Quasar??????

HEH Earth's Skrull shapeshifter sneaking into the Skrull camp so to speak, or even if they can sense each other Hulkling could be a Skrull detector...Hiemdall can't be everywhere.:D

I consider her to basically be keeping the bands warm until Annihilus' spirit leaves them to join his reborn body and terrorize the cosmos anew. Then Wendell will be free from constantly fighting Annihilus on the astral plane or whatever, and he can manifest himself as a living construct, just like in Nova's dream/future vision..

That already happened in Phyla (Quasar) #4!

Quasar asks, "Hey Joe! How are you doing buddy!

I hear you are not a big fan of cosmic stories but I'll ask the head honcho, anyway!

I read in one of your Newsarma interviews that you were not a big fan of the original Quasar, Wendell Vaughn, and that you thought it best to "find someone new" and "start over. "

My question is: Why bother finding someone new if you are going to change things? Why not just use the new character and let it have its own identity-- Especially when the said character could just have been tweaked a bit to fit with the current powers. Why alienate a group of fans loyal to one of their favorite superheroes?

Another question: It seems there is a lack of writers/editors doing their homework on certain characters and story lines. Is Marvel, basically, throwing continuity out the window? Or does Marvel feel years of continuity just gets in the way of telling stories? I feel some comics from years past are meaningless i.e. Marvel, these days, seems to be putting out more stand alone type comics.

Maybe I am just getting old, eh?"

Thanks for your time.

Q: Matt, first let's put my answer in context. I was asked about characters that worked and didn't work and if they didn't how would I fix them. Quasar came up in the "doesn't work" category. That alone should tell you something. While there are those that remember the original fondly, it's not like they're legion nor are they enough to support an ongoing classic Quasar book. Believe me, I wish there were. What this simply tells me and everyone in publishing is that maybe we should try something different.

If we were looking to create a new character, we would just do that. We do it all the time. But, what we were looking to do was recreate Quasar, hence the use of the Quasar name.

As for continuity, ask Stan Lee and he'll tell you that he was getting questions like this in the 60's as has every Editor in Chief since him. We absolutely do our best to stick to continuity, but here's the thing, we're human and sometimes we goof. Also, we produce close to 90 plus titles a month created by a huge number of talented people. Keeping it all perfect is impossible. The best we can do is to keep it as consistent as we can within the context of a make believe universe that has more moving parts than anyone could possibly control.

The argument that there aren't enough fans to support a Quasar title might've held more weight for me if they'd actually... I don't know... attempted a Quasar title with a solid creative team before killing him off. Who knew Hercules or Nova had so many fans all ready and waiting to crawl out of the woodwork for genuinely good comics starring those characters?

If a comic is done well enough, almost any character can become popular. I bet someone could bring back Monica Rabeau, El Aguila, or Devil Slayer back and a good writer could make them compelling again.

Ellis made Monica a bit more popular with Nextwave. Whether she was compelling or written well is debatable.

Right!

Devil Slayer is coming back in Dead of the Night. Joey Q announced it in his most recent Myspace column.

Looks like it might be OK.

So I guess he'll be pulling mostly conventional weaponry out of his cloa--oops, I guess it's a coat now. Meh. I don't read Dead of Night, and those sketches don't really convince me to start.

It does look like it'll be mostly guns and stuff, though there is one picture of him with a sword. I haven't picked up Dead of Night before, but I'll probably give this one issue to try it out. I'm generally not a big fan of when they tie comic stories too closely to current events (since he's apparently fighting in Iraq in this comic) but I do like to see old characters get revived so I'll tentatively stay interested in this.

Let me know how it goes. I might be interested if I knew Devil Slayer from Adam, but I was never all that interested in the character before. He's just some dude with a magic cloak to me.

Quasar SI.
Joey Q NO.

Down with ignorance and oppression. We, the free people who read Marvelverse, want the return of a solid character with room for improvement! It's called better WRITING, Joey. Works sometimes!

About the same for me. I picked him because he was a very obscure character. I could have easily chosen Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu because he's a martial artist who's actually oriental instead of a white guy.

Wasn't Gulacy supposed to be doing some kind of Shang-Chi thing again? Or was that already done?

That's minutes of my job wasted. Big difference crotch rot.

Wow. You know, I've never understood the post count thing *****e bags try to pull when somebody calls them on their bulls**t. I got a lotta time at work I'm not doing anything. So I come to the Hype to make dick jokes and b***h about comics. Does that mean I don't have a life? Of course not. You, on the other hand, don't have as much time to make dick jokes and comment on what sucks in comics today on the hype because of the "SAVE Quasar" foundation you've set up in your moms basement/"apartment". How's that coming along anyway? Last I looked he was still dead and a whiny lezzy too bland to do anything but make a glowy sword rather than be the Green Lantern Ripoff her predecessor always was. :o

Hey, I've got 28,000+. My job sucks and I got nothing else better to do but own noobs who forget there place. And I'm fine with that. But let me tell you something, whacking off to doodles of cosmic mullets in your parent's basement does not a life make there Crotch Rot.
