How many years does this movie take place after X2: X-Men United? And is Jean in the lake all of that time? How does she survive?

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg agreed with my suggestion that it would be about six to eight months after X2. Enough time for a change of president, and for the X-Men to have had Danger Room training to increase their skills, and for Iceman and Kitty to become part of the team.

In the comics, Jean survived being under the bay in a telekinetic energy shield, a sort of cocoon. Expect something similar in the movie.

in an interview on...the Last call with that carson dude...Famke said "cocoon.." its been a while since i've see the interview but she did she say cocoon...

I just read the novel and I'm pretty sure it said 2 years.


Edit:Well, I scanned thru and can't see it, sop maybe it didn't. Anyone else read the book?
