Rank the Marvel films

Doing it a little different:
1. a tie between the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel's The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier)--
I think IM2 is the weak link of the series, although not as bad as some say IMO and the X-Men Film Franchise (X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past)--
Myself, I consider Origins the only weak link of the X-Films.
I couldn't pick one over the other…look what both franchises have done.

2. the Spider-Man Trilogy (Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3)--
Parts I and II are brilliant, and III is decent…even with a few cringeworthy scenes, might even put that one above The Last Stand--if I was doing the films individually…
3. the Blade Trilogy (Blade, Blade II, Blade: Trinity)--
Did anybody know Blade before the films? I know I didn't…this series got me into researching and collecting the comics.
4. Daredevil: Director's Cut, Elektra--
DC is one of Marvel's best…it's also the only reason Elektra shares the number four spot…honestly, if I was doing these separate instead of series…I'd probably have Elektra dead last…I do think Man-Thing is better…
5. Fantastic Four Films (Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer)--
I did think they did the family aspect of the FF justice. I don't think the films were that bad. Doom was horribly miscast…
6. The Amazing Spider-Man , haven't seen 2 yet…
Some people lump these together…the Punisher films…the Ghost Rider films…the Ang Hulk with the MCU…some do them separate, I do them separate:
7.
Punisher

8.
Hulk

9.
Ghost Rider

10.
Punisher: WarZone

11.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

12.
Man-Thing

My order:
1. X-Men film series
2. Spider-Man's Raimi film series
3. Marvel Cinematic Universe
4. The Amazing Spider-Man film series
5. Fox's 1st Fantastic Four series
6. Fox's Daredevil/Elektra
7. Blade's New Line Cinema series
8. Ghost Rider's Sony series
9. Lionsgate's Punisher
10. Hulk 2003

I don't get people who don't prefer the MCU to the other properties.

1. The MCU isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread.
2. These other franchise have mostly great movies (X-Men for example is the highest rated Marvel franchise)
3. If you're not much of an Avenger characters fan the MCU has little to offer or you simply may be more of a fan of those other properties source material.

I don't get those who only list the MCU ones or don't watch the others. They're ignoring the majority of Marvel movies, many of which are equal or superior.

Spider-Man 2 (8.5/10)
X-Men (8/10)
Spider-Man (8/10)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (8/10)

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (8/10)
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (7.5/10)
Iron Man (7.5/10)
The Amazing Spider-Man (7.5/10)
Thor (7/10)
Captain America: The First Avenger (7/10)

X-Men: First Class (7/10)
X2 (7/10)
Spider-Man 3 (6.5/10)
Iron Man 2 (6/10)
X-Men: The Last Stand (6/10)
Iron Man 3 (6/10)
The Wolverine (6/10)
The Avengers (6/10)
Thor: The Dark World (5.5/10)
The Incredible Hulk (5/10)

Hulk (5/10)
Daredevil (4/10)
Fantastic Four (4/10)
Fantastic Four: Rise of Silver Surfer (4/10)
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (4/10)

Nice list.

Franchise Ranking

2. Spider-Man franchise
3. Blade Trilogy
4. Captain America franchise
5. Iron Man franchise
6. Thor franchise
7. Hulk franchise
8. Fantastic Four franchise
9. Avengers franchise
10. Punisher franchise
10. Daredevil/Elektra

MCU is a continuity and a collection of franchises, NOT one franchise.

I think it is definitely the best movie based off a Marvel Comics character. The second best is DOFP. Then The Winter Soldier.

Flash news, not everybody likes the same thing.

^ Preference is fine but I don't get those who only list the MCU ones or don't watch the others.

Agreed and its not like the others came after MCU. I watch all Marvel films even if they are made by an independent studio.

I tend to do the same but sometimes skip ones whose characters I'm not interested in like Elektra and probably Ant-Man.

Studio matters not, all have made their share of good and bad Marvel movies imo

Well as an X-Men fan, the X-franchise has given me very little, except the same thing over and over again. Of all people, given your handle, I'm surprised. The X-films are very very poor depiction of the characters that I've read. The Wolverine has been the only film that truly got Logan(despites it's numerous flaws).

