Ok folks, here's your chance to review the movie, but try not to give away specific details. If you can't discuss the movie without giving specific details, remember to use the SPOILER and /SPOILER tags in square brackets.

:-)o yes, I know there's a thread in the Spoilers forum... I just don't want the movie spoiled :csad: I also didn't like that poll's options)

I havent seen this movie yet i will be seeing it friday morning buti havent heard 1 good review. The best review i read was from empire magazine but even theirs wasnt that positive. I just hope i dont take this film in the way all these critics have because i honestly thought Spider-Man was going to be our generations trilogy (and i do say that while remembering TLOTR's). I am praying i like this movie.

God I can't wait. I'm sure it'll be good... Apparently it's a long movie, our local theatres will be playing it for 3 whole weeks but only once a day "since it's such a long movie"

I'm wondering if the two people who have voted have actually seen it or not (since it has already opened in other parts of the world)

I have seen it (last night) and I give it an 8, maybe 8.5

Keep in mind that I should give the same score to the previous two, so my rating would be something like "As cool as Spidey 1 & 2"

I don't know how to give a review without spoilers, but I'll tell you, the movie was visually beautiful. You know how Raimi pulls those shots that look like a beautiful painting in motion? is all there. The acting was OK, my only complaints about the characters come from the previous movies, and the script (I don't like the wise Aunt May, I like twilight Aunt May :P, and Peter sometimes acted like Mr Bean). The comedy moments were well received by the public, specially Bruce Campbells scene. Stan Lee's wasn't anywhere as good. The story sometimes is hard to follow (not to me, but I imagine to the regular moviegoer) as the plot, at the beggining, is divided in the three villains, and their plots work independently, so we get the symbiote, and then like 10-15 minutes of Harry, and 10-15 of Sandman, until we go back to the alien. But it turns out ok. Another weak point in the plot (to me) is how much it resembles the comics in some details, already seen in the trailers, that take something away from the guy that already read the comics. Ah, and I loved the opening credits.

I was at the midnight showing last night, which means I'm pretty tired right now (why am I awake again?) Anyway, a couple of buddies and I got tickets for a Superscreen showing (seems pretty identical to IMAX, but without the name.) I'll start by saying that I'm a huge Spider-Man fan and was a regular buyer of the comic when the symbiote was first introduced, as well as when Venom first came along, however I'm realistic enough and mature enough to understand that movies can't always, and often times shouldn't mirror their source material to a tee. You can call this a review if you like and my goal is to stay spoiler free, outside of common knowledge (i.e. we all know Spidey dons a black suit, etc.)

While I found the movie entertaining, I really wish they would have figured out the behind-the-scenes business side well enough to push this into two movies instead of trying to develop so much in one. I guess when you're doing a third movie, it's not the time to leave audiences hanging and waiting for a fourth, but why not? As you probably already know, there are a number of characters interweaving in this and the movie tries it's best to give as much storyline for each as possible. This means fitting in development for Flint Marko, Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy, Eddie Brock, Mary Jane, Peter, the symbiote, and even Aunt May. Seriously, each of these characters have their own situations and issues going on, somewhat independent of each other, with each of their issues aimed at being interwoven at different points. The attempt is amicable, and the final payoff is quality; it's just the road to get there that seems rushed and a little forced.

As the movie moved forward (and briskly for it's 2 hour-plus running time,) I found myself saying, "wow, that developed pretty quick." From the escalation of Mary Jane and Peter's issues with each other, to Peter's experience as the black Spider-Man, it all seemed like we were missing a lot of contributing story that must have been happening between one scene and the next. Not that there were plot holes, but as an example, for a couple that has known each other as long and seems to be as in love as Peter and Mary Jane, their relationship troubles enlarged rather quickly. Also, some of "Emo Peter's" scenes (it'll make sense when you see it) seemed over the top to get across the effect of the symbiote, when having more time to really explain what was happening to him would have been better.

Still, overall I was very entertained. THC as Sandman was awesome and Topher Grace is really, really good. I've never checked imdb to see what else he does, but the character who plays J. Jonah Jameson should get more work. If nothing else, Marvel would be smart to at least give him a little screen time in any movie that has action anywhere near New York. I'll never like Kirsten Dunst and will always hate the fact that she got this part over Elisha Cuthbert, especially since all she does is complain about it. Franco kind of hams a little bit, but does a solid job of separating his moods in his storyline (it'll make sense when you see it.) I really thought that Tobey gave a role defining performance here. He put on a show that would make it hard for anyone else to play Spider-Man, if they do a fourth.

It's got replay-ability, which means I could definitely sit through it again in the theater in the next week. Like I said, it's extremely entertaining, moves at a fairly brisk pace; I just wish they would have stretched this and made it into three and four. I give it a three-quarter thumbs up.

i really liked it,but i liked sm1 the best and this second so i give it an 8,5 but the spidey franchise =best comic adaption

Ok I just came back from the film and here's what I think.

Leading up to the release, I felt Spidey 3 was going to be the best. I watched SM1 and SM2 to get ready and prepare myself.

Then I started reading reviews and I thought the critics were too harsh.

But they were right.

This movie is good, however it is not great. It's better than other comic book films but is nowhere near the quality of SM1 and SM2.

The problem I believe is they tried to do too much. Nothing flowed, everything was disjointed and honestly in the end, I was like "ok what was the point of that?". They were some sequences that seriously needed to be removed. That screentime could have been better used to bring some depth to the otherwise under-developed villains.

And dear God was the script horrible. After the marvelous script of SM2, I honeslty have no idea what was going through Raimi and Koepp's head when he was directing this movie. How on earth they could screw this up I don't know.

All is not lost however. There are some spectacular action sequences and the action does not disappoint. Some of it is cheesy though, and there is no sequence that bests the Spidey/Ock train fight.

All in all Spidey 3 is decent, but disappointing. In fact, there were times where it didn't even feel like a Spidey movie. I just have no idea how Raimi got it mostly wrong.

This movie deserves a 6/10, but because Spidey's in it, my inner fanboy gives it a 7/10.

But please, for all our sakes Sony do the following for SM4:

- Please focus on ONE villain and develop them properly
- Please do not waste time with weird dance or singing sequences
- Go back and see what made the previous films great: Powerful story, deep message, and excellent pacing coupled with great action sequences .
- SFX and action do not make a great movie- a good story does

I have faith that Sony will learn from this lesson and make SM4 the true successor to SM2.

A great character and a great franchise deserves more than this.

I agree with points 1, 3 and 4. However, #2 has me curious... :cwink:
