One of the things that impressed me most about this film was the performances. A character like Rohrschach is tough to pull off... the voice, the psyche... let alone having to keep the audience interested in your character despite not being able to see your face for the majority of the film. But Jackie Earle Haley turned out one of the greatest performances in ANY superhero film, in my opinion. I thought that all of the main characters: Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Malin Ackerman did very well in their roles. Some of them I had trouble seeing as the characters when their names were first announced, but they won me over. Who do you think did the best? Who did the worst?

I was most impressed by Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

my enjoyment was pretty even split among manhattan, nite owl, rorschach, comedian and ozy. sally and nixon were pretty awful. everyone else fell in the middle.

Jackie Earle Haley easily.

Malin Ackerman would be my vote for the worst. That part really needed some acting chops that she did not have. When she [blackout]smashes Manhattan's castle after finding out who her father was[/blackout], I was trying hard not to laugh.

I was particularly blown away by Billy Crudups portrayal of Dr. Manhattan. He was so godly yet so humanly flawed at the same time. JEH of course played Rorschach so fluidly nailing the characters twisted determined idea of retributive justice.

I think the problem with that scene was, we never got to show how much Laurie hated Blake. She says one bad thing about him, and thats it. If they went a little deeper, it would've been better IMO.

Haley and Crudup steal the show easily. I thought we had some solid performances mostly, but these are the only 2 I will say were stand outs. They brought their characters to life in a way the other actors didn't, and all their scenes were gold.

Completely agree.

Last I checked this is a thread to discuss acting in Watchmen. Not how good The Spirit was.

Just saying

I'd rate them from greatest to least...

Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Malin Ackerman
Jackie Earle Haley
Patrick Wilson
Matthew Goode
Billy Crudup

I must confess something:

I liked The Spirit :csad:
