So.....I was reading an old issue of Thunderbolts the other day and it mentioned that Speed Demon is the 4th fasted human on the planet.....and that made me wonder, who is faster....Well I know that folks are faster but 3?

Quicksilver
The Whizzer (If he even still alive?)

Who else

I guess maybe Speed from Young Anvegers....Northstar.....Rate them

Northstar has shown to run over mach 18.7 and with ease, plus fly escape velocity into space in a split second to save Paulie from Magneto

Plus of course Aurora his sister, as both of them have the ability to go 99% the speed of light.

you would think that if Superman is one of DC's faster characters, Hulk would be really fast too.:o

I think speed is not really shown consistently in comics, as Quicksilver is supposed to be the fastest, but apparently can't run faster than 200 mph.

Also in that comic Mags reckons Northstar is a lot slower than Pietro.

Not Jake's logic should also be correct. Hmmm.

I think QuickSilver was upgraded to sound speed along time ago.

Magneto can fly at great enough speed to go from the Earth to the moon in a matter of minutes.

im going to guess sentry probably has speed to

As was stated earlier the Runner is the fastest being in the Marvel Universe.

Thor is "as fast as the lightning." The Silver Surfer can go superluminal in transit, and I think some writers have made him super-fast in fights, too. But, as always, that kind of thing is inconsistent at best.

But doesn't that still put him behind the 18.7 Machs?
Isn't it kind of moot now? Quicksilver doesn't have super-speed at all anymore. He can create temporal copies of himself.

Well...kinda. It's more about being able to move his molecules fast enough to displace himself in the future. Basically, he's a time traveler. The copies of himself are like a byproduct of the time jumping.

Eh...I'm not a fan of time travelers, myself, but I like what Marvel's doing with Quicksilver.

I've been indifferent. I like how Peter David's setting him up as an opposing faction to X-Factor in their comic, but I didn't read House of M or Son of M and I don't much care about either.

Are we talking just speedsters that basically speed is their main power? I wouldn't call Silver Surfer a speedster even though he can travel at faster then light speeds, as he has more then just speed.

Also in that comic Mags reckons Northstar is a lot slower than Pietro.

Yeah that made no sense what's so ever, as QS doesn't even come close to the speed feats Northstar/Aurora has.

Northstar ran half way across the country in thirty minutes. He wasn't even pushing himself. That's orbital velocity.

Calculation:
speed=distance/time
speed=4500km/30min
speed=150 km/min
speed=2.5 km/sec

Also to note Makkari and Buried Alien

Is he a regular in X-Factor, now?

Didn't marvel have a race which a Flash impersonator won?

Meh, Marvel's speedsters are lame. Although I'm hoping for good things from Speed when YA picks up again.

Is he a regular in X-Factor, now?
He seems to be. He's gathering up ex-mutants and "testing" them to see if they're worthy of... something... by attempting to restore their powers. If their powers come out all f'ed up and crappy, they're not worthy. If they regain the same powers they had or improved versions of their powers like Quicksilver himself got, they're worthy. I think. Honestly, I've been more interested in the subplot about Jamie trying to reabsorb all of the dupes he sent out into the world.

Man...I really need to pick up the back issues and start reading that book.

It's been pretty good. Like I said, the main story is intriguing but slow-going. David strikes gold every now and then with Jamie's search for his dupes, though. One issue a couple months back in particular was just phenomenal.

Yes, the Galactic Race which happened in Quasar, and that impersonator was Buried Alien supposed to be Barry Allen ie. the Flash. He now goes by Flash-Foward and even the Runner called him "the fastest man alive"

Makkari won the second cosmic race though.

Sidenote: The races consisted of Quicksilver, The Whizzer, Captain Marvel, Speed Demon, Black Racer, Super Sabre, Makkari. I think a few more, but I forget
