I'm going to buy the Brainiac (Johns/Gary Frank) hardcover and I was wondering if I should read the Legion arc prior or am I safe just reading the Brainiac arc?

I'd really appreciate.

This could have been asked in many other threads rather than having it's own.

if i remember correctly, you should be fine reading the brainiac arc on its own. you shouldnt need the legion story....though, its a rad story. i would recommend reading everything johns and frank has done on superman.

What he said word for word.

Echoing Motown Marvel's statement. The Brainiac arc is far and away the high-point of Johns/Frank's run on Action, but the Legion story is pretty awesome in its own rights. I'd recommend them both, but if you only pick one, definitely pick Brainiac.

I liked the Legion arc more than the Brainiac arc, personally. The Brainiac arc sort of fell apart toward the end for me. It was great until like the last or second-to-last issue.

Legion arc > Brainiac arc.

So yes, read both.
