Did ABC Just Cancel Pushing Daisies?!
Los Angeles (E! Online) – No, no, no. A thousand times no.

This is what I can tell you hundreds of panicked fans who have emailed in this evening after hearing a fast-spreading rumor that Pushing Daisies has been canceled.

I've just checked in with very reliable and well-placed sources connected to the show, who tell me that ABC has not yet informed producers whether the series will end after its initial 13-episode order for the current season.

In fact, show runner Bryan Fuller confirms to me tonight that he has not received any word yet on the show's fate.

Still, there is some truth to the rumor going around...

The current rumor being spread is that Daisies producers were told by ABC to treat episode 13 (which begins filming Monday) as a series finale, which some fans have interpreted as definitive news that the network decided to cancel the series.

Not true, say my sources. Producers have not yet been told whether they will receive a pickup for the remaining nine episodes of the current second season, and that is still a possibility.

However, it is true that producers were asked to change the plan for the 13th episode, which initially was a two-parter, with payoff in the 14th episode. ABC told producers to make number 13 a stand-alone episode and to "cover all bases," meaning that the episode should be able to serve as either a series finale or a launch pad into the final nine episodes of season two.

While the final scene of episode 13 would be a powerful final image of the series (it involves Charlotte Charles), I'm told there will be many storyline threads left unanswered, and trust me, you fans will not be happy if you don't get those back nine and the resolution to those stories.

Network sources at ABC tell me that the call on Daisies' fate might not come for a few weeks, as the decision-makers want to see how viewing patterns shift after the election on Tuesday.

The good news? Last night's episode was up a million viewers.

And really, what better way to celebrate the end of the election-news onslaught than with a genius, creative hour of fantasy-fun drama on Wednesday nights?

So what can you do to help? Watch, spread the news and it certainly wouldn't hurt to sign a petition or send a letter or a daisy to the fine people who hold Daisies' fate in their hands. Get the details on how to help here.
ABC asking that the two-parter be retooled isn't particularly comforting, but at least the hammer hasn't come down yet.

Last week's showing getting a sizable bump helps. That was a quality ep. Hopefully, that piques some more general interest.

People need to WATCH!!!

I have to wonder why it's having so much trouble this season. The DVD/Blu Ray apparently did strong sales...and the ratings for the previous season were pretty good for a show of this style.

It's not as if the quality dropped. So it lends me to believe that ABC is at fault for the show doing bad, they haven't advertised it. Alot of people that watched first season probably don't even know it's still on.

God I hope this show isn't canceled its one of the best things on television! Consistently one of the best things on! It has so much heart!

Has ABC cancelled this yet? I mean seriously, if they're going to do it, they need to just come right out and say it. Dont keep toying with us...

Nope, not offically anyway. But Bryan (I think thats his name) said that if they do cancel the show than he plans on bringing in back in comic form to give it a proper send off and then try to do a movie. And there is a rumor that ABC will only do 13 episodes this season and then bring it back in the summer for another 13.

God damn Country music awards.

I second that, ABC had a great opportunity by having Pushing Daisies air when the other channels showed the political debates which helped raise viewership but than after that they took the show off for two weeks, not a smart move.

I've not seen a single episode from Season 2 yet. I hate being on foreign land! But anyway... how's Season 2? As good as the first? It got an Emmy nomination so how the hey can ABC think of cancelling it? Stupid people need to get smart and start watching the show, dammit! :cmad: :csad:

Well PD pulled in around 4.5 million viewers, ANTM almost beat it. But its not the shows fault IMO since ABC did ZERO promotion for it and they left it off for 2 whole weeks...

That means that Bryan Fuller will be back on Heroes soon.

Sorry guys, but it has not been renewed (along with Dirty, Sexy, Money & Eli Stone)

Thanks for being the bringer of bad news. :(

I just don't understand how a show with such good quality as PD doesn't get enough audience to keep the ratings at a level for continuation? I guess people are too busy watching 'reality' shows that suck and with very low creativity level.

I personally only watched the show a couple times because I have a lot of friends that love it. Unfortunately it didn't really connect with me for some reason, there was just never anything that made me want to keep coming back to watch it.

I'm sorry for you guys though! :(

I guess the show only appeals to the quirky few. :(

I like the story itself, but the show really went overboard with the quirkiness. If they just dialed it down a bit, I think it could have appealed to a larger audience.

I'm sad to see it go, but I am in no way surprised.

I hope that Fuller wasnt BSing about coming back to Heroes. They could really use him now.

The facts are these, Me = :csad: and ABC is the cause.

YOu're talking about the second season, I assume? I thought the quirkiness of the first season was perfect. Maybe that's just because I am quite quirky so I do love quirkiness.

Example of how the show went overboard with the quirkiness? (I've been deprived of watching the second season. Watched the first season on DVD)

:( I'm very saddened by this. Hopefully DC Comics and the movie go well for Fuller.

...is this one I really need to explain? Pretty much every episode is jam-packed with enough quirkiness to power another 100 episodes. It's not necessarily bad quirky, its just a bit too much for me at times.

And another good show bites the dust! But I have to put a lot of blame on ABC right now since they did not try to save the show. They kept it off the air for almost a year, sucked at promoting the 2nd season, put it off two weeks with no promotion, did not even bother to try a time slot change. They should have atleast tried two weeks with it airing at 9 with Private Practice at 8 so they would have a good lead-in.
