It may be a bit early, but here is a countdown thread to the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. It is going to be released on Friday, May 2nd, 2014.

This thread is more than just a countdown to the release date, but putting together all the news and updates about the movie (whether its concept art, new director announcement, etc).

There are currently 633 days left (1 year 8 months and 24 days from today).

The current US release is scheduled for May 2, 2014.

1 year 8 months and 22 days (631 days) remain for those who are counting.

Its "competition" that summer includes:
Captain America: Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014)
Ninja Turtles (May 16, 2014)
X:Men Days of Future Past (July 18, 2014)
Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014)

And with that lineup I think it stands a decent shot of being the biggest flick of the summer.

I'm sure Captain America really isn't that much competition since he isn't that popular, plus it comes out a month prior to TASM2. Ninja Turtles? Meh. X-Men: First Class comes out two months later, so it should be fine, and GOTG is three months later so I won't even count that.

So exited for this and Guardians! Who wants to take bets on who the villain will be? My heart says Smythe, but my brain says Electro, Shocker, or Vulture.

My theory is we are building the Goblin... Literally. The Goblin serum from Lizard, the glider from Vulture and other tech from lesser villains. All in one super villain that will really test spidey.

Hmm... that is really interesting!

Imagine if you will... Adrian Toomes, Rogue oscorp employee cracks under the pressure of Norman Osborn threatening his family for his anti gravity technology. Goes on a rampage with his technological weaponry and gliding Vulture Suit. Spider-Man must take to the air and save Oscorp shareholders from this avian-terrorist who is just trying to save his family!

He has to save Oscorp/Norman Osborn, a man who will later on become a huge threat to Peter.

Exactly. In effect, he has to be true justice. Saving someone who will betray him, and he knows it in a roundabout way.

I think its cool that ASM is ranked the highest Spider-Movie on IMDb:

ASM: 7.6
SM2: 7.5
SM: 7.4
SM3: 6.3

The best thing to do is look forward to milestones, and other things to look forward to until TASM2 comes out.

I still haven't played the video game, so I'm getting that next month.

October has New York Comic Con. New James Bond film "Skyfall" is being released in November. I have the Hobbit movie to look forward to in December, as well as the Great Gatsby, Django Unchained, and Oz: The Great and Powerful in March. In May, we will get the new Star Trek movie and IRON MAN 3!!!

Yeah, next year should be good for superhero flicks, IM3, Man of Steel and Thor: DW. And I won't say anything til I've seen them all but its going to be hard to top 2012. I think 2012 (with Avengers, ASM and TDKR) has been the best year in CBMs since 2008 (with IM, TDK and TIH).

Also, too bad World War Z was delayed until June of next year. I'm pretty stoked for that.

2000 - X-Men
2002 - Spider-Man
2003 - Hulk, Daredevil, X2: X-Men United, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
2004 - Spider-Man 2, The Punisher, Blade: Trinity, Catwoman, Hellboy
2005 - Fantastic Four, Sin City, Batman Begins, Elektra
2006 - Superman Returns, V for Vendetta, X-Men: The Last Stand
2007 - Spider-Man 3, 300, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider
2008 - The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Punisher: War Zone, The Spirit
2009 - Watchmen, X-Men Origins: Wolverine
2010 - Iron Man 2, Jonah Hex, Kick-Ass, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
2011 - Green Lantern, X-Men: First Class, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor
2012 - The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Dredd 3D

It looks like 2009 was one of the more disappointing years for comic book movies, but from here on its gonna get pretty exciting.

I saw those, they are really cool. They get more in depth with the web shooters and their mechanics.

IDK if there are more promotional sites though.

I loved watchmen. 622 ?

I liked Watchmen too, but you have to admit 2009 compared to 2008 was just a flop. I'm a huge Star Trek (2009) fan though. So it wasn't a total loss.

But I agree with Picard, it seems like from here on in we can hope for three great CBM per year minimum. Lets just hope I dont have to eat my words.

We are finished with the CBM for 2012 at this point, but now we have 2013 coming up.

Iron Man 3 (which has been delayed unfortunately), Thor 2, Man of Steel, Kick-Ass 2...
