To be fair to Nolan, he is an expert at it. McDonald's apparently was pissed about their "blink and you miss it" spot. Batman Begins had a partnership with Dell Computers that they'd feature Dell everything when it came to Fox's office, Earl's TV, the Water Board's monitors, etc, in exchange for Dell running sweepstakes and advertising the Batman Begins DVD later in the year.

But yeah, there will be product placement in these films...just expect it to be done as Nolan did in Batman Begins.

In case you didn't notice, it was just because that was on the city street they were using.

As a matter of fact, if you watch carefully when the Semi is flipping over, one of the store fronts reads "Sweet Home Chicago".

Edit: Here it is -

There will be minimal product placement in TDK, just like BB.

I dont think product placement is going to hurt the movie. Only the most anal critics will be bothered by it I believe.

I could understand if it was extensive, and every other scene had some commercialized placement...yeah.

But I dont believe that'll be the case here.

Sure, I suppose that technically classifies as product placement, but if you hadn't said that those logs were, I honestly wouldn't have known. I spent time looking at the pictures before I read your post and had no idea what product they were aside from some computer and some car.

In my mind product placement is where you get a clear, blatant shot of a logo to clearly link movies/characters to product in order to sell more, so I don't really consider those things product placement... or at least it's not product placement that I care about.

to be fair though who REALLY is gonna notice

It's not a product placement if something wasn't placed there on purpose. What upsets people, actual placement or seeing them at all?

Yeah, you can also see the Chicago street signs for LaSalle and Monroe St if you pause the trailer at the correct spots.

So what is the point of this thread?

O yeah...I feel that showing the Starbucks in the background is acceptable because if Gotham City were real, it would have it's share of Starbucks on every corner.

Well its a pretty busy city, i dont know why Gotham would just turn into a ghost town randomly unless there was a reason. I mean other than starbucks, the rest of the city looks pretty desolate and empty.

There is a reason it is when a giant earth quake hits gotham city and the president declares it a no man's land...yep...another problem solved

It will probably be edited out in the final cut.

Quinten Tarantino is the best, he invents his own fake products for his films.

This one kind of had a point. It's a Lamborghini Murcielago, and "murcielago" is Spanish for "bat." (Although it was named after a bull with the same name, but...anyway.)

I thought it was a neat little reference. Besides, I'm not familiar with Lambos and now I only recognize them because of seeing BB. :oldrazz:

Man this is awesome. I'm totally using this all the time.

If you call that a product placement, then everything filmed is a "product placement."

It's just impossible to film on a location, espicially in a big city like Chicago, without some form of "product placement," and even more espicially in the case of Starbucks, where at this point there are more Starbucks stores then people on this Earth.

yes truly quotable and sig worthy :wow:

Geez i cant believe this speculation is still being discussed...anyways a starbucks building is absolutley nothing to get excited about and doesnt even mean at all that its product placement anyway. However we are going to see TDK advertised with other stuff like it or not (it really should be no big deal anyway). I read news a while ago last year from somewhere that kit-kat is going to stamp lil batarangs on thier candy. Its just fun folks, its business combining forces with other businesses to make money and promote one another...however the starbucks and those three pictures are totally not trying to make anything obvious

True

However, they are useful in my analysis of the trailer that will be posted in the next couple days - it's good to have points of reference :hoboj:

Apply directly to the forehead...

INT- BATCAVE - DAY
THE BATCAVE IS DARK AND DESOLATE EXCEPT FOR ALFRED WHO IS WAITING PATIENTLY. SUDDENLY A LOUD ROAR FILLS THE CAVE. THE TUMBLER ROLLS IN AND BATMAN EXITS HOLDING HIS HEAD.

BATMAN - Alfred! I have a raging headache. Scarecrow sprayed me with a hallucinogen and now I have a frightful headache.
ALFRED - You know whatch ya need Sir, head on.

ALFRED PULLS OUT A HEAD ON

BATMAN - Head on? How does it work?

ALFRED - Just apply to the forehead sir, like so

ALFRED PLACES IT ON BATMANS FOREHEAD

BATMAN - Amazing my headache is gone.

BATMAN AND ALFRED TURN TOWARD THE CAMERA

BATMAN - If it is strong enough to fight scarecrows weapons its strong enough for you.
