Okay, so here's what I got so far...

Johnny Blaze - Captain
Wiegeabo - First Officer or Chief Engineer
Byrd Man - Helmsman
The Question - Senior Chief Petty Officer (2nd in charge in security)
Blacklight - Chief Engineer, First Officer, or Navigator
Franklin Richards - Councilor or Lieutenant Commander Harry Kim

That about right?

I've been thinking about this for a while, and if it's okay with you guys, I'm up for it.

Count me in for something.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and if it's okay with you guys, I'm up for it.

Okay, so you two bring us to a total of 8 interested parties. That's good enough to act as a starting crew for the Enterprise.

Anybody up for the other AGM spot?
Pretty much all it entails is approving people and keeping order, and helping run the NPCs from time to time, depending on the arc.

I guess I'll volunteer for AGM. If I'm going to shoot myself in the head with another characters, might as well make sure the job gets done right.

While Helmsman is number one, I'm slowly leaning more towards medical officer

I think Q had a good idea what with posting the character apps here. This way we can get a feel for the other characters and crewmen of this new Enterprise.
So, if you've got your app done already, go ahead and post it.

Character Name: Captain Johnathan Rourke

Race (Human, Ferengi, Klingon, Romulan, Bajoran, etc): Human

Rank and Position (First Officer, Doctor, Security Chief, Bartender, etc): Captain

Brief Back Story on Your Character: Born in Dublin on Earth, Johnathan Rourke is a third generation Starfleet officer, following in both his father's, and grandfather's, footsteps. Pressured by his father, Admiral Brennan Rourke, John enlisted into Starfleet as soon as he came of age. His first year in the Academy was anything but fun though, as he tried too hard to live up to his family's expectations and found himself ranking at the bottom of his class. Distraught and doubting whether he even made the right decision, John was on the verge of dropping out.

But the deteriorating health of his grandfather, a retired Admiral and former member of Starfleet Command, forced him to take a leave of absence before his second year began. On his death bed, John's grandfather talked with him about the pressures of the academy, trying to help him ease the tensions he felt. Telling him not to worry about the bar others were setting for him and to just concentrate on his own expectations and doing right by his fellow officers. His grandfather died days after, but his final words to John worked. Cadet Rourke returned to the Academy and immediately began to advance to the top of his class, proving to possess the raw talents of a natural leader.

John eventually graduated with honors and was assigned duty on board the Orion as an ensign. The ship was sent into Romulan space as part of Captain Riker's star ship group tasked to be the first Federation envoy to Romulus. Riker's ship, the Titan, along with the Orion and the Alabama, were sent to help improve on the fledgling Romulan/Federation peace after the Battle of the Bassen Rift.

There, part of the Federation's first envoy into Romulan space, Johnathan learned as much as he could about Romulan culture. He immersed himself in their history and ways, taking the old axiom of knowledge is power to heart. He learned first hand of Romulan bravery and tenacity as they battled alongside each other against the Reman rebels that sprang up after Shinzon's death. John distinguished himself for his heroism and ingenuity in years that followed, and made a name for himself when he helped orchestrate his captain's rescue from Reman insurgents after both the first and second officer were killed in the initial firefight.

Johnathan was promoted to lieutenant, and served with distinction on board the Orion until the year 2385, when he was promoted to the rank of commander and transferred to the Titan. Serving under the command of William T. Riker, John learned much in the ways of captaining a starship, eventually becoming Captain Riker's first officer in the year 2388. Always handy in a fight, Johnathan was loved by his shipmates as he proved time and again that he would always have their back, even in the most deadly of situations.

Now, on the verge of the new Federation fleet's launch, a cryptic message has sent to the Titan from Star Fleet Command, ordering John to return to McKinley Station orbiting Earth in seven days. Captain Riker told John that he will not permit him to travel via the common Federation transport. Riker insisted that he take Johnathan there personally, and seems to know more about the orders than what he's letting on.

Leaving the Orion and Alabama behind, the Titan has taken off for Earth at maximum warp, and should be arriving very soon...

