i can't stand this layout... i don't think i'll be on as much anymore.. and i'm not over-reacting. the news feed is full of likes and comments on posts. but i can't find the threads i once followed on my user home screen... and that's a major major major deal breaker to me. about the only aspect i do like, is the ability to "like" a post or comment. the rest so far is garbage and contrived.

Yeh !!! Someone who feels and thinks the same as me. I'm getting told 'I should just get used too it and work at liking at it'. Errr….no, it's a horrid re-fit, thanks all the same.

yeah... someone said this is more "stream-lined" stream lined to what? a needle in a hay stack? this doesn't operate like any other forum or social media i use... it's contrived for no reason. As a former interactive media and Web Design major who learned quite a bit about "information design" this fails majorly at being simplistic enough for everyone to easily adapt to and follow... this is a mess and the hype should be ashamed.

I'm glad someone who has knowledge and experience of such delivery has this point of view, as someone who is completely uneasy in a techno world had the same thoughts. Thank you, you've helped me in knowing I'm not alone in seeing / believing what I was experiencing.

If it helps and you're looking for your subscribed threads (here they're called watched threads), here's a direct link:
https://forums.superherohype.com/watched/threads (this is to just the watched threads that have unread posts in them)
https://forums.superherohype.com/watched/threads/all (all watched threads - personally, I have this as my default bookmark for the board as is)

If you're viewing in the red & blue default skin, you should be able to access those by hovering (or on mobile, tapping once) on the +Forums in the header bar and they'll be among the options that show up (see the screenshot Kane posted here: https://forums.superherohype.com/posts/36965725/). On the light blue/Xenforo skin the Watched Threads link will be an option in the header navigation on the main forum page, otherwise you can go to Profile Details and access it from the left column (this will take you to the page with just the unread watched threads, but within that page is a link to view all).

The Newsfeed is comprised of the actions of people you "follow" (on the old board, these were carried over from anyone you had as a 'friend') - so if you follow a lot of people and/or the people you follow are highly active, then it's going to be kind of a messy feed.

Can some kind Mod set me up with the skin that's closest to the old version of the Hype?

And is there non a User Control Panel anymore? I loved the one-click method to get to my subscribed threads....I really, really miss that. Hovering on the Forums tab to get to the Watched Threads seems like one step too many to get to the threads I care about, especially since we had the one-click option to User CP before.

Nope. A.) We can’t set up skins. B.) the people who CAN say it’s too much trouble having multiple skins because they’d each have to be updated on an individual basis and that’s too many extra hours of manpower to pay for. They said there are browser plug-ins you can install to change appearances. C.) The vBulletin layout was an entirely different software that lacked a lot of the new functions of Xenforo, so that layout wouldn’t be conducive to the Hype’s current level of functionality.

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized you were asking for the Xenforo skin, which yes, is an option, but only an admin like C.Lee can do it for you. However, I’m gonna leave the above explanation there because I feel like people need to understand why there won’t be multiple skin options anytime soon.

Subscribed threads are now “Watched Threads” which is available from the pull-down menu at the top. Still one click away. Or you can just do what I did and make that page your main bookmark for the forum, lol.

how do you even change the skin on this thing? i don't know why there just can't be a page with your own command central... with easy to navigate options , your updates, your mail it was all in one place and VERY handy and user friendly.

Tap your icon at the top, it's mostly there. And go under preferences.

Yes, Xenforo skin, based on what I've read. :) Thanks.

On the Watched Threads thing, I'm still not a fan of having to hover, and scroll down. It might still be one actual click, but the hover + scroll is still an extra step that wasn't there was before.

If you want to try out the light blue/Xenforo skin, you have to ask one of the admins (like C.Lee) to change it for you (however, it should be noted, that (from what it sounds like from other users), if you make any changes in your preferences after already being set to the light blue skin, it'll revert back to the red & blue and a mod will have to change it for you again.

Regardless of skin, however, you should still have most everything in one place, it's actually in the top right corner. Clicking on your name in the top right should bring up a menu of being able to access your preferences, edit your signature, contact details, access your alerts, search for posts you've made ("Your Content"), your profile page, etc.... In that top right corner next to your name is access to your inbox for private messages (termed 'conversations' on this new board), and then next to the inbox is the alert notification area to let you know (if you have alerts turned on) when someone's replied/quoted you, mentioned you (we can do that now with the @), or liked a post of yours.

An “extra step” that takes less than 2 seconds, though. That seems like quite a minor quibble to me.

I don't think it's that minor, but even if it is, it's a quibble that's easily fixed. I know that I will never use the little navigation at the top and bottom that shows the forum cascade. (Here is shows the home symbol > SHH Community > SHH Community Forum.) I would much rather have that be a User CP link, where it shows all my watched threads.

I wonder if we will get new Xenforo versions of the old skins...

Nah, I don't use mobile very often. On my work laptop with a trackpad mouse most of the time.
Then it should still be one-click away. Changing WHERE that click is does seem like a very, very minor thing that one should easily get used to in a day or so (I know i already have). Regardless, I have passed along your quibble to @Buffaloed.

Nope. They have been very adamant about No New Skins.
A shame, but understandable. And I'd be fine with the default red & blue assuming the bugs can get worked out (namely the issues with the floating sidebar). I do wish we could try and make an argument for at least 1 additional skin though (or 2 if we want to have a 'fixed' and 'liquid' version of it like the red & blue has), namely a "night version" or something that's easier on the eyes when viewing on a device in low lit/dark rooms

id like a mod to change my skin please.. thanks. i'll see if that helps at all

That's ridiculous. It's the most complained about item everyone has. If they don't want a ton of new ones how about just one that encompasses what people like about the Xenforo default?

All the user information on the left side to create less of a gap between posts, and a less harsh color scheme.

Thanks. Appreciate the info, Silvermoon

I appreciate it, thank you.

Last thing about it, is that yes, it's still technically one click. But you added a mouse "touchpoint." Hover + scroll down, then click. And the Watched Threads is in the middle of the drop down...even putting the Watched Threads at the top of the dropdown, I would consider a significant improvement.

I'm sure I'm not the only person on here that really only cares about the threads I'm already subscribed to. That's why I subscribe to them, and not others.

I still need to know how to disable images and avatars.
