When watching the series, I got a bit confused about the ages bc there seems to be some inconsistencies here.

Was it ever established in this series that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are twins? She looks fairly young, like in her early 20s, but he is drawn much older, as if he is in his 30s. Polaris is supposed to be around 16-17?

As far as the original X-men go, Beast, Angel and Scott all appear to be at least in their mid 20s. Jean looks like she's more like she's in her late teens (19ish) and Bobby is definetly a teen as he's in the same age range as Kitty. BUT we see a flashback to the original X-men days and they were all together as teens when the group was formed after Jean first joined

Ages have been something the show has had trouble establishing. I believe the production crew wants us to believe most of the characters, barring exceptions like Xavier, Magneto, Wolverine, etc. in present day are in their mid-late 20's. The problem is their designs combined with their actors usually make many of the founding X-Men appear in their 30's. Quicksilver in general looks like he could pass for 40. And for Iceman to have been a founder, he either ages slowly or was recruited when he was about 11-12. They're minor nit-picky quibbles but they do exist. I don't think they're a huge deal.

After all, the 1990's X-MEN cartoon once claimed in one of Nightcrawler's guest episodes that he was 25 years old, and he looked/sounded older. But maybe that is because 25 is usually Spider-Man's perennial age, and he often is immature. :p

Quicksilver looks old because he has white hair that doesn't mean he is old.

Funny how character designs and designated ages don't match up sometimes, isn't it?

Quicksilver looks old because he has white hair that doesn't mean he is old.

He looks old because he has cheek-lines. The same reason why Superman looked old in the first season of JUSTICE LEAGUE. The white hair is just a bonus.

Quicksilver looks like a 45 year old man in a Peter Pan suit a size too small, which has the semi-intentional effect of making him look creepy, personally.

According to a DARKWING DUCK episode, moving at super-speed can age you, but who knows.

Hmmm, good question. I would say (just guessing) that:

Beast is about 28
Storm: 27
Emma Frost: 26
Angel :25
Cyclops:25
Jean Grey: 23
Nightcrawlers a hard one, but I'd say about 20
Iceman: 18
Rogue: 17
Shadowcat: 17

I didn't include Prof. X and Magneto, also who knows how old Wolverine could be.

Hmm. I always figured Cycke, Jean & Emma were the same age with no year long gaps between them. But what do I know?

Mmm I've always imagined Beast to be older, at least in his mid 30's. I agree with the rest of the ages, except Rogue. I'd say she's a little bit older, probably about 22. The thing is that's always been a little hard for me to picture the X-Men as teenagers, I guess 'cause I grew up watching TAS, where they're supossed to be at least in their mid 20's. But yeah, Kitty and Iceman are definetly 17 or 18. And Logan, maybe 150, as usual.

so everyone puts Iceman at 17 which is a big error when it comes to the flashback episode which has him about the same age as the other original X-men

The show's writers goofed.

I recall hearing somewhere that Shadowcat and Iceman are supposed to be 18. Now, of course, Iceman was part of the "founding five" in the flashback in episode 20, which means he either ages slowly, or he was about 12 or so when he joined the X-Men. In the comics, Kitty Pryde was the youngest recruit of the X-Men in 1980 at age 13, although she turned 14 fairly quickly (the age Bobby was in 1963).

Again, the ages of the character have been problematic. I think the producers of WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN want us to believe that most of the adult X-Men beyond Logan and Xavier are in their mid to late 20's, even if they usually look and sound in their early 30's (such as Cyclops, Jean, Frost, or Beast). There is no way that Scott Summers, as designed as he is and as played (well) by Nolan North, sounds like he is 25. I mean, Spider-Man was usually not far from that age in most of his cartoons aside for SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN.

I don't think it impacts the general thrust of the series too much, it's just one of those quibbles that fans like debating. My concern is how the writing quality improves (or not) in Season 2, not whether I can buy that most of the X-Men are supposed to be 26 or younger.

I agree with all of these except Kitty and Rouge, because if Iceman is 18 witch is what they say in the second episode. Then that mean's Kitty is 16, and like already say Rouge would be in her 20's Because bobby joined the x-men when he was 16 and kitty joined when she was 14. Also in the episode Breakdown cyclops tells Emma about the original five x-men and how it was only around six months to a year later that wolverine showed up. He told her the day the masion below up logan was leaving the x-men for good because of Jean. so I figured the x-men had only existed for 2 years before they disbanned in wolverine and the
x-men cause you see bobby at about 16 when scott remembers the x-men's first fight with Magento.

Yeah, seriously. I've read that even in the 90s series Cyclops was supposed to be only in his 20s but his character design and voice actor Norm Spencer (who arguably had the best "law-giver voice" of any actor who's done Cyclops's voice) always gave off the impression of a guy in his early to mid-30s. Of course, other shows have assigned goofy ages to characters regardless of how they look or sound.

Bobby's announced age on the show during the pilot by Beast was 18. So there you go.

We don't know the ages of anyone else except that Warren, Jean, and Cyclops are most likely in their 20's. They clearly aren't teenagers. The only other possible teenager(s) are Kitty and perhaps Rogue.

and Polaris. She defiently seems and looks like she's in the same age range as Kitty and Iceman

Perhaps. I got the feeling she could've been a very sheltered young girl in her early-20's. If she was younger, that would make Gambit's pursuit of her kind of icky for this kind of program. She seemed to be like early 40's in the future timeline.

I have learned from reading gazillion X-Men comic books that to think about the ages of the characters is to give one a MASSIVE headache.

I think it took Jean and Scott 30 years to marry in our time but they sure weren't that old on their wedding day! :yay:

Hehe, yeah, you could say that about a lot of comic book characters actually. Look at Batman, he's gone through what, 3 or 4 Robins, one of whom is now in his early-mid 20s and calls himself Nightwing, and Batman himself still looks like a guy in his 30s. Hal Jordan was the Green Lantern when Wally West was Kid Flash, and Hal still looks 30-ish even after Wally grew up.

I actually have that issue with their wedding. If they had been aging in real time, from teenagers in the early 60s through the 70s & 80s, then by the early-mid 90s they would have probably at least been in their early 50s. Looking at them in the issue itself, you'd think they were either in their late 20s (no younger than 28 I'd say) or early 30s.

Yea however Coloccus Iceman Kitty Rogue are the youngest
Scott Jean Emma Kurt Storm Angel Psylocke Gambit etc are about 30
Beast is a little oldest

jeand and scott are 30 years old

yeah actually in comics they are same age and about 30

I assumed the core cast was between their late 20's-early 30's, though Jean is dressed like a college kid... with the exception of teens Shadow Cat & Bobby, and older cast Prof. X, Mags, Wolverine

Quicksilver looks incribly older as they added too many facial lines, I think they were trying to make him too handsome, the whole chisled features thing, but clearly didn't work... kinda like Gambit

What began as whispers among the media and gymnastics insiders weeks ago about the ages of three of China's female Olympic gymnasts -- Jiang Yuyuan, Yang Yilin and He Kexin -- has grown into ear-shattering, head-hurting shouts. Despite assurances by Chinese officials that all three are 16, the minimum age of eligibility for Olympic competition, newly discovered documents and records prove otherwise. The New York Times first looked into the age of China's gymnasts with a story on July 2
