Quasar??????

Actually Bendis did have plans for Quasar. He wanted to do a story about Quasar being thrown back in time to Marvel 70s.

"Do you want to hear a comic thing that keeps coming after me from like 3 podcasts ago..
about the comic idea I cant do now but before Life on Mars hit, I had a pitch about...I think
I pitched it as Quasar just for..I thought that was a character that would work..he gets shot back to 70s Marvel and he just can't get back....and Reed Richards is trying to help him...so he has to reinvent himself into 70s Marvel...but with the knowledge with everything that is gonna happen with all these characters...and I was gonna do that and then Life on Mars was literally like the next day it was announced..and i was like Oh i cant do it now and everybody just thinks I just ripped it off but I really didn't...Quasar... And to prove all my friends right that I never let anything go...THAT WILL END UP BEING SOMEWHERE.
Bendis sometimes has good ideas... but that's awful. I really hope he finds some other shmuck to toss back in time. Nova's future fever-dream needs to come true, at least partly, and Wendell needs to come back as a living construct.

Who knows. Maybe he likes the Shagedelic super-heroes and heroines in all their leather clad buxom glory.

Weird. He went from street level heroes to 70's heroes. I wonder what's next.

Well, he could claim to make the Marvel Universe "less dangerous and dark" by creating a one-year reboot which eventually continues as with horrendous retcons and a distinctively higher body count in recent years.

That being said, I kinda like Ms.Marvel's 70s outfit. Kinky.

Ah so that's what that hairstyle's called? I always called it "foxy" hair.

That too, but somehow I know who Colombo is. Strange choice of reruns they show in this part of the world...

Besides, I'd hate for them to bring him back via the Starbrand. That storyline dragged on way too long.

Quasar does still possess the Starbrand. But as the LT himself put it, "only a being of his power can discern it." It's basically a trace...once you get it, its never completely gone. Now what happens with that 'trace' is yet to be seen.

And Quasar is alive on some level of existence. He shunted Annihilus into some dark warp space while talking to (ugh) the new Quasar.

Not sure about LT's control...he can take the brand but not do anything with it...guess he put it in a cosmic jar or something.

What's this about the Starbrand? Isn't that New Universe stuff?

The 70s seem to be popular right now. Ask Spiderman. :cwink:

Uh... yeah, I know he still has it. I'm saying it sucked.

What's this about the Starbrand? Isn't that New Universe stuff?

Yeah, but it was around in the regular universe for a while.

Yeah, Quasar was searching the multiverse for the Living Laser and encountered a universe where Maelstrom beat him and was fighting against Thanos for control of the Universe. Well, Maelstrom noticed the "speck" and shot some form of energy at Quasar. Quasar tried to escape and as he was hit he quantum-jumped at the same time which forced him out of the multiverse into the greater omniverse - The New Universe- where he acquired the Star Brand to get home, as there was no Quantum Zone to power his bands.

Long story short when Wendell returned there was this big battle for the StarBrand and the Living Tribunal showed up and completely cut if off from this multiverse as the power would upset the balance too much. However, LT did not shun Quasar as Quasar had a minuscule amount left that only the greater cosmic beings could detect, plus he was the Protector of the Universe and did all sorts of good things.

However, the Star Brand has always been a source of infinite power and if Quasar has even 1% left, what is 1% of Infinity? :cwink:

However, in the letter pages Gru always said that the StarBrand (may) act differently because it is in an entirely different universe.

Ok. I am going on here. Anyway when it was revealed in the Phyla mini that the "savior" was in a cocoon it was thought by some (whistles) that it may be Wendell using the StarBrand to return as his old girlfriend, Kayla, was destroyed and came back via a cocoon(in his series) due to having acquired the StarBrand.

Well, this appeared to happen inside Phyla's mind or inside the bands. Its up for debate, maybe Phyla wa just being Phyla or a skrull. :cmad:

I don't think Wendell would have told her that. Maybe along the lines of "you'll make a great hero" or something but not what he said. Seemed like Marvel was trying to force it on us.

Yeah, Qster was basically an afterthought by the time that series rolled around...the art was crap, and he acted like a whiny, emo, suicidal idiot. Clearly, no one cared about the character at that point. The last few issues of the main series was rushed, as if they wanted to get it over with as quickly as possible.

Good recap,.. thanks. I need to pull the LT issues out and refresh my memory.

Or something.

Maybe Marvel lost the thread on What kind of Person Wendall was supposed to be an equated lack of a killer instinct with "wimp".

See my last.

Well, its not totally true no one cared. Gru obviously did. Star Masters came out shortly after the Quasar series finished. However, once again, Marvel Editorial screwed it up and cut the issues down from 6 to 4.
