Reboot - the coolest concept in Hollywood

Do you honestly want me to search through your posts to see the one where you flat out admitted to not carrying at all about the character of Peter Parker and only have read ONE Spider-Man comic in your life time? 'Nuff said. Whereas some have hated SM3, I can understand that- you've always had a personal vendetta against all the films in the franchise it seems. Why, I honestly don't know- heck according to rotten tomatoes SPIDER-MAN 2 is even considered to be the BEST SUPERHERO FILM OF ALL TIME.

So your thoughts on that subject, to me at least- after reading your post that stated the above, is null.

-----------------------------

GR was originally good, then I started to read the comics- let me tell you my thoughts on the matter changed INSTANTLY! And yes, GR is a lesser known Catwoman type debacle. THEY CHANGED A COMIC BOOK BAD ASS INTO A SATURDAY MATINEE CARTOON, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE! They're take on the character was BEYOND WAY OFF. Instead of GR the bad ass, they gave us GR the rope guy who faces Scooby Doo reject villains in a Scooby Doo type movie. I actually think it did a worse offense than Catwoman.

It's no admition. I stated a plain fact and you as usual blow it out of proportion and go on some little crusade to use it against me.

My thoughts on the subject are not null. I don't care about reading issue #78747 where spiderman faces off against the spot or rocket racer. Sue me.

Kevin recommended I just read the essentials and that's what I'll do. I do have a general understanding of who all comicbook heros are because I have a huge marvel cards collection.

But continue to jump to conclusions about a person you have no clue about guy.

Answer this- other than reading information on a part of a card... how many Spider-Man comics have you read?

Answer this- other than reading information on a part of a card... how many Spider-Man comics have you read?

To this date. I have the one lying in the corner of my room. It's an issue after the secret wars where he's first using the black suit.

I also used to collect spider-man comic strips from the DailyNews as a child. They weren't very interesting action packed or anything, but it was spider-man, so I had to have them.

And I've downloaded and read 5 comics, not very good ones either.

So, depending on which ones those are- you just don't like the character... Peter Parker, Spider-Man, friends and foes, etc. Then you obviously wouldn't like any of the films, that's a granted.

But, at least stop sprouting out comments like "Spider-Man isn't displayed properly in these films, Raimi doesn't know Spider-Man. This isn't his universe." Because coming from just a 'so-so' novice, it's annoying, carries no weight, and is frankly hilarious.

Come on man, at least have some control over your ego. I know enough not to say that the Transformers film is or is not the universe that most of the actual fans know. Why? I haven't read the comics, seen the cartoon, etc. So I wouldn't know and frankly I wouldn't want to come off sounding like a fake "know it all" prick who actually knows nothing. I mean, coming from somebody with very very little Transfomers knowledge- how would it sound if I said "everything in Transformers is perfect, this is the universe- always has been." I may love the film, but I can't say that it's the definitive world the fans grew up with due to my lack of knowledge. Comprende?

Fine you can not like the films, that's your opinion. But, stop fcking sprouting "this isn't Spider-Man" "Raimi doesn't know Spider-Man" because you know hardly anything, if that about who the character truly is from not being that involved in the character. That's what gets on my nerves.

:whatever: I've loved the character ever since I learned he existed. How that translates into spewing love goop over ever single issue you ever read, I don't understand. I love Superman too but I'll dare say you can still love superman and not be in love with all the slap a jap comics.

But, at least stop sprouting out comments like "Spider-Man isn't displayed properly in these films, Raimi doesn't know Spider-Man. This isn't his universe." Because coming from just a below novice, it's annoying, carries no weight, and is frankly hilarious.

That's your delusional brain making things up. If I don't like sandman killing uncle ben, I don't like Stan Lee and Ditko then, do I? Ok genius.

You need to relax and step off that high horse you're on. People don't need to have read every comic book to know a comic hero inside and out.

Most here love the heros yet probably haven't even read one comic book. And that's fine. There are more important things to do in life.

1. You've only read a COUPLE comics at most, and yet somehow you know the "DEFINITIVE" Spider-Man and I've seen you arguing AT other long time Spider-Man fans on whether or not it is a "definitive" Spider-Man. Hmm, to me that doesn't make an ounce of sense. But, I'm just that way. Lol, funny me. ALSO NOTE I SAID- DEPENDING ON THE ONES YOU READ.

2. Yeah, Marko didn't kill Ben. That was made up.

3. Nobody said you have to be reading and knowing every single issue. I don't. But, come on- a COUPLE of comics makes you know "definitive" Spider-Man. If that's your true belief, you're dillusional mind really is starting to make me sick- think I might go vomit.

Did you not get the Transformers example?

High horse? Lol. I said it's fine that you don't like the films, just acting like you know the "definitive" after a back of a card and a couple of comics- that's just not logical.

Please save me from puking and say you at least watched the cartoon show- please... dear god, don't make me vomit.

I really would love for the Muppets to get a good movie reboot.I know that there are currently projects on the shelf ( one of them was filmed almost a year ago.)I really hope something get's off the ground.

Wait, they made a Muppets movie and they're keeping it on the shelf?! At least make it direct to DVD for us nostalgia addicts.

They made a mockumentary type TV special for Disney called I think "Behind The Muppets".

Now you're just trying to derail the thread and make it about Wesyeed's knowledge of spider-man.

I know more about spider-man than most people ever will in their entire lives. While other people were having sex, I was in the library reading spider-man encyclopedias because that is better than sex to me.

But ok, mr. "if ya don't read every comic ever made, you can't have an opinion" I guess since I've never read superman comics except for the death of superman, Superman 3 was just great. Durr, i ain't never read no superman comic so I don't know nuttin bout how superman werkz durr... I guezz it waz juz like da komik!1

Lol, just kidding. You hate me because I'm not in love with the Macy Gray-man Movies. I get it. I don't care. Go get a girlfriend.

See, there nothing to back it up but your lame attempts at insults. Which comically- coming from the one I titled 'bizarro' is hilarious rather than insulting. Nice try though.

And jesus christ, did you just ignore the question of watching the cartoon- because you never even saw the cartoon episodes before?! Wow, if that's true... then you definitely are more of a lunatic in my books. "Five comics and a card, I know everything there is to know about the character!"

My impersonation of Weyseed:

And err- Ghost Rider is um the best film ever! Screw critics saying Spider-Man 2 is best hero film ever! Lol. Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins sucks! Definitely not true to source material, though I've only read five Spidey comics and a card and maybe never read a Jeph Loeb Batman story- lol. Yep, that's right- GR live action cartoon rules, those other two- lol...

You're the strangest poster I've met on here. Excuse me while I go puke.

As I said- it's fine that you don't like the films. Just stop trying to act like a "know it all" "definitive" when you're far from it... you do know the difference between someone telling their opinion and someone acting like a fake "know it all" right?

It's getting late, I'm getting tired and quite honestly- I don't think I can make you see logic and sense in that small little mind of yours. As I tried to eloquently describe in the Transformers example, there is a difference between having an opinion about a film and someone with little knowledge of the mythos trying to act like a "definitive know it all." But, for some reason- you keep on acting as though I'm acting as if it's the same thing. I'm off to bed, you're kinda becoming like an annoying nagging headache that I will never understand.

No regular guy going to chill at the movies is going to think about any of that. But I do see parallels in there to today's world so I think it could be done if we wanted to do the same thing over again, which would make a reboot pointless.

The new Robocop would be different and suck like Robocop 3. So we agree there.

You and a billion other people like them. I like only the villains and JJJ. The rest is a chore.
I like JJJ, Aunt May, and Gwen Stacy. I don't like the villians because they are some of my least favorite villians from comic books.
I wanna see a reboot of Star Trek. Oh wait...:woot:

Yeah, that should be cool- not keeping up, so- is it regular Star Trek or 'young' Star Trek idea that was bouncing around a while back?

Younger, but not Starfleet Academy young.
I believe it's going to be about Kirk and Spock's first mission together on the Enterprise.
It'll probably be similar to Casino Royale, in that it's a complete reboot, instead of a prequel to the TV series.

I guess I'm just as hard headed as you are. Oh well. Life goes on, doesn't it. Jackasses making false accusations about you on the internet or not.

I just think it's funny you're so interested in discrediting me. I've never had an internet stalker before who's followed me around in threads to pester me about spider-man and yet calls me crazy.

Nope. Pretty much only on the Spidey related boards and- well, this thread here... actually. Whatever board I visit and happen to see you trying to act or perhaps act like a "Spidey definitive", I bring it up. I also do love bringing up GR, lol.

And you must have a pretty dillusional picture of false accusations- you yourself said that you only read five comics, a back of a card, and avoided the question concerning the cartoon. So, that forms a picture of how much you actually know about the character in contrast to what you try to make others think you know about the characters. As I said, it honestly makes me sick. And that's why when I find- not follow- comments like this on the board I visit, I just make sure they know how much you actually know about the characters and their world.

Call me annoying, I don't care- as long as they see the real you and the "I know everything about the hero, null to my lack of actually reading, watching, etc." self that you try to present to others.

Whatever. Kevin and I are friends. So no matter how many hours you stay up at night dreaming of ways to tear down my pristine, perfect, image around here. Kevin will always know I'm a true blue passionate spidey fan who only wants to see the best adaptation possible, nothing more, nothing less. He knows I'm fair minded and flexible in what I like in comicbook films too. Just ask him.

Friends as in- real life friends? If that's true and I hear that you know more than five comics and a back of a card (lol, that sounds funny) then I'll stop discrediting you and live with your own opinions. Until then, in my eyes- you're Bizarro.

And how the fck can you like GR and not SM2 or BB? That, I will never get. Because BB got a great Jeph Loeb Batman film. Have you read those??? And Spidey 2 was a great classics Spidey flick.

Have you read GR comics? Jw... because if you are, I want to know which ones portray it as something out of a saturday morning cartoon. Because the ones I've read that made me hate the film, was definitely more bad ass than silly Scooby Doo like film material.

Relax, guy. Play some polka music.

You know what I find funny? People who would've preferred a reboot of the Superman franchise, yet claim Superman Returns was too much of a rehash of the Donner movie. Seriously? You think a few homages are too much, yet you want the exact same plot repeated?

I think any reboot of a franchise that pretty much got the basic concept right in the first place is a bad idea. Sure, you may not like the writing and direction of the first Spider-Man, but do you really want to sit through his origin again? You really want to watch the same movie a second time, only with different actors? That's not a reboot, it's a remake.

Batman Begins had a good reason to reboot. It was to tell the origin that hadn't been told before. It also had a chance to make a drastic shift in tone. If you gave any of these other comic franchises a drastic shift in tone from the first versions you'd get something unrecognizable.

The only other franchise I can imagine rebooting would be X-Men. Use the original team lineups with slightly more comic-inspired costumes (although I never minded the movie suits), and I think you'd get a different enough film. Enough that people wouldn't think "dammit, didn't we already see this movie?!!"

LOL. How did I predict that Wey would not be able to answer an easy question and would thus try to avoid it?

X-Men absolutely.

It has the potential to be one of the greatest film franchises ever. That would require a director that's not a hack that's almost as overrated as he is untalented that knows how to actually characterize and do more than point and shoot behind the camera, and understands and respects the source material.

Mortal Kombat should get a dark, gritty, R rated reboot that wipes out the damage the PG-13 kiddy-fests did.

We didn't if it were actually good this time.
