How many people saw the Rocky trailer before it?

What did you think of it?
im sure if i saw it i would hate it...just like football movie trailers:o

Definatley not as good as the original...but decent none the less. It really felt like a sequel just for the sake of a sequel and more money. I think part 3 will be even worse then 2 (following the Matrix formula)

I hated it.
I love the first, and was uneasy about dead mans chest.
I came in with low expectations and an open mind hoping i'd be wrong.
I wasn't.

I found it exceptionally boring, even the action scenes. They had one of the greatest movie characters of all time. Jack Sparrow. And he didn't do or say anything particularly funny or witty the ENTIRE 2 hours and 40 minutes. All he did was
die
Felt like such a waste.

also:
maybe it was just me but i didn't understand 80% of the things that came out of that female witchdoctors mouth
both elizabeth and jack sparrow were extremely out of character at time
Jack abandoning the pearl? please.
and i thought the creatures on Davy Jones ship looked really stupid.
thats all imo though.

Ill just pray the third one makes up for it.

This is just about spot on. Depp honestly mailed it in, i was shocked and awed by how ho hum he was.It was a Pointless story that couldnt hold a 3 year olds attention. And honestly I dont think i laughed once. And the sword fight was boring to say the least. The movie did have one thing going for it though. Best cgi iv ever seen davy jones was easily hands down thecoolest most realized cgi creation ever period. How this movie will ever make as much money as it will i could never tell ya.

i cant belive people hated it.........wow

i understand SR...but potc:eek:

yeah i guess thats why everyone in my theatre apllauded at the end even the children.

anyways.this was a great film, i kind of felt left out becasue i never saw the first film, but I'll definitely check it out. the story in this film was more like the second issue of a comic book story arc. the trilogy is one whole story, and this was just the second part of it. hopefully by watching the first film i can put the stories(we have so far) and i can appreciate the film more then i did at this point. action sequences we're great and fun, espcially when it came to the dragon(best cgi ever) and the three way fight was funny, not really suspenseful but sure as hell entertained me. of course there are certain scenes that shouldve been left out such as jack jumping
into the dragons mouth
he just shouldve stayed shackled with the ship and the dragon pull the ship down. and i do agree that jack needed more lines man. he said few a witty lines, but most of the time his gestures would speak for him. but overall i felt he pretty nailed the character down and the persona, i actually felt for him. all in all great film, really looking forward to the next one. the writers really did a good job at continuing this film's storylines to cover it up in the 3rd installment. im really looking forward to whats goingt o happen to davy jones, sparrow, etc.

the film was well done and pretty well written. and actually felt like a sequel then that SR shnit. i really need to watch the first one.

8.5/10

I thought is was a good film. Honestly I don't think it was better than the first. It felt like it was missing something. 8/10

I enjoyed it as much as the first one.

I loved the several cliff hanger endings.

And the effects were top notch. Except for a few shots of the giant squid.

And there is no way
Jack is dead.

honestly im shocked that people like it, i really didn't.
maybe i should give it another chance if for no other reason then because the first one was incredible.

I'd give it about 3 to 3.5 out of 5. I did like it and I did enjoy it and there were bits I laughed at and was impressed by, namely the trio's sword fight at the end, and the look of Jones and his crew. However I have a wierd feeling about it. In a way when Sparrow wasn't on screen I was like 'lets get more Jack on the screen' but then when he was on the screen I felt it was a bit too much Jack. Bit confusing. I don't agree though about Depp mailing in his performance. He was spot on as usual.

I would give it a 7 out of 10. I loved the first one, this one didn't live up to my high expectations. I liked it, but didn't love it. Seemed to long and the final character arc of Jack was not finished- his character arc, from what I took, was not making a selfish decision and becoming a hero.... thus, to me it would have been better if Jack had told Elizabeth that he was going to stay with the ship and not stay with it just because Elizabeth cuffed him- much similar to Han's heroic demise in Empire Strikes Back. Overall it was a good film, but I'll wait off to see it again on DVD.

Well, the difference is that Han was in love with Leia at the end of ESB, and he had became a changed man. Jack, however, was not "in love" with Elizabeth, and he still think about self-preservation first. Yes, the same old Jack, and there's no reason for him to suddenly change for the sake of changing.

Hey, agree to disagree. I would have rather seen him make a more heroic move because that's what certain lines throughout the movie was setting up. He didn't neccessarily have to do it out of love- but, possibly for the crew. Just, something felt off to me- personally. But, hey agree to disagree.

What I like is Jack remain the same free-spirited, rum-lovin', treasure-seeking, and devil-may-care kind of pirate. If you weight him down with silly romance (which something that Will is perfect for), then you'll change Jack Sparrow. Look at Han; Han is my favorite SW character of all times, but he did go from a free-wheelin' scoundrel to hero of the Rebel Alliance in ROTJ, because of his relationship with Leia. It works for Han, but I don't think it can work for Jack.

Honestly, I'm really excited to see it, especially at the IMAX. However, I'm keeping in mind that it's part of a larger movie. I reserved judgement for the Matrix Reloaded until I watched Revolutions, and even then, I waited until I could watch them back to back, and I'm the only person I know who liked them.

On top of it being the first part of a much larger movie, Dead Man's Chest, from what I've gleaned from other people's reviews, it sounds like it has Middle Child Syndrome, much like Two Towers did. The only thing I expected out of Two Towers was Gollum and Ents, and I had an enormous grin on my face the entire time. As long as Dead Man's Chest has Jack Sparrow and plenty of Davy Jones and his crew, I'll be fine.

So POTC2 for POTC1 is more like SW-V for SW-IV?

Or it is more like The Matrix 2 for The Matrix 1?

hey by the way its a Kraken not a Dragon...Kraken's were first spoken of in the 16th century and though never proven to exist in that size, we are aware of giant squids and or octopii that have grown to enormous sizes and may be what the earliest accounts of these Krakens by sailors at sea were probably talking about.
