The Dark Knight Product Placement?

It is only product placement if it is blatently done. I think that most of the stuff will be removed if possible, and also stuff added, like the logo on Wayne Tower which is missing in the trailer. You could write an endless list of companies logo's in the trailer because it is only raw footage being used, didnt they only start editing the movie last month? If you were being picky though, from the spy pics etc, the only hint of sorts of product placement would be the use of the Ducati Motorcycle and the new Lamborghini Reventon - which was not even on sale when they were using it for filming. Check it out.

Had to do it....

^ NOT product placement

Product placement....

thats funny. sadly its not far from the truth.

as far as tdk there will undoubtedly be some logos to be found but the difference is nolan wont shoot a closeup of the lambo logo like in transformers and bruce wont reach for a can of perfectly framed dr. pepper.

and im willing to bet that almost all signs that identify the city as chicago will be removed as well as the starbucks in the background (although as someone pointed out im sure gotham has dozens of them)

I'm guessing we won't get Brand X commercials again :p

Well I think everyone's definition of product placement is slightly skewed...

I mean... Compare BB to Transformers, which was just a really really Really expensive GM advert.

If you didn't realise a product was there, then it wasn't product placement.

Die Another Day prominantly featured branding, and reshot scenes depending on the nation viewing it. You knew exactly what car Bond drove, what drinks he had and watch he wore. They made a point of featuring them, in some cases name checking them. Begins didn't have any of that. The Tumbler didn't have a large car logo on it, and the Batsuit wasn't Armani.

-"Mr. Bond, what a nice bespoke suit you're wearing, Armani?"
-"Why yes it is, say, can you make me a medium dry vodka martini, shaken, not stirred. And don't use that cheap vodka, use Smirnoff, it's triple distilled."
-"But of course Mr. Bond. But I hope you're not planning on driving your aston martin home after this!"
-"My aston martin that i drive?"
-"Yes your aston martin"
-"hmmm. you're right. Ooh, look at the time"
- .....
-"No, I mean look at the time, it's always right on my Citizen Eco Drive watch you know. I think your clock is slow.

etc etc etc.

Starbucks.. and how long before apple release the batPod ...

:ninja:

I was at the Chicago Board & Trade the other day and made a point to stop by that Starbucks. They asked if I wanted a shot of espresso in my coffee, I said "COME ON! HIT MEHHH!"

Nolan wont stoop to that low, I agree they'll probably edit out most of the company logos.

slightly off topic..but one can only wonder what this would be like with Michael Caine and the tumbler

Hey, don't knock the Michael Gouh Diet-Coke commercials.

OH NO TEH PRODUCT PLACEMENT HAS OFFISHALLY ROOINED TEH MOOVEE 4 ME THANXKSZ

Product placement is ANYTIME a product is placed in a film, in any form. Watch Seinfeld, when the cereal is visible in the background....product placement. When Chandler asks Monica on Friends, "Do we have any more Fruit Roll-Ups?" that's product placement.

When Superman throws Gerneral Zod into a giant Coca-Cola sign....product placement.

When Jonny Storm comments about the hemi in the FantastiCar....product placement.

When Bumblebee is a Chevy Camaro and Optimus Prime says that the Key to the universe was discovered through using "Ebay"....product placement.

Product placement can be blatant or subtle. It really depends on how much money the company paid the film and how much the filmmaker wants to have in his film. Nolan is a director that shys away from blatant product placement. But it is needed. It adds a lot of money to the budget so using it is in their best interest.

The first one hurt my soul.

The second one made me nauseous.

You know for such a DARK movie, I always forget how "popular" BR was and how much they marketed it to kids. Kind of twisted.
I concur about the clips hurting my soul.

And I still can't watch parts of BR. I have no idea how they were able to make Happy Meals out of that movie....

Oh yah, and I meant to ask you about that. How old WERE you when you saw that movie? And what are the parts you can't watch? :woot: I must know =)
