it seems like most of them are except for Mark Foley.

IF THE REPUBLICANS WANT TO WIN, THEY'LL NOMINATE EITHER HIM OR MCCAIN. OTHERWISE THEY'VE AUTOMATICALLY LOST THE ELECTION TO THE DEMOCRATS (UNLESS IT'S HILLARY CLINTON).

AND I THINK THAT RUDY COULD GARNER SOME SUPPORT FOR IT, BUT IN THE END, THE MAJORITY OF THE REPUBLICANS WILL STILL BE OPPOSED TO IT.

I'm not so sure McCain is the sure-shot candidate he was a couple of years ago. He's really been selling out his ideals and flip-flopping a lot lately and that's pissed a lot of his more liberal and moderate supporters off. I, for one, don't trust him as much as I did before. It all depends on who he's running against and if he can make amends for his recent mistakes.

you know no matter a position a president takes on abortion or gay marriage they still have little or no effect on the law, because the president does not have the power to ammend the constitution.

but his flip flopping on taxes is still B.S.

Guiliani is one of the few Republican politicians out there right now who doesn't make me physically ill, so I expect that's a pretty big compliment for him.

And, I think gay marriage is coming, no matter what the Bible Belters want. Maybe not this year, maybe not in five years, but it's coming. Because eventually the younger generations are going to be the ones in control, and younger generations consistently poll as being more in support of gay rights.

He makes a valid point though, the Republican powers that be, will have to support it simply because their "man" does.

That is exactly why Giulliani will never win a presidential primary.

This is the reason why I'm interested in seeing what happens with the Republicans in 2008. Their best bet, I would assume, is to nominate a moderate like McCain or Guiliani after eight years of George Bush. But at the same time, considering their moderate platforms, whether or not they will both lose the nomination to a more conservative candidate.

Out of curiosity, who do you see winning the Republican nomination, Matt?

well aren't you quick to judge

judging has nothing to do with it. tha'ts like calling somebody racist after they say something racist.
