Okay I just saw Quarantine and while it didn't exactly give me chills just chuckles at the performances and the abrupt ending felt cheated but I don't intend on watching the original either.

I will say this though actress Jennifer Carpenter while not your typical hot, sexy, big breasted hottie she can act mighty fine even if all actors had seen the original for reference I think her constant crying and blubbering would pretty convincing.

It was basically a genetically altered form of rabies. Some nutjob was renting out the attic of the complex and was testing chemicals on rats and whatnot. It basically started from the rats which you can tell from a scene earlier on.

Has anyone else seen this? I just watched this and holy **** was it good. The last 10 min. was some of the most creepy/scariest things I've seen in a long time. Yes, it's a Spanish film and has subtitles, but don't let that stop you from seeing this. Unfortunetly, I don't know when it will be released in the U.S. Right now the only way to see it is if you download the torrent for the film, which most people who have seen it have done, since it's the only way of viewing it right now. But if it hits theaters, I'm definitely paying to see it, just for that theater experience. But man, try to find a way to see this movie. I was a little put off by the handheld camera perspective, but it works amazingly well in this movie. I can't say enough good things. First horror movie to scare me in a long time. Unfortunetly, it's being remade for America and it will be titled "Quarantine."

I was lucky enough to watch it in a theater--very good, scary little movie. The girl's more than alright (in fact, I think she's the only one who can actually act--though sometimes she goes a bit over the top). Can't believe she's 34 either

Instead of the Niña Medeiros, we got some nutjob running tests on rabid rats. I thought that some girl who we saw from a cute little girl turning into a seven foot monster, was a lot more creepy than some idiot being bit by rats(and don't forget the half assed makeup. If you're going to make a zombie flick, at least make them look scary). Also how THEY GAVE AWAY THE ENDING IN THE TRAILER AND POSTER!!!!!!!!!! I've seen [REC] and I thought that maybe they would add something like the cameraman somehow making it down towards the lobby since in the trailer that's where the soldiers found it. Overall I'd rather see 10,000 BC again than this cluster****.
Also, Doug Jones has nothing on Javier Botet. Doug walked like a normal person, but Javier really had everything down since he's a tall, skinny, creepy looking guy in real life, and thanks to the wonderful make-up team that literally made me cringe when I saw him on screen.

It's implied like they are occultists, satanists trying to create like some world-ending plague with an advance, mutant strain of rabies that got loose in the apartment complex. They play a tape recorder with some warbled language you can't make out, sounded like they were trying to run Ozzie Osbourne backwards trying to speak to Satan or whatever. Lame.

The trailers I remember seeing last night were, The International with Clive Owen, Twilight(my gf and I agree that this looks like it was made for STV. Production values make it seem like your watching an episode of Buffy or something).

The other trailer was for a horror/thriller that I can't remember the name of. It was about two sisters who are living with thier dad and his new girlfriend and the youngest daughter is getting messages from ghosts telling her that her dad's gf is going to murder them.

Quarantine was pretty much the same as Rec, didn't see any real difference between the two.

We saw it last night, and quite enjoyed it.
