Comics R.I.P. Jim Mooney

Shhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

:csad:

His pencils/inks were awesome. My favorite combination was Romita Sr on pencils and Mooney inking.
He had that classic Spidey look down perfect and slightly different to Romita's version. Truly a great artist.

R.I.P. Jim Mooney.

I'm at work and can't get to my photobucket account. How about some of you guys post some pics. A lot of the youngsters might not be as familiar with his run.

I hope his family realizes what a part of my(and many others') life he was....

I'm not sure if anyone's seen this, but another great one has left us. Whether on Amazing or Spectacular, Mooney's art is something that reminds me of my early days of collecting, and have nothing but great memories because of it.

R.I.P. Jim Mooney.
I just heard the news of Jim's passing last night. I've had many dealings with him in the past, and am very saddened, knowing he is no longer with us. He was a good, thoughtful man who was generous with his fans. One example of this is a personal story I'd like to share with all of you. I once e-mailed Jim, thanking him for a recent transaction we'd made, and also inquiring to having him do a Doctor Doom commission piece for me along with the cost. Jim never responded back to me concerning this request. So I left it at that and moved on. One afternoon, about a week later, I noticed a huge flat priority package left at my front door step. I noticed immediately who that package was from, although strange since I wasn't expecting anything from him at that time. It wasn't long before putting two and two together. Upon "carefully" opening up the package I found an incredible 11x14 Doctor Doom original art piece done especially for me, free of charge. It's something I will always cherish and would never ever part with. That's just a small example of the kind of guy Jim Mooney was. I'll miss him at the comic cons and all the corespondence we've had over the years. Kirby, Kane, Buscema, and now yet another Marvel silver age legend has left us. It's a shame that so many out there will not even notice the passing of this God-given talent. However, he shall never be forgotten by friends and fans alike. R.I.P. Jim. You deserve it.

Nice eulogy, Marvel-Man. And yes, it's quite sad that the old guard is slowly passing away...:csad:

That's a great story, and it really says a lot about the man. R.I.P. Jim.

Aw man, his work on Spectacular was some of my favorite.

Please scan this and post it if you can.

I wish The Fly was still around. Pre-Venom, he was kind of Spider-Man's antithesis...

Jim drew the first Spidey comic I ever bought as a kid:

I'm fortunate enough to have a couple pages of his original art from this Lizard/Iguana storyline. They are treasured keepsakes.

how very true
goodbye mr mooney sleep peacefully

Wolvie, thanks for the posts, but I wanted to point out that it's the internal art to those issues that are Jim Mooney's, not the cover. Those covers are by Byrne/Layton, and JRJR respectively.
