Punisher 2 update

If any of you are familar with Robert Rodriguez, his stylized violent movies are pretty low budget as well.

Desperado: $7,000,000
From Dusk Till Dawn: $19,000,000
Sin City: $40,000,000

If Rodriguez can do it I'm sure Hensliegh can pull it off as well.
Don't forget the ultimate:

El Mariachi: $220,000

And:
The Faculty: $15,000,000
Once Upon a Time In Mexico: $29,000,000

Lol! Apart from Desperado, those movies still had bigger budgets than The Punisher. The Punisher dosen't need big budgets but The Punisher 2 has to have a budget of at least 30 million, hopefully even 40 million in order to get the big action set pieces in needs.

Dusk had a smaller budget than Punisher and it's not like Harvey Kietel and George Clooney worked for free.

George Clooney's movie career was virtually non-existent at the time.

It actually just mentions him running down his "want list" for the Punisher sequel... I'm pretty sure at this point he's just stopping random people on the street and telling them he wants a Taxi Driver style sequel.

Well not really a update but there's a little talk about Hulk getting a sequel although many consider it a flop. And same with Punisher. From the main site.
SHH!: You're also sticking by "The Punisher' which also had trouble.
Arad: Didn't have, "Punisher," the DVD did $60 million domestic for a movie that cost very little.

"I'm interested in Hollywood," he says. "I'm trying to do Punisher II. I may get to play the villain's crazy brother. I'll probably start taking acting classes." --Chuck Liddell

This is just small news that's just fun to read!

Apparently it's true as well. I also hear this is not recent talks. He's been eyed for the sequel for some time. It's not like he needs to act so much. Just be a bad ass and beat the hell out of people.

Someone sent me that link in a myspace bulletin. I thought it was alread here. I guess now it is. LOL

Its cool about Chuck, but as the brother of the, presumably, main villain, I'm hoping either he plays the kind of nutcase that is completely feral, kind like Jet Li in unleashed, or give him serious acting lessons so he doesn't take you out of the scenes he is in.

Hey Advanced Dark, this isn't the great news you were refering to last week is it? If not, are you still anticipating good things for the sequel? If so do you have any idea when we may hear something? I hope things are finally coming together for this movie.
Speaking of movies taking forever to get of the ground, have you heard anything concrete about sub-mariner, I know this is the punisher forum, but I figured I would ask anyway.

Well if you look on the news page you'll see the first Namor development in a while dude. ;)

No that is not what I was talking about. If you read above the Liddell news while new to us...is old news to the production. They've been eyeing him since they started this whole development hell process. :) Put it this way...unless some major disaster happens it will film this year and probably start pretty damn quick. From what I understand something happened in the last week or two which should result in annoucement.

*A little tear runs down his cheek*

So, Tom Jane dropping out would be a major disaster right, eh? Now Lionsgate just hires Darren Bousman to direct TP2 and have Tobin Bell as Frank. Fast track. Blah.

(Btw, was the Jane dropping out news your "Happy Happy Joy Joy"?)

Exclusive: It was announced yesterday over at AICN that Thomas Jame will not be returning for Lionsgate's The Punisher 2... today we got more juice for you.

Today Freeze Dried Movies learned exclusively that John Dahl is in major talks to helm the sequel to the 2004 pic, which was one of Artisan's last features before being acquired by Lionsgate. In addition, the script in place now does in fact feature Jigsaw as the killer.

Dahl is best known for Rounders, Joy Ride and upcoming You Kill Me.

In the first film, after his wife and family are killed, G-Man Frank Castle takes it upon himself to distribute punishment to those responsible for the vendetta.
