Superman Returns Question about the crystals... Are they in NK drifting in space?

Remember that Kitty dropped the crystals before her and Lex took off in the helicopter. Well, this is when NK was forming. Isn't it safe to assume the crystals were in this giant mass that Superman lifted and sent into space?

Could it be that this ending is a clue for the sequel?

This has been discussed in multiple threads, but I believe this is going to be a setup for the sequel where Eradicator or Brainiac evoloves from the crystals somehow.

Yeah the crystals are still on NK, and i think they will have something to do with the sequels villain.

I mean the kryptonian crystal did need water do get bigger and bigger .