I didn't enjoy DFOP and it's bewildering to me that it's so well liked. It was the realization of the saying "cutting of the nose to spite the face"... the movie thats probably the best in the franchise...doesn't exist in the films lore any longer.

They've now pivoted and are making civil-rights movies in different time periods...next up the 80's! Oh look at Storm and her mohawk! Scott sure is wearing some rad shades!

I honestly believe that Singer should leave the franchise altogether, he seems to have run out of things to say.

They exist as an alternate skewed-off timeline. Wolverine is proof as he remembers them, if they ceased to exist he wouldn't have remembered them

As a result, it is more screwed up than ever. When did Logan join the X-Men? Guess we'll see a story about that in the next film...maybe Rust Cohle got it right. Time really is a flat circle.

Like I said, I don't get how one can prefer Fox's take on X-Men, but despite the witty retort's I understand that there are people out there that do. I don't see the X-Men that I read appearing on the big screen. I see about 4 characters, some exposition(especially heavy in DFOP) and a bunch of background characters.

That being said, I'm not clamoring for Marvel to grab the X-Men back(unlike with the F4).It's a huge project to tackle. Maybe if Scott is finally put into the lead role, the X-films will win me over. Maybe if they get past the mutant persecution stories. I'm not saying they can't make a good film. I'm saying they need a new voice. I preferred, as far as character adaptation, The Wolverine. I wouldn't put DFOP in my top 5 Marvel films. I actually like X1/1.5 the best.

I don't think this is true. Most lists place the MCU as the second highest grossing franchise of all time, which it wouldn't do if it were split up into each separate franchise.
Also note how the official wikipedia page refers to the MCU as a franchise multiple times:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cinematic_Universe
Not sure what your criteria is for a franchise but for all intents and purposes, the MCU basically is and is regarded as such by most people.

I don't get people who don't prefer the MCU to the other properties.

Avengers and Captain America: Winter Soldier are probably the only MCU films that I can watch over and over again. Iron Man 1 was also good but not a favorite of mine. Everything else MCU so far I wouldn't bother watching all the way or at all again. As far as X-Men go, I pretty much own X2, The Wolverine, First-Class and soon Days of Future Past and I could watch them tons of times.

The MCU's had missteps, but to say X-Men is the "highest rated franchise" I guess depends on your definition... are you saying reviews wise?? Because the IM movies have a higher average score than the x-films... or are we talking box office?? cuz then marvel wins again.

I myself grew up an x-fan, but my love for the MCU movies is because they've managed to be X2 level quality, while managing to stay much closer to the source material. It was the Marvel films that got me reading Thor and Avengers after 15 years of reading solely X-Men and Wolverine comics

When I watch the X-movies, I feel like, "hey, this is cool, its as good as I could hope for"

but then the MCU came along (as well as TDK) and I was like "oh holy crap, so this is what actually seeing superheroes brought to life looks like!"

I agree with others that I have yet to really see an X-Men film. It felt like we were getting close at the end of X2 and all the possibilities it's ending held. But then Fox just kept makin the things, no matter how bad they were

Saying that the X-men is the "highest rated Marvel franchise" is a pretty dubious statement. The MCU's average score is a 79% on rotten tomatoes, as opposed to the X-men's 73%. So right there, it's not Marvel's highest rated franchise.
The MCU is also the 2nd highest grossing film franchise of all time (soon to be first), while the X-men is the 12th highest.
People like the MCU so much because they consistently range from good to great films.

My personal rankings:

The Avengers
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Iron Man 3
The Wolverine

Iron Man 2
X-Men 2
The Incredible Hulk
X-Men: The Last Stand
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Wasn't a huge fan of the original X-Men trilogy, but I still quite enjoy them, so that should put the list into perspective (i.e. none of them suck)

Didn't include the really sucky ones and left out Raimi's Spidey series since I couldn't decide where to place them, and the Blade movies since I haven't seen them in a long time.