Character Personality (list a brief description of their traits, morals, etc): Despite coming from a well known Federation lineage, John has a humble air about him, and is never one to turn down advice from any officer in his crew. Cunning and courageous, John is not afraid to put himself in harm's way to help his fellows. Taught to be a leader at an early age by his father, Johnathan is cool under pressure and is able to make the quick, hard choices a captain needs to be able to make. Serving under and learning from Captain William T. Riker certainly helped hone his command skills even further, and taught him the value of improvisation and unconventional thinking to solve a problem.

When not in the thick of it, John enjoys spending his time with his crewmen, whether it be on ten forward or the holodeck. When spending his free time alone, John enjoys playing his acoustic guitar, as it helps him to clear his head, and is prone to watching old holo-programs of the old 20th century sport of American Football.

Description of Your Character's Appearance (or simply post a picture if you're able): For his looks, I was thinking like a young Dennis Quaid.

"So, Commander", Riker asked, "are you ready?"

Rourke stood on the transporter pad, awaiting to beam onto the McKinley Station. The captain had his hands clasped behind his back as the transport officer readied to send Johnathan on his way.

"Yes, sir", Johnathan nodded.
"But I'd still like to know what this is about, sir. Am I in some kind of trouble? Is this an inquery of some kind?"

"Ready to go when you are, sir", the transporter operator interrupted.

"Mr. Rourke, you've been under my command since the beginning of this Romulan experiment. You've shown your dedication and drive in how quickly you've rose through the ranks during your tenure here. Truly, you have been one of my best officers."

"I hate to lose you"
, he finished with a smirk.

"Lose me, sir? I afraid I don't understand."

"Don't worry, John", Riker smiled.
"You will soon enough. Goodbye, Mr. Rourke. And congratulations."

"Oh...tell him I said "hello", will you?"

"Tell who you said hello-"

John's words were cut off as Captain Riker activated the transporter, and he found himself inside McKinley Station.

"Hello, sir", a lovely Bajoran lieutenant greeted him upon his arrival.
"I am to escort you to conference room six."

"Of course", John smiled.
"Lead the way", he said as he gestured with a wave of his hand.

The woman led Rourke down the halls of McKinley Station, eventually coming up to the door to the conference room.

"The admiral is inside waiting for you, sir", she said with a look to the door.

"Admiral? What's going on, Lieutenant?"

"I'm not at liberty to say, sir."

John gave the woman a look, trying to get some kind of read, but eventually let out a long sigh and gave it up.

Character Name: Carter McCoy

Race (Human, Ferengi, Klingon, Romulan, Bajoran, etc): Human

Rank and Position (First Officer, Doctor, Security Chief, Bartender, etc): Medical Officer

Brief Back Story on Your Character: Born to Joanna McCoy-Peters and Joseph Peters, Carter Leonard Peters grew up on Earth with both parents until his mother and father divorced when Carter was 10. His mother had both of their names changed back to her maiden name of McCoy. He spent the summers with his grandfather, Leonard "Bones" McCoy. Hearing his grandfathers fantastic tales of adventures in space made Carter realize his career path early on. When Carter was 12, Bones passed away at the ripe age of 145. Carter went on to attend medical school and graduate Summa *** Laude from UCLA Med, specializing in Xeno-Astrobiology. Three days after his graduation, Carter enlisted in Starfleet and graduated with the rank of Medical Officer.

Up until his reassignment, Carter was serving on the starship USS Californa as one of the ship's resident doctors.

Character Personality (list a brief description of their traits, morals, etc): Carter shares many of his grand father's traits, his compassion for life and his desire to help people. Although he does not wear his heart on his sleeve, Carter does indeed have the McCoy temper deep inside of him and can occasionally let it out. Since he grew up in a different time, his attitude towards aliens are a bit more mellow. While the original McCoy did not like space travel, Carter enjoys the travels and adventures of space.

Description of Your Character's Appearance (or simply post a picture if you're able): DeForest Kelly is McCoy, so it should be fitting that his grandson look like Karl Urban

Color and Font of Your Character's Speech: Navy, Franklin Gothic Medium, and Bold

What Can You Bring To This Game: I'm a doctor, not a bringer! :cmad:

"Okay, Ensign. What's your problem?" I casually ask the crewman sitting on my medical examination table.

