Is Superman now the fastest person in the DCU

Superman doesn't have the Speed Force. Only those with the Speed Force are faster than Captain Marvel. Therefore, Marvel is faster(even if only slightly faster) than Superman. That's straight from DC, man.

Or Superman is equal in speed to Captain Marvel. The phrasing doesn't rule out that possibility.

Only here would we argue something that was never brought to the test,....


Canon sez CM is fastest EXCEPT for speed-force flashes,... then he's the fastest now - Period.

Once again, Zoom's still out and about, fast as ever because his speed doesn't come from the Speed Force.

Actually, from what I've seen, Superman can only barely break the sound barrier while running these days. And, since he's gotten his powers back, whatever it is in him that allows him to fly hasn't woken up yet, so he's stuck to running and leaping.

He was able to fly in the very same issue his other powers came back. He just said his flying wasn't quite perfect.

You sure? Because, I thought he said that he was stuck with leaping. Anyway, doesn't matter. His running speed, as it currently stands, looks to be slightly above the speed of sound.

Yeah, towards the end he goes over his powers again and basically says, "My flying's back... unsteady, but there."

Superman also outraced the new Bloodsport's bullet, which had a good head start on him, so he's faster than sound at the moment. Almost definitely not at full speed yet, but still pretty fast.

I agree with BrainWilly. CM powers I would say are closer to Wonderwoman's then they are to Superman's. Wonderwoman had the speed of Hermes and Superman is faster then her. I think that Superman is the fastest now especially if he does not hold back any of his speed. He used to race neck and neck with the Flash (Barry Allen). Captain Marvels powers are overrated. He is close but not on Superman's level. Supes is the fastest.

I read a JLA comic recently, I think it was Terra Incognita, and it said that the speed of Hermes was currently Mach 3. I'm pretty sure that's 3X the speed of sound. If you think about it, that's how fast an SR-71 goes. How much faster than that is Superman?

Hermes has ****ty speed. Superman was stated not too long ago to have a top speed of about 140,000 miles per second. That's just shy of the speed of light. But there's contradictory evidence all over, as with everything in comics. In one Superman comic I read, he's trapped in this weird in-between dimension with this alien from yet another dimension, and he says he's pushing himself beyond the speed of light to get out.

I don't know. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. I remember reading that somewhere and thinking it made sense, since the speed of light is 186,000 mps and Superman's generally slower than Wally, who tops out around light-speed (though there are contradictions to that, too).

Zoom can't be the fastest, because he just manipulates time, he isn't actually fast.
Ion manipulates the t/s continuum so I would think he isn't really fast.
WonderWoman has been shown to be slower than Supes


Until Wally comes back *crosses fingers* I'd say Billy and Clark are tied.

If Superman is under-powered, and the Speed Force is gone, and Superman at his prime is indeed faster than Supergirl and the Marvel family, and we don't count Zoom becaues he manipulates time, and we don't count Ion because we aren't sure he's the fastest yet...

I'd say it's a 3 way tie between Marvel,Supes(given full power), and Bizarro.

No. Superman is, currently, just barely above the speed of sound. CM is a good deal faster than that.

No idea, but he lived up to his tagline and outraced a speeding bullet to save Jimmy. I don't remember what kind of gun the bullet was fired from, but most modern guns fire bullets a lot faster than the speed of sound.
