Quantum Break

I'm on the first live action episode right now.

The game itself is quite beautiful visually with some minor texture pop in. The true tragedy of this game will be all the hard work put into Jack Joyce's facial motion capture that will be not seen by the player thanks due to the third person camera. Move the camera during dialogue to see it, it's pretty amazing. I think the facial motion capture is better on him than any other character, and you'll end up seeing his the least.

The gun play is wickedly fun. It's not Max Payne fun, but it's definitely even with Alan Wake. The powers are really neat and you can do some really interesting combos with them. While there is cover, and the cover system is a bit tricky, you will only use it to catch a breath.

The live action show is decent. It's got a very SyFy original series vibe to it, which is okay. The acting is quite good for both the game and the show. The story is pretty fascinating so that's certainly a plus.

If you are into hardcore gameplay, do not get this game. You certainly will be doing much more watching than playing. I, for one, do enjoy cinematic games, so I am having a good time with it so far.

Well I am a tad confused.

I knew there was a show tie in with this game, but is that during the game play only? I watched the first episode.

It sort of takes the steam out of playing the game.

I played it was like this game is freaking great.. got a TV episode, ok, cool, was nicely done.. but by the then I was a little tired and went to take a nap.

Sure, you can skip it but then you are missing story plot.

Game as I said looks amazing.
The only flaw i have had was... the screen would go white. I think it had to do with environmental lighting, from spot lights and such..
Was a real pain to be in a gun fight and have the entire screen go white when I look certain directions

wasn't the live TV component supposed to be an actual TV series, back when Xbox had its tv/media division?

it was but some thing fell short in execution and it didn't come together as it should have.

The game itself if pretty darn good.

I am enjoying it and can not put it down.. until the "TV" episode starts.

Just watched the second one. I enjoy them but at 30-40 minutes (I have not timed it) it takes out a big chunk of actual playing time.

And you more or less need to watch them so you know what is happening.

I think this alone brings down the game for me a lot.

so, are you forced to sit through and watch each TV episode?

is there any way to pause it or watch each episode later on, such as through the start menu?

I beat it a while ago. I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10. Right now, it's my least favorite Remedy game. Max Payne 1, 2, and Alan Wake are much better. With that said, QB is still a pretty great game overall, just some minor trips in it's execution that prevent it from being truly amazing.

I think at the end of the day, and it pains me to say it, but the live action component is unnecessary. We've seen games like MGS 4 work just fine with 30+ minute long cutscenes. They simply just needed to make the episodes in-game. I'm sure it would have cost them the same amount of money too, otherwise every game would have live action cinematics. It's not that I feel out of place when a live action episode begins, but it does take you out of the experience. The game looks beautiful, but when you go from game to live action HD show back to game, you know you are playing a game and the experience is not seamless whatsoever. The show has good acting and it shows a unique perspective from the bad guys, but all of this can still easily be accomplished through in-game cinematics. It was a good, worthy experiment though. Gotta push the limits sometimes.

The gunplay is really fun, but too bad it's only 30% of the overall 10 hours of the game. You're either watching the show, walking and finding items, or watching cinematics. I am not sure if the 10 hours included the show, but if it did, then we are talking about 8 hours of gameplay here.

Lots of unanswered questions that I am sure will be answered in the sequel, but in the time it takes Remedy to make a game, in addition to the fact that Alan Wake 2 should be next, we may not see Quantum Break 2 from quite a while. Perhaps DLC is planned, but I won't be getting it until the sale.

I had no idea what was up with the spooky monster thing that was attacking the soldiers. I guess it's a demonic entity of Paul, but that is really never mentioned again after the initial attack. I have no idea what happened to the people in the "bomb shelter" area. The game somewhat abruptly ends without any answers to a lot of questions. Ends on a cliffhanger no less either.

So that's my thoughts on the matter.

Beat the game, did not really take the much time considering the breaks for the live episodes and me not playing constantly. In fact this is the first game I finished in some time.

The game/story itself I really enjoyed I actually became invested in a few of the characters.

The live shows while I did not mind them thought it would have been better as a stand alone series.

I am going to redo the game now picking up things I missed and changing my choices to see what happens.

Is this a timed exclusive it is this never making its way to ps4?

Iv got so much to play right now Iv had to hold off on this, but I'm dying to play it. Hopefully it go on sale when I'm ready to jump in