"Well, Doctor...I have this strange burning sensation...." I nod as I keep writing down information on his chart.

"Okay. Where exactly do you feel this burning at?"

"Well, sir...it's uh....below the waist."

I stop with my notes and look the young man in the eyes.

"How long have you been having this feeling?"

"For about a week now."

"Yes, and we were at port two weeks ago. Did you happen to visit any women when we were at port?"

His face turns red, telling me all that I need to know.

"Well, then. I have some medicine here that can clean it right up."

"But, doctor. She wasn't a human, she was an Orion!"

I do a double take and look at the young man sternly.

"Oh, well then. I'll have to prep you for surgery. The body fluids of Orion's contain acid highly damaging to all humans, your....member, could be rotten and have gangrene. I'm afraid it will have to come off."

"NO!" The ensign cries out, holding on to his crotch for dear life.

I chuckle and hand the young man a piece of paper.

"Joking.......go see the nurse down the hall, she'll give you a shot and fix you right up."

"Thank you, doctor," he says with a nervous laugh.

"No, problem. And son, remember this: flies spread disease....so keep your's closed."

He gratefully nods and waddles off towards the nurse's station.

I smile to myself as I watch him go.

"Doctor," the communications officer appears on the screen inside the examination room.

"I have a transmission from Earth, requesting to speak to you."

"Is it my mother?"

"No. It's from Starfleet. Code Alpha-1."

I feel my stomach go cold. That code is designated for only one man.

"Doctor McCoy," I go a bit pale at the image of Admiral Picard appearing on the screen. Mother of God, what have I done?

"Admiral.....what-what can I help you with?"

"Relax, Doctor. I would like you to report to Starfleet on Earth for reassignment."

"For what?"

"All in good time," he says with a glint in his eye and disappears from the screen.

What in the hell have I done?

I think I've narrowed down who I want to play. But I might be posting two apps just to get a feeling of each character and get some feedback.

Awesome app, Byrd.

Right on. Looking forward to seeing what you got cooked up.

Also, damn you Byrd for killing off McCoy. I bet he was still spry at 162.

Character Name: Elias Vaughn

Race (Human, Ferengi, Klingon, Romulan, Bajoran, etc): Human

Rank and Position (First Officer, Doctor, Security Chief, Bartender, etc): Commander

Brief Back Story on Your Character: Don't let Vaughn's age fool you. He may be 114, but he might as well still be 50 in mind and body. Elias holds the dubious honor of being the oldest Commander in Starfleet history. But it's only because his rank has been purposely held back over the years in order to maintain a low profile during his long tenure in Starfleet Intelligence.

Born in 2274 on Berengaria VII, exploration was in Elias' blood from a young age. This led to his decision to join Starfleet when he came of age. But he soon discovered he had a talent for Intelligence work and tactical operations. So he gave up his dream of being an explorer for a career on Starfleet Intelligence.

While his career with SI started slowly as a lowly analyst, Vaughn quickly proved to be an excellent operative and made a name for himself. Vaughn's Intelligence career lasted decades and was filled with both triumphs and tragedies. For several years at a time, Vaughn would retire from Intelligence work, and spend his days quietly teaching at the Academy. His influence there is still felt today, the Advanced Tactical Training Program still modeled on the curriculum he developed. But, inevitably, SI and his devotion to duty and the Federation would always bring him back into the world of espionage.

Vaugn was very active during the Dominion War, even becoming an essential part of the Betazoid resistance when the Enterprise-E helped overthrow the Jem'Hadar occupation force on the planet. With the end of the war, Vaughn was assigned to be Colonel Kira Nerys' first officer on Deep Space 9. He also commanded the Defiant during the first post-war expedition of the Gamma Quadrant, following his love of exploration for the first time in his life. During this time, Elias repaired his relationship with his estranged daughter who was also stationed on DS9.

