Rage Against the Machine is back!!!!!!!!!

I must be blind, but did you state a reason why we need more guys like him?

Commiserations on the blindness. Hope it clears up.

There are not enough politically aware artists in America. That's why Americans think PINK is edgy. And by the way, every RATM album sounds exactly the same. I have no problem with the content of the songs or Zack's politics. It's just nice to see someone has some...

Keep listening to your Mandy Moore albums if you want.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Between Green Day, U2, the Dixie Chicks and maybe Toby Keith, we have more than enough.

wow, I thought I was a pompous a-hole, but congrats Danny, you just deposed the king.

Yes. That would be perfect.
So on the musical side of things, what would you prefer?

If Zack had to scream is ninny-brat rhymes about the merits of socialism and anarchy (while making $25,000 a night opening for U2, selling out in every way (to the point of appearing on the soundtrack for GODZILLA :o), and depending on the very infrastructure he decries), what would be a better fit, do you think?

Like, a Mariachi band?
or maybe just a banjo-picker and a fat guy scraping a washboard?

Seriously, Mandy Moore doesn't even sing anymore. Will you watch A Walk to Remember with me?

Well, I guess Zack was...working for change from "the inside", 'cause the song they did for the Summer Blockbuster "Godzilla" does mention how people need to stop focusing on Summer Blockbusters and fight the big corporations who use them to pacify the masses......while.....uh....paying him, millions to, help...promote...the big, summer blockbuster.

lol

I think of him as these dorks who are "100% against the killing of innocent animals for profit and pleasure" who won't eat at McDonalds but couldn't live without their leather shoes, only on a massive scale.

I rest my point. Thank you. You have illustrated the sheer lack of political awareness with this brief and simple (in every sense of the word) post.

1. Green Day - a bad Clash tribute act. Yes they show a sophomore awareness of political matters, but let's be honest, it's all pencil-case sloganeering.

2. U2 - Irish. Dimwit.

3. Dixie Chicks - they only jumped on the bandwagon when everybody started slagging off Bush. Political awareness of the kind I'm discussing involves bands/artists showing a knowledge of issues BEFORE everyone and his dog follows the leader...

4. Toby Keith. Who? I'll take your word for it.

American artists who do show some political awareness:

Public Enemy - Been doing it for years, still doing it.

Steve Earle - Thank the Lord.

Jello Biafra - The Man.

U2. Honestly. :whatever:

Mr Sparkle - Thank you. You may bow and kiss my ring.

the Idea of Zack singing with a Mariachi Band is like the mos Grammy-winningest idea ever, Wil is the Phil Spector of our generation with less involuntary manslaughter charges.

and I'm guessing better hair.

but it's just a guess.

U2 is Irish, no way!:wow: :whatever: Of course I know theyre Irish, doesn;t stop them from commenting and getting involved in American political affairs, thats why I mentioned them.

Its funny, I named some people for you, but apparently only people you have designated are acceptable as politically active. Now Danny, lets be real here for a second, lets jump down from that high horse and get down with reality.

Good guess.

I honestly look nothing like Thing #1 or Thing #2.

Happy to jump down, when you lot are willing to talk reality. So far all I've heard are some uneducated, poorly informed opinions which give me no choice but to take the piss... The people you've named are a joke and strengthens my point, not yours.

Tried giving you some examples of politically aware American artists, but that didn't elicit any intelligent response, so I may have to continue being a pompous a-hole...

U2 - we were talking about AMERICAN artists... but, if you want to go there... U2 haven't uttered a political statement on record since Sunday Bloody Sunday. Everything else has been sloganeering for the benefit of the press and their career. Nobody in the UK/Ireland takes them seriously any more, politically. They've become a bit of a joke, as far as Bono's faux-politics are concerned.

As for reality, I thoroughly believe that most Americans wouldn't know reality if it beat them in North Vietnam. I'd suggest you go back to basics and start with some early Bob Dylan and work your way forwards from there...

I'm making it my mission to use "sloganeering" in a sentence today.

I like you Darthphere - you're a stand-up guy who knows when to take things seriously and more importantly, when not to...

Kudos to you and your difference of opinion. Vive la difference.

Yeah, it's just for a single performance at Coachella. I wouldn't get too excited, yet. I doubt Zack's become less of an a-hole in seven years and Audioslave's latest album actually validates them as a supergroup worthy of the attention they've received, unlike the first two albums.

They quit at the wrong time, political-wise... with Bush and the war, etc., I'm sure they could make a new album about it.

Completely agreed with that one.
