Well the tribute was placed pretty far into the credits so a lot of people left before it was showed. At my show people clapped and said a few (nice) things.
It should of been placed right when the movie was over though, more people would of saw it.
I too hoped it was before the credits, after the title. I was pretty proud though, everyone at the midnight screening stayed, most were talking. Everyone applauded when "The Dark Knight" came up, i'm proud cause i started a new applaud going with the two memorials. That was even louder than when the film ended.
I think it was appropriately placed in that it didn't detract from the movie but still paid tribute. People in my theatre clapped even before the tribute, when his name came up in the cast.
I sadly had a pretty bad migraine, accompanied by sweating and a little nausea, by the end of the movie. Which kind of took my focus once the credits started, so I don't notice if Ledger's name got an extra reaction.
