But I was also referring to sequels to games that were only released in Playstation. If a sequel is to be released for God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man 2018, Uncharted - it would be for sure going to be ps exclusives as the company behind those games are owned by Sony. Also Ghosts of Tsushima and Last of us 2 are in my wait list, and would be the first few games I'd played in ps5 as the price of those games would have been cut in half by next year and they are only playable through ps4 and ps5 (assuming ps5 has bc with ps4 games).

I was watching videos featuring games exclusive for ps4 and xbox. And there was like only one that I would consider buying if I had an xbox (Sunset Overdrive and maybe Gears of War). While ps4 have so many exclusives that I wanted to play and ended up buying it. And I didn't realize something like Street Fighter V is a ps4 exclusive as well.

Yeah i have never cared for xbox exclusive games and the few i have wanted to play on now on switch. I love nintendo and sony and i have a switch and now Cuphead is on switch, luky tails is on switch and got a better verson then what was on xbox. I am thinking about getting Ori and the blind forest it was at first only on xbox but came to switch last year. They are making a second Ori for just xbox but i am sure it will end up on switch later even if it takes a year or so. So the games that look the best to me on xbox seem to end up on switch later any way. The only game that i am really interested in on xbox is sunset over drive has i love love insomanic games hoping ps5 gets like a port of the game now has Insomanic owns the game and of course sony owns Insomanic now.

PS5 almost certainly will not have PS3 backwards compatibility; the GPU architectures are too different and it would cost too much to engineer a workaround. PS4/Pro is guaranteed, though, and PS1 & PS2 is unlikely but theoretically possible.

With all the rumors about ps5 being able to play ps1-ps4 i will be kind of dissapointed if it cant play them and i never had a ps1 or 2 only had 3 and 4 and so i want to be able to unplug both my 3 and 4 to save space have so many systems plug into my tv over the years has is.

if I'm going to be spending $400+ on a piece of tech, I want the design and look of it to be something I consider reasonably attractive and that goes with other devices in my house. it may not be a deciding factor, but it is a factor for me.
It’s important to me too. My gaming pc looks like a beast and I want the next gen game console to look the part along with my home cinema stuff. :word:

I want ps5 to look very 2020s, slick and futuristic.

That's what the prototype developer kit looks like but the design isn't doing it for you. Just make the top and sides solid instead of the weird n shape and bunch of vents sides and voila...magnificent! Especially if they have the silver and black as a special edition

Thatsnot slick. It looks like something that came out in the 80s, an 80s toy. It looks quite bulky and has too many holes.

It'll likely be PS5 for me. I have been a Playstation guy since the first console. I didn't even get Xbox One.

Have they officially stated if it will be backwards compatible though?

As usual for me, exclusives will be the deciding factor. I have a very good PC, so it's the platform of preference. I buy consoles only if they have something great that PC doesn't have.

I don’t think Microsoft care whether people are playing on Xbox or pc, as long as they are using Windows 10 and gamepass. That has to be the reason for brining all exlcusives to pc. They want the monthly subs. The console itself is like just another iPhone handset as part of a long term contract and I won’t be surprised to see another Pro console version in another 4 years.

Anybody know more or less how many exclusive IP's MS and Sony has? MS never had a large amount for Xbox and they've lost some over the years such as Sunset Overdrive and Titanfall. I'm curious about the difference now as PS must have massive content in comparison.

Yes. It's been confirmed to be backwards compatible almost a year ago, before it was even officially revealed to be named Playstation 5.

Because it’s based in part on the PS4’s architecture, it will also be backward-compatible with games for that console.
Exclusive: What to Expect From Sony's Next-Gen PlayStation

Are you asking for a list of Xbox games that are literally only on the Xbox console and not on PC?

This is a list of all of Sony's studios which are mostly exclusive IPs, which should answer the playstation side of your question

SIE Worldwide Studios - Wikipedia

A list of xbox game franchises(available on pc or not) and Playstation

Exclusives that interest me..

Playstation:

Detroit: Become Human
Fire Pro Wrestling
Ghost of Tsushima
God of War
Infamous
Killzone
Little Big Planet
MLB: The Show
Predator: Hunting Grounds
Spider-Man
Street Fighter V
The Last of Us
Uncharted

Xbox:

Dead Rising
Fable
Gears of War
Halo

...Well sh*t! Didn't realize the difference

No interest in Horizon Zero Dawn? Supposedly it's getting a PC port this year.

I've heard of it but don't know anything about it

Kind of early to ask this considering the PS5 hasnt been unveiled and details are still very scarce

It's an open world with a tribal sci-fi aesthetic (think Wakanda) by the studio behind Killzone. It's one of my favorite games this generation. Besides the fantastic story, what I really loved is how engaging the combat is. It's not just basic point and shoot, it requires more engagement in aiming at specific enemy weak points with the correct type of weapon to inflict maximum damage.

Well now there's another Playstation IP to my list! I don't have PC and so maybe they'll have a remaster for PS5 in a couple of years

Solid list, the only thing I'll comment is that I heard a rumour that Sony is going to make MLB multiplatform in a year or two

Considering Sony's track records for remasters you can certainly expect one on Ps5 to ramp people up for Horizon Zero Dawn 2 but even if there isn't one you can just play the Ps4 version on Ps5.

In my heart I'm still more of an Xbox guy and have been for each generation since day 1 but...I am questioning why now! I had a PS1-4 as well and only got rid of 4 because I needed money for a big trip but I sure regret it and more more. I keep finding new things

I don't think you need to wait for Horizon Zero Dawn's remaster. It came out in 2017 and still of the best looking games to date. Also its complete edition includes the dlc, which made the map larger and added a few more creatures.

And if you like games like Detroit Become Human, pick up Until Dawn. I don't know if you played Spider-Man but that is a must have for any ps4 owners.

Also, Death Stranding (though I haven't played it, since I'm still waiting for the original price to be cut in half) is a must, just for the story and experience imo.

The one ps4 eXclusive that I'm skipping is Days Gone, simply because zombie games stress me out and I'll just leave my zombie gaming experience to Resident Evil/Last of Us.
