The Hero said:
Didn't Alex Ross release an Uncle Sam graphic novel very similar to Moore's pitch?

Yep. SImilar but not exactly the same.

DC has been mining this proposal for years. I'd say that at least half of DC's best stories in the past 15 years have some basis in this proposal.

The entire thing is brilliant, but I must say:Plastic Man becoming a gigolo and Woozy Winks being his pimp was a stroke of utter genius. The whole Dollman scenario was morbidly fascinating as well.

I think the most original concept in the entire pitch is that someone other than Batman outsmarts the DC Universe. And Constantine isn't a slave to prep time.

I bump this thread with a thought:

Am I the only one who would tear off one of his(or her;most likely his) fingernails for a "Hal Jordan Doesn't Care About Black People" shirt?

yes, you're the only one

but I would still find the shirt funny

And on the back,of course, would be the infamous "you've helped purple people, orange people, but what about black people?" page from Green Lantern/Green Arrow that I know I've seen here but can't seem to find.

I'd want to have the actual panel on the shirt

It would be on the back, providing context for the front.

I think panel on front, logo and text on the back would work best

Whichever side the panel or text was on,owning that shirt would still be nerdvana.

Get your father to loan me some money so I can buy the rights to Green Lantern from DC.

I was looking at the news on the main page of the Hype today and I saw that the Luna Bros mini "Ultra" will be made into a t.v. show. This is some pretty good news. That mini kicked ass! Though they could easily f**k this up. Hopfully the Luna's will have some say in what goes on in the series. Though I doubt it.

heh, I'd rather see "Girls" on HBO or Showtime

I'd rather see "Girls" on the porno shelf behind the curtin at the video store.

Is it just me,or is there no difference whatsoever between Frank Miller's Goddamn Batman and his Stick from Man Without Fear?

I just saw this on the review of the Ultimates cartoon coming out next week:

Extras:

The Ultimate Voice Talent Search – In preparation for this film, Marvel put out a call to fans to submit auditions to be the voices of the main characters in the film. They didn't end up using any of them and after seeing this I understand why. It ends up being like American Idol for comic book geeks. Many of them ham it up quite a bit while only one or two seem like legitimate contenders for roles. You'll laugh, you'll cry.

Me and my friend tried out for that (apparently she was beat out by Olivia D'Abo for Black Widow......hack  :O ) I'm split between not minding being made fun of, and hoping to God our auditions got lost in the mail.

By the way, I got beat out by some yutz named Nolan North for Giant Man:

(If Nolan hangs around here, just kidding. I'm old, bitter, and much less attractive than you.)

I'm a little upset over them toning down Ultimate Hulk. "Hulk want Freddie Prinze Jr.!" would have been the greatest line in movie history.:o

When and where do you guys read your comics when you get home?

I think unlike most people here, I don't read my comics as soon as I get home, I stretch it out over the weekend, usually reading one or two at a time. Actually, alot of my reading seems to get done at work, since I usually read one issue on every cigarette break, and two nights a week I have to watch the door in the back of the building that needs to stay open and I 'll usually read a bunch then

I usually read a lot of em at work too. If I'm lucky enough to get them on a Friday then I read like two or three and sometimes all of em on a couple of hours. Oh and I like to listen to music while I read. A lot of people don't but It helps me focus.

I've got such bad ADD, NOTHING helps me focus. Hell, even silence is distracting

I'd have to attribute my ability to foucs on what I'm doing to my upbringing. Between my nag of a mother, and having to share a room with my easy to anger brother and deadbeat of a cousin, i've gained almost jedi like abilites of meditation and focus. As a matter of fact, I can't think without some kind of noise going on in the background.

Yea I listen to music too when I read.Usually Black Crowes or the Stones.

I just put the Zen on shuffle and listen to whatevers comes on. STP, Mos Def, Deathcab for Cutie, Kanye West, whatever.

I can't listen to music when I read, but I do usually sit still and read through all my comics at once. I kind of have to because if I don't read them all right away, I usually don't get around to reading them at all. I've got a backlog of about 10 Punisher issues and 4 or 5 Spider-Girl issues that I still haven't read.

Here's a related question: What order do you read your comics in?

I tend to have a first and a second wind, so to speak. I put all the comics I'm dying to read first, then the middle is a chunk of comics that I read regularly but I'm not overly excited about or other comics I'm just trying out, then I finish off with more good stuff like Vertigo series, Hellboy, Solo, and any indie or quasi-indie stuff. The reason I do that is to keep my ass plastered to my chair reading. If I left the middle chunk until last I'd never read them, and if I moved them to the front I'd procrastinate on starting to read my comics to begin with.

Being a student and all,I usually fit in reading at night or in the evening when I'm not doing homework or not going out.I just hate it when I'm about to read an arc and I start getting really tired.
