Ps5 vs. Series X/S: Which next gen system are you leaning more towards?

Which next gen console are you leaning more towards purchasing?

Well at some point, there's going to be a second or better version of ps5 similar to its predecessors. Though would they launch a pro version and non pro version of ps5 at the same time? Would that even be a good idea?
they can’t afford to do that especially when they will likely be constrained by available parts to order for manufacturing

Let's hope it's nothing.
I think it's an awful idea. Having a more expensive unit available at launch is gonna remind everyone when there were two Ps3s at launch with the more preferable unit being the more expensive one. Also, if you wait to release the pro unit later in the generation, you can cut the price of the base model, price the pro unit the same as the base was at launch, and it could be more powerful than if it were a launch unit as well.
I want there to be a Pro version but would rather it released halfway through the generation, for the reasons you listed.

Exactly. Just like this generation.

I'll admit when the Ps4 pro was still just Neo, I hated the idea of it and hoped it wasn't even real but I caved, and it didn't necessarily affect those who kept their base Ps4 which remained the most popular (I think 1 in 5 Ps4s sold in 2017 were pros) console sold to consumers. Sony has a good system, so no need to fxck it up.

I still have the core Xbox One that I got a couple of months after launch

I almost bought the Xbone X at one point in time on eBay but got outbid. Didn't really feel like paying a premium for it and the main reason I wanted it was for the 4K Blu-ray player

I wanted the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X because they're a big deal as being the best but I don't have 4K yet as my tv is just 1080p and I didn't even made much of an effort to save up

I'd rather there NOT be multiple versions of each console at launch. save the Pro versions for the inevitable mid-cycle refresh.

I think with the Ps4 pro, you can still notice a difference even if all you have is a 1080p TV

Even though I'm waiting until next year or so, I want to know the release dates for both consoles as both are coming out this holiday season, which between thanksgiving and christmas..which is a just a month apart and so it'll be interesting to see how both do at launch with just days or weeks apart

Q4 could mean anywhere from 10/1 to 12/31. But PlayStations got a history of releasing in October and November. Xbone and Ps4 released about a week apart and they both sold a million on the first day.

I want an Assassin's Creed 12/Watch Dogs 3 bundle with the Ps5!

I could have sworn PS4 and XBO released a month or so apart. Maybe I'm thinking of PS3 and Xbox 360 or just a fuzzy memory

Ps4 release date: 11/15/2013
Xbone release date: 11/22/2013
Ps3 release date: 11/17/2006
360 releaste date: 11/22/2005

Eh. I don't think so. Its not like X box is releasing very soon with hotly anticipated titles and Sonyhas yet to make a move.

I also think Coronavirus could affect the launches if they intend to release later this year. If things are a lot of worse in November, the consoles wouldn't be picked up in stores, by tons of people which would lead to lukewarm early sales.

unless the PS5 is severely underpowered compared to the Series X, and unless Sony makes a major **** up in messaging and price, I don't think Sony has much to worry about in terms of interest once they do announce the PS5.

On the other hand if self-isolation becomes more important then any home entertainment is going to do well.

I don't know if majority of the customers would just order it online and wait for it to be shipped/delivered in their house. Plus shipping won't be free.

I'm old school, I prefer to buy a new console from a store or the mall.

I was watching a video criticizing the design of the new X-Box, and it being a tower/looking like a cpu are not good. I personally don't know where I would put it. As i can't put infront of the tv as it would block the screen. I never thought of that until I saw that video.

I'm mostly digital now but yeah for a console, I'll get it at a store. As for the new xbox and where to put it, it's not big or wide and so I guess it depends on your table.

normally, when it comes to consoles and tech, I am old school and prefer to buy in store.

However, I have been doing more of my shopping online recently, and I'll admit it is much more convenient. So, I'm not opposed to ordering a new console online anymore. As long as it's from a reputable site and not some 3rd party seller.

I need to get it somewhere that it’s easy to return or get fixed if there are issues. It would have to be a big name store.

I got my Xbox One at Best Buy as it's close to home and for the year long insurance. Likely will do the same for my next console

I don't want to be a pessimistic but I really think the coronavirus will delay the launches of these two consoles.

The virus is suppose to peak and be under control by June. So hopefully it will and the Q4 releases will remain as scheduled.

A delay won't affect me though as I don't plan on going next gen until some time next year anyway
