An annoucement from Bethesda Softworks.

Bethesda Softworks today announced the development of Prey 2, set for release in 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Development is being handled by the original team, Human Head Studios, and is being built on the "cutting edge" id tech engine from id Software.

"We are thrilled to be working with Bethesda on Prey 2," said Chris Rhinehart, project lead. "Prey 2 will provide gamers the opportunity to explore a new facet of the Prey universe, one that offers fast-paced action in an open, alien world. We're excited to show gamers the title we have been working on and hope they will be as excited by this title as we are."

And Prey 2 is on the cover for Gamereactor's next issue, I wish I was back in Sweden so I could get it.

I enjoyed from the little I've played, but I never had the time to finish the game.

I kinda liked the look of the character in the first game, not really many native Indian heroes. Now the main character looks like some sort of generic Sam Fisher/Shepard hybrid.

Yeah, that's one aspect that make the first game unique. That and the spirit form, which does connect with having a protagonist that's native american. Now if they do change the protagonist in the second game it's kind of a bummer, but maybe they want to tell a different story. I still hope Tommy makes an appearance at least.

First Trailer

Looking forward to this. Glad that the game is using the same engine as Rage because the engine looks stunning.

Ill be the first to say this, just like Dead Island, I want this to be a full length film instead of a game using that animation.

Cool trailer I guess, I'm just kind of sick with live-action trailer but it's understandable since they can't really show in-game footage since it's still early in development.

Are you guys sure this isnt CGI? it looks kinda animated in some parts, maybe they did it in post.

edit double post

That trailer is live-action mix with CG, it's not the in-game graphics, though that would have been cool.

Details from the last issue of Game Reactor:

- Main character is Killian Samuels, sheriff and prison guard.
- Been in development for 3 years
- X360 main platform, PC and PS3 versions in development (as announced)
- Pretty nice graphics overall (not jaw-dropping but good), graphics style a mix of Bioshock and Mass Effect
- “Heavily inspired by Mirror’s Edge, but also Riddick and Blade Runner” – Producer
- Use the surroundings, big areas where you can sneak up on enemies using the shadows
- No multiplayer, 3D, Kinect or Move
- As said in the PR, 2012 release date
- Tommy/Intro spoiler: First level is basically the beginning of Prey, but instead of controlling Tommy you control Killian.
- Human head: “If the first Prey was the Luke Sywalker version of the story, Prey 2 is Bobba Fett’s story”.
- The project has been restarted several times
- Open game structure. “Go wherever you want, talk to whoever you want, do the missions you want”.
- “Killian as flexible and limber as Faith of ME, leaping over hights, hanging by arms from pipes, balancing on thin boards and jumping like a cat upwards structures”
- “An enhanced Killzone esque cover system, battles looks so flexible, brings your thoughts back to Vanquish”
- Parkour moments when being chased by enemies
- Money can be used to upgrade your armor, weapons, but also abilities, example to make enemies hover in the air
- HH: “Every area is comparable to Assassin’s Creed 2″, whatever that means. Planet is Exodus. Desert levels, big cities, “in the wilds”, cave areas
- GR: “It has the moving scheme from Mirror’s Edge, the freedom of Mass Effect and the fire fights of Killzone 2″ (writer loved Prey 1)
- Different kinds of ammo, weapons can be customized/rebuilt
- Producer: “Who would pick the MP mode of Prey 2 ahead of the one in for example Halo Reach? We’d rather to a really good SP adventure”
- There will be DLC
- There will be vag portals, but fewer on them and “with different looks”

I particulary like the NO MP part

I played the first one and enjoyed it.

This sounds spectacular. I'm already marking this up as a day one purchase.

Sounds neat. I didnt really care much for the first game, but im liking the abilities of this character more than the last guy.

Some great details about the game. I'm loving that it has a open-game structure and that Killian is flexible as Faith in Mirror's Edge, so you get to do some cool parkour.

Holy crackers; inspired by Mirror's Edge and Vanquish? Sign me up.

^ I agreed. It sounds good, makes me pretty excited for it.

More info on the game in the coming weeks.

They have the potential to do something really interesting here, here's to hoping they don't foul it up.

I loved the first Prey and found it to be a severely underrated game. Tommy was awesome.

But no multiplayer? That only makes me want the game even more!

From how I've heard the game described, it sounds like it can be awesome. I never played the first one, but heard alot of bad things about it. I have heard Tommy is supposed to appear in the game, though.

No multiplayer...makes me even more interested in the game.

I'm not going to post the E3 trailer here because it had profanity and I don't want to break the rules. Anyway, if the live-action/CG trailer was an indicator to what we could get in the gameplay or at least similar to it, that would be just awesome.

The trailer was pretty amazing. It looks like a mix of Blade Runner and Mass Effect to me.

IGN E3 Live Commentary video. You get to see some gameplay footage there.

The parkour in it looks great and the bounty hunter aspect is going to be fun.