For the last several years, Vaughn has continued to serve as Colonel Nerys' first officer, and has recently been preparing to lead the next expedition into the Gamma Quadrant. But as anyone who has spent time in Intelligence might tell you, it never pays off to plan too far ahead...

Character Personality (list a brief description of their traits, morals, etc):
Vaughn is a hard man, but an understanding one. He is a fair-minded officer, and is always at least three steps ahead of his opponents. His years of Intelligence work have made him a suspicious person, but his time working with the Bajorans has softened his edges, rounding out his character, and giving him a sense of peace that he hadn't felt since before he was force to ordered his wife's ship on a suicide mission.

But make no mistake, give him three seconds and he can kill you in a dozen different ways.

His many years of service and Intelligence work has put him on a first name basis with most of the Admiralty. And most of those Admirals still owe Vaughn a favor or ten. He's also not afraid to call an Admiral out and tell him off if the situation warrants it. There is probably no officer in the Fleet with more experience then Elias Vaughn, and it's only his distaste of bureaucratic nonsense and the peace he's found with his assignment on DS9 that keeps him from becoming the head of Starfleet Intelligence, if not head of Starfleet itself.

Description of Your Character's Appearance (or simply post a picture if you're able): Vaughn is in great shape mentally and physically. His appearance alone suggests he's a man half his age.

Color and Font of Your Character's Speech: Bold Royal Blue

What Can You Bring To This Game:
You may notice that Vaughn's backstory is pretty detailed. That's because he's a character from the series of DS9 relaunch books that take place after the last episode of the show. I really enjoyed the books I read, and very much liked Vaughn's character. As first officer, I plan to use Vaughn's years of experience to help guide the new Captain, and Starfleet's new flagship, on the adventures to come.

And if I have to reread those books to get his character right, I will. ;)

How Often Do You Plan on Posting in a Week For This Game:
Probably a couple of times a week. More if life permits.

Sample Post (Must be at least 4 paragraphs long and contain two lines of dialogue from your character):

First Officer's log: Stardate 65021.3

These last ten years have been nothing like I expected. I had been hoping for a nice and quiet, but not too boring, stint on Deep Space Nine to end my career. It was also a last chance to reunite with Prynn and hopefully work out our issues.

Well, it certainly hasn't been boring. Anything but. And my relationship with Prynn has never been closer. I've never felt so...satisfied with my life. For the first time in decades I wake up each morning looking forward to what may come. It's a long way from the contemplations of ending it all after I lost Ruriko.

And in three days, the Defiant launches back through the wormhole. I will captain the ship as we escort the Federation delegation that will meet with Odo and the other Founders. And I'm excited at the prospect. I've seen far too many years of war. The chance to make peace instead is one I look forward to.

The computer terminal on my desk bleeps about an incoming message. "End log," I say to it as I take a seat.

I type in a command, and the message pops up. I smile as I see who it's from...but my face quickly drops as I read on. I've barely finished reading when I march out the door, angry, and feeling like I could bite through a bulkhead.

"Ent-"

I barge into the Colonel's office, barley giving the computer time to signal my presence, or her the time to give me permission to enter.

"Command-"

"What the hell is this about?!" I say, slamming the padd onto her desk.

Glancing at the padd, she picks up the baseball that sits on the desktop and tosses it between her hands. "I just found out about it myself. I was going to tell you personally..."

"Well, apparently, he didn't feel like waiting for you to do that."

"I've been trying to contact him to clear this all up, but he's not taking any calls."

"Don't worry about that. I'll get through to him."

"Commander, don't do anything you'll regret."

"Oh, trust me, I won't regret tearing Jean-Luc a new one..."

My second app was going to be for Cheif Engineer Alexander Roszhenko, on special cooperative assignment from the Klingon Empire. But I had so much fun writing Vaughn's bio that I might just stick with him now.

Nice. I'm really digging how this new Enterprise crew is shaping up.

Also, damn you Byrd for killing off McCoy. I bet he was still spry at 162.

I can imagine Bones on his deathbed.

Doctor: "He's fading fast!"

Bones: "No I'm not. I'm a doctor, not a corpse!"

*Bones checks pulse*

Bones: "I'm dead, Jim."
