I loved everyone, and I think Patrick Wilson's performance was probably the strongest - but I voted for Malin because I expected her to be a weak link and she was, instead, very strong.

Worst performance goes to Carla, though even she was better than I expected after seeing her clip last week.

JEH gave an incredible performance...Rorschach is the reason you're glued to this movie...like Heath with the Joker. There i said it. Actually I think a lot of people have said this. :D

Oh no doubt. He gave just as good of a proformence as Heath did. They both brought their character's to life.

I'll be honest, Billy Crudup, even with CGI, gave such a strong performance in his animated facial expressions and voice that he stole the film from fan favorite Rorschach.

Jackie Earle Haley was also memorable as Rorschach and will get fan adoration no doubt (albeit he is not Oscar-worthy as some have said) and gave an engrossing performance. I also imagine Patrick Wilson and Patrick Dean Morgan will go down as underrated as they gave two of the most important performances in the film, but not as flashy as the two above. Patrick Wilson was the heart of the film and the audience's underdog to root for and viewed the whole thing as we did, while The Comedian is the character who sets the whole film in motion in a lot of ways and the entire first act is devoted to him. It is somewhat slow, but Morgan gave a strong performance.

Otherwise most of the rest was good. Though I initially disliked the casting of Matthew Goode a lot, he was quite good (no pun intended) as Veidt. His final scenes with Dan and his self-martyrdom (in his mind, that is) as well as him standing alone in his little castle was really well done. He played the genius narccisst well. And while Carla Guingo was barely in the movie, she left a strong impression and played the first Silk Spectre well.

Malin Akerman, as others likely have pointed out, was probably miscast. But she tried her best and wasn't abyismal. But her major scenes, like saying we need to take Archie out or the realization that her father is the Comedian were not the best.

everyone did great accept malin ackerman and maybe Wisden...but Jackie Earle Haily in my opinion was a powerhouse...and Crudup is my close second.

What did Carla do that made everyone hate her so much? She was barely in it enough to make much of an impact, IMO.

If you are eating a fruit salad and you have one terrible tasting grape...its still a bad grape. It doesn't matter how small it is in comparison to the whole.

Now I don't think Carla was "terrible", but she was the weakest performance and by far the weakest Silk Spectre.

To each his own, I suppose. I thought she was fine though. I felt for her when she got attacked by The Comedian, though that may have more to do with the situation than with her ability. Still, I'll always love Carla for her role in Sin City, so I'm pretty much willing to watch her in anything.

Carla playing Carla aged Silk Spectre was fine.

Carla playing and old ass Silk Spectre was bad.

This.

The problem was she seemed to be trying too hard to play the smart ass know it all mom. Like she went too far with the old lady attitude in a way.

In the book she seemed just a bit more cheery, in the film I was just thinking what a old ass *****.

She kinda reminded me of 80's era Zsa Zsa Gabor.

People dissing the old age make-up need to step off too. Concidering the age range, various actors, and the fact they got a fricking Oscar winner like Greg Cannom to to it, shows when it comes to SPFX people still forget to keep opinions to themselves. And given the amount of close up's and HD clarity, I thought it looked pretty damn good. Better than some stuff that was Oscar nominated this past year (looking at you TDK).

I thought the makeup on Gugino(sp?) was good. Only make-up I didn't like was how big and exaggerated they made Nixon's nose. Other than the nose I thought the effects, make-up and all were good.

I do have to disagree about TDK. I thought Two Face's effects were pretty awesome.

Yeah. You could hear the snickering in the audience whenever Nixon was on-screen.

Everything was good except that that weird rubbery nose.

If you look closely at Gugino's neck(primarily under her throat) you could even see faint liver spots they applied. It was subtle but I think came out better than if they gave her extremely noticable ones.

I thought Akerman was the least impressive of the cast, but generally good; I thought her least effective moments were the ones with Doctor Manhattan, probably because of the CGI factor (see also: the Star Wars prequels).

Haley is an easy choice for best, because he had the showiest part; I'll go with Crudup, who, despite not sounding like I expected Manhattan to, did a really good job showing his descent/ascent from humanity to impassive godlike status.

Haley, Morgan, Crudup and Wilson were perfect. Goode was ok, but a little too villainous. Ackerman was eh, Gugino was even eh'er.

If Watchmen was released in 2008, Patrick Wilson would deserve Heath's Oscar.

I thought Patrick Wilson was great. JEH and JDM were good too. I didn't think Malin was as bad as some people are making her out to be.

Billy Crudup was good as well, but I didn't enjoy his performance as much as I did Patrick, Jackie, and Jeffrey's.

I was unimpressed with Carla when she was older, I felt like she was fine in the flashbacks though. I really hated the guy who got his arms cut off, he stuck out like a sore thumb, and I didn't think Matt Frewer as Moloch was very good either.

Stephen McHattie was a pleasant surprise, I look forward to seeing more of him in the director's cut.

whoa, steady on...

Anyway, from best to worst

1. Jackie Earle Healy- best of the lot, totally nailed his character and a joy to watch. He's the main reason I'd go see the film a second time

2. Patrick Wilson- the real surprise, giving a thankless role a subtle charm. Very impressive stuff, actually improves Dan from the comic book IMO

3. Billy Crudup- Great preformance for the most interesting character

4. Jeffery Dean Morgan- Played the part well enough. He was good. Does look a lot like Robert Downey Jr. though...

5. The midget from Seinfeld

.... the rest are largely unimportant. I thought Ackerman was terrible, no more to say on that:o
